NintendoFanKimmy:
Legend in the Making Chapter
Four: The XZH Hack
NintendoFanKimmy and her cousin
greenluigi, two rookies who had left their city to track down its attacker,
woke up to a beautiful, sunny morning in the flowery meadow scattered with trees
they had settled down in the night before. Greenluigi yawned loudly. “Ah.
‘Morning, Kimmy!” The brunette waved back. “Hi, green.” A cool, refreshing
breeze blew by, scattering the orange, autumn leaves around the two friends. “I
feel more relaxed, now,” said Kimmy with confidence. “This is a nice place to
get a good start. As long we’re confident, we’ll do this.” Green nodded. “I’m
sure we will. But, no dilly-dallying or drifting off, either. That virus might
be moving faster than we are. Let’s get going.” His cousin sighed. “Fine.” They
started walking forward and grabbed their belongings, which wasn’t much: A
small, red pocket knife, some cheddar cheese wrapped in tin foil paper, a
silky, blue scarf, and something that surprised NintendoFanKimmy. “Green!” she
yelled at greenluigi, who was holding the Memberlist in the palm of his hand.
He scoffed. “What? It’s to look at and remember our friends when we’re feeling
down.” Kimmy didn’t care. “B-but… it’s the Memberlist! The Memberlist! That
precious book can only be held and seen by higher authority members!” Then, the
blond smiled. “Don’t worry! It’s not the Memberlist. It’s a photocopy
Glaceonwhisper made for me!” Kimmy was rest assured. “Oh. And what’s that?” she
asked, pointing towards the light brown sack greenluigi was carrying. “It’s a
change of clothes for both of us. If we’re going to be real adventurers, we’d
better get rid of these dumb shorts and T-shirts. Just toss ‘em off that cliff.
Throw these on!” He threw the change of clothes to Kimmy. “Alright.” In a few short
moments, they were geared up for ‘true adventure’ – according to green, that
is. Greenluigi was wearing a dark, green, long-sleeved shirt and a pair of dark
blue overalls. He also put on a green cap with an ‘L’ logo on it, big, white
gloves, and a pair of brown clogs. NintendoFanKimmy was wearing a very dark
green T-shirt, and an unbuttoned blue jacket with yellow pockets and short,
white sleeves. She was also wearing light blue jeans, dark blue shoes
resembling Converse All-Stars, and light green gloves that were cut around the
finger-tip area with darker cuffs on her wrists. “Let’s go.” The two rookies
wandered around the new world they were in, and were astounded by many of their
surroundings. “Sure is different from Vizzed,” commented Kimmy. Green nodded in
agreement. “Yeah.” They continued walking through the meadow; each step forward
led to less lively and darker trees. They kept on making their way through
until they came across a small hut made of straw and hay. They smelled a
delicious aroma brewing from inside, and they noticed steam flowing from a
small opening in the roof. Kimmy walked over to the door and knocked on it. The
wooden door, which was the only part of the tiny hut made of something other
than straw and hay, opened. Standing behind it was a short, elderly woman with
long, wavy, gray hair. She was wearing a big, red robe. “Hello, children. You
look worn out. Are you from here?” Kimmy and green looked at each other. “No,”
they answered in unison. “We’re not staying here, either,” pointed out
greenluigi. “Right,” said NintendoFanKimmy. “We’re on a quest to save our
homeland.” The old woman nodded. “Ah… Foreigners. You poor things are obviously
tired and hungry. Come in,” she encouraged them, making a gesture with her
hands. “I was just fixing up some chicken stew. I wouldn’t forgive myself for
not nourishing starving passerby with noble intentions. You need it.” The
cousins didn’t want to impose, but they knew she was right. They couldn’t
refuse an offer like that and the state they were in. “Thank you, ma’am,”
thanked Kimmy as they were walking in. The luscious scent of the soup filled
the air, and was tempting. The kind old lady placed three small, ceramic bowls
on the wooden table. The guests sat down. Then, the woman poured some nice, hot
soup into each bowl and gave them spoons. “Enjoy, young ones!” Kimmy and green
thanked her and heartily gulped down the stew. It was delicious, and it
included cooked carrots and strips of chicken. After a belch, followed by an
“excuse me”, green said, “Thanks, ma’am! This was delicious!” The old lady
chuckled. “Don’t worry! There’s a second course! I’m almost done heating it
up!” Kimmy’s eyes widened. “Thank goodness!” She patted her stomach. “I’m still
up for more!” Within a few moments’ time, the second course was ready and
served without hesitation. “Bon appétit!” Kimmy was more than happy. “Noodles!
Awesome!” Then, the no longer hungry guests finished up their meals. “Yum!”
exclaimed greenluigi, slurping down the last spoonful of noodles. “Again, miss,
thank you very much. We had better get goi-“ The lady put her frail hand on
NintendoFanKimmy’s shoulder. “Wait. You children told me you were from the
nearby city of Vizzed. Why?” Kimmy sat back down, and so did green. “Because
it’s been attacked,” answered green. “We’re looking for the virus and hacker
responsible, and plan to stop them before any other attacks take place – unless
they already have.” The woman looked surprised. Then, she looked at the
crinkling fire in the fireplace next to her. She sighed. “Were there any
fires?” Then, she partially blew it out. “Or shadows?” Greenluigi nodded. “Yep.
Both, actually.” The seemingly knowledgeable old lady looked worried. “Then, it
was without a doubt the XZH hack.” NintendoFanKimmy was confused. “XZH hack?
What’s that?” she asked, fearing this would be the arch nemesis she and green
had to face. At least they would learn a little but about their future opponent.
“Let me explain,” began the lady. “One day in the fictional world beyond ours,
which they call ‘The Real World’, there were three fourteen-year old friends
who decided to have a little fun with our world, the Electronic World. Sadly,
wonderful as it is, our world is inferior to the one beyond, and there are
people called ‘hackers’ who are easily able to toy with this world and its
inhabitants. These friends put together the greatest hack to date. The teens,
Xavier, Zoey, and Hailey named it the XZH hack after their initials. These
people have died long ago, but their hack lives on. Its power and age started
to get out of hand, and it was becoming more and more destructive as the years
went by. In recent months, it began to develop a mind of its own. Its cruel
nature hadn’t changed, though. Back in ’96, the hack made its biggest problem
yet – giving beings of the Electronic World that weren’t supposed to feel or
have minds… feel and have minds. These are primarily antagonists of video games
and such. You and I, however, and all of your other friends in Vizzed are real,
living people who are pure, kind-hearted, and deserve to feel and think. The
antagonists weren’t originally supposed to be really living, just stimulated,
but we have XZH to thank for remedying that. Some of the most dangerous
used-to-be fictional villains were in a deep slumber up until recently, when
they attacked your city.”
