Let me get something straight, I LOVE Legend of Zelda. I would say it rivals my love of Mario or Pikmin. I got Link Between Worlds almost as soon as it came out. And now, the review!

OVERALL: 9.4
This was a surprisingly good game. It didn't feel like it would be, but I was wrong! It changed a bunch of things up, but it's still a great game nonetheless. This game has a few new gimmicks to it: Item Rentals, Merging, and the Stamina Guage. Along with a spin on how you save in Skyward Sword. Only this time, instead of a bird statue, you need to find a weather vane to save. The Item Rental was a bit of a let down for me at first. I prefer the "Go through a temple and find the item about halfway through" formula as opposed to the "Hookshot, Tornado Rod, Lamp Oil, Rope, Bombs. You want it? It's yours my friend, as long as you have enough rupees" formula that this game gives us. But it's actually pretty easy to get over that. It's an unexpected, yet kind of nice, twist. The also new mechanic of "Merging" is pretty fun too. Early on in the game you can get the ability to turn into a drawing on any wall you want, and you can move along it. It's pretty fun. Although using items, and merging, depleates your stamina. Which thankfully comes back pretty fast. There are also Streetpass Battles, which pin you against another person's Shadow Link. Which can be pretty fun too.

GRAPHICS: 9
This is a pretty well polished game. Plus, it's in 3D! When you want it to be, of course. It's actually kind of fun to see all the classic enemies from A Link To The Past being remade and looking all shiny. It looks great, like all other 3DS games, the screenshots make it look much more pixelated. But yea, the animations are smooth, the enemies and bosses look great and unique. And all of the NPC's look different, which is a nice touch.

SOUND: 9
This game has some great music. Most of it is either a remix, or a remastered version of a some from A Link To The Past. But it sounds great! And the sound effects are pretty nice too. The clink of your sword hitting something, the poofing sound when enemies dissappear in a purple cloud, everything down to the crackle of the fire sounds great.

ADDICTIVENESS: 7
This game is pretty addicting through the first playthrough. You'll have trouble putting your 3DS down. But after beating it, it's best to wait awhile before replaying it. So you'll forget about how to solve some of the puzzles .  But even if you've beaten it, there's things that will keep you coming back. Like the Baseball Minigame, and the Tower of Pain, which pins out against tons of enemies in an arena. Or even just for the Streetpass Shadow Link battles. But that's really a hit or miss, depending if anyone else you know has a 3DS.

STORY: 10
This game has a great story to it! This game takes place a few hundred years after A Link To The Past. And our newest Link is a (somewhat lazy) apprentice to the blacksmith, vaguely like in The Minish Cap. But not all stays well as monsters start appearing throughout the land. And people are starting to go missing, including the blacksmith's son, Gulley! And worst of all, someone's been leaving drawings around Hyrule Castle! And Link runs into the culprit responsible for all of this, Yuga, as he is in the middle of turning the chapel minister's daughter into a painting. Another mysterious person named Ravio, who set up an item shop in your house, tells you to go tell Princess Zelda about what Yuga has been doing. So Link goes there and, you guessed it, Zelda soon gets turned into a painting too. Which sets Link off on incredible journey to find the Pennants of Virtue, to get the Master Sword to rescue Zelda! Along with the others trapped in paintings. And, an entire worlds...

DEPTH: 7
This game varies in depth. There are a lot of temples, and even getting to some of them takes a bit of work too. But outside temples, there's heart containers, which can be hard to get at times. Rupee Rush, which is a minigame where you have 30 seconds to get as many rupees as you can, but there isn't a timer on the screen. A Baseball minigame, where you hit as many pots at you can (That one is pretty addicting...). And Miamais. What the heck is a Miamai, you ask? Well, near Laky Hyala there is a cave, and in it is a giant Squid-Snail thingy. Who tells you that all one hundred of her babies have gone missing all over the land. And for every ten that you find, she'll make an item of yours nicer (She upgrades them).  So yeah, there is a lot to do in this game.

DIFFICULTY: 7
Like I said before, there's quite a few temples in this game. But the temples can be pretty easy at times. But they can get tough pretty quickly. The game has stumped me quite a few times. And actually, a few temples actually have items inside. And if you're not careful, or creative enough to find them, you can miss them very easily. And finding Miamais, and the minigames, take quite a bit of creative thinking, and some skills also.

All in all, this is one of my favorite Zelda titles. I'm sure anyone would like it. It's good for a seasoned Zelda player, and anyone just getting into it.

I wonder what the character limit on this thing is.

Your review is very informative, as usual.  For those with the foreknowledge to use the review (AKA those who have played other Zelda games, especially A Link to the Past, like me), it should prove to be quite interesting and helpful.  I really want to play the game now, but a 22-year old without a job can only have so much .  I'll get the game one day (I hope!), and will enjoy it quite a bit.
