Arbok... oh Arbok. Don't think you can get through the industry just because you are a big snake (or cobra with a k and backwards) who can poison... cuz you CAN'T. Back then this guy was among the first, and the WORST, of the many, many, MANY poison types from the very first gen. You poison fans could have Muk, Weezing, Nidoking and Nidoqueen, Venomoth, Beedrill, even a Haunter or Gengar. You didn't even NEED a poison type for poison moves, just ask any pokemon that can learn a TM and they'll say they can learn TM 06. But the bottom of the barrel was this piece of crap. Now it has pretty sucky stats, and back then it had REALLY sucky moves. But as pokemon, as you could say..."evolved" over time, maybe it isn't so bad anymore. I mean sure, it's still among the worst of the worst (or it's pre-evolved form Ekans is but we're talking about them at their prime) of the poison types out there, but with some touching up it could be useable... maybe... naw probably you'd replace it with Goodra.

Poison types used to only be super-effective on grass and bug, but bugs only get normal damage now, even though poison types have bug resistance. Now to make up for it fairies have a weakness to poison for some stupid reason. It's good to have more options, cause even though grass types are pretty common steel types take no damage from poison what-so-ever. They can't even be afflicted by poison.?Fighting types don't do as much damage to poison types... I still don't get it just go with it...?Now for abilities. It has the ability intimidate, WE ALL KNOW THAT ONE, and shed skin. Shed skin is a great ability that lets you recover from a status condition after a few turns. Other skinners are the cocoon pokemon, other serpentine pokemon, couple of bugs, and Scraggy and Scrafty, so you don't have many options for one other than Scrafty and Seviper (much better snake by the way, I recommend this one instead of Arbok). It's hidden ability (still don't know how you get these anyways...) is, get this, unnerve. The foe is too nervous to use berries? Why is it that some of these extra special hidden abilities are worse than regular ones? Anyways let's see those beautiful stats.
HP 60: I was wrong this is hideous...
Attack 85: Good, but um, this can't be the best right? RIGHT?
Defense 69: You can't have bad defense AND HP! That's like breaking the arm of a person in a wheelchair!
Sp Attack 65: 65? 65!?!? 65!!!???!??!??! DO YOU HAVE ANY IDEA WHAT A POISON TYPE DOES?
Sp Defense 79: Well at least the psychic pokemon won't hurt as much! Yep, psychic is super-effective with poison. They really stretched in making resistances and weaknesses for this thing. Punching poison doesn't work... but lifting poison in the air with psychic abilities or digging it underground? It's super-effective! Critical hit! Also we know what happened to Tinker Bell when SHE drank poison right?
Speed 80: The one stat I don't give a crap about... and it's the second best stat... why? WHY!?

Let's get over with this... Ekans will know wrap, a normal move that has 15 damage, 90 accuracy, does tiny TINY damage for 4-5 turns, and you can't escape while wrapped. Big whoop... also knows Leer... yay?
Lvl. 4 Poison Sting: 15x1.5 damage, 100 accuracy, has a 1/3 chance of poisoning the opponent. So you can always wrap it, then repeatedly sting it so it's being wrapped, poisoned, and you keep shooting it with 22 or 23 total damage due to typing match.
Lvl. 9 Bite: A dark move for 60 damage, 100 accuracy, a third of a chance to make the opponent flinch.?So you can always wrap it, then repeatedly sting it so it's being wrapped, poisoned, and you bite it's head over and over. Keep on upgrading...
Lvl. 12 Glare: This makes no sense. The user shows the pattern on it's belly to scare the opponent and paralyze it. This move has 100 accuracy so it's great, but what belly pattern? It's still an Ekans! Ekans don't have no belly eyes!
Lvl. 17 Screech: It's basically like 2 Leers in one, no thank you game. Then again these moves do tiny damage, so for once, JUST ONCE, it may help... sad...
Lvl. 20 Acid: 40x1.5 damage, 100 accuracy, there's a tiny chance you will lower the target's special defense, but you already have practically no use when Ekans' and Arbok's Sp Attack is so low...
Upon evolution you learn Crunch, it does 20 more damage than Bite.
At level 27, right after becoming Arbok, you learn 3 moves, Stockpile, Swallow, and Spit-Up. With stockpile every time you use it your defense and special defense raise one level. The more times you use it the more HP you regain when you use Swallow, or the more damage you do when you use Spit-Up. When you use those two moves though the effects of Stockpile disappear, so you waste turns to gain defense only to wait 1-3 turns to restore health when you are probably already taking more damage than you can heal, and it's better to use an attack 1-3 times than save up for Spit-Up, so I don't recommend ANY of these, not like it would be a good idea to take up 2 or 3 move spots anyways.
Lvl. 32 Acid Spray: This move is the special version of screech, but hey, I give it props for giving me NIGHTMARES.
"The user spits fluid that works to melt the target."
Lvl. 39 Mud Bomb: It's weakness is ground, yet it knows this move... whatever... 65 damage, 85 accuracy, 1/3 of lowering accuracy. Again, not compatible due to low as heck Sp Attack.
Lvl. 44 Gastro Acid: Fighting ANOTHER pokemon with some kind of status curing ability? Use this move and it's ability won't work. Well, good thing you young viewers don't know what gastric acids are, aww who am I kidding, everyone is gonna look up what it means...
Lvl. 48 Belch: If you have a berry on you, you eat it, and you have 90 accuracy of landing a special poison move for 120 damage. Wow, first you barf on your enemies, now you burp on them!? Yur gross man...
Lvl. 51 Haze: relinquish?
relinquish022 : PFFTTTTHAHAHAHAHAHAH
there, that was a great explanation of the move...
Lvl. 56 Coil: It coils up to raise attack, defense, and accuracy. Ok maybe the accuracy has something going for this... but otherwise, copy and paste...
relinquish022 : PFFTTTTHAHAHAHAHAHAH
Lvl. 61 the final "wild card" of this pokemon, we've waited so long... for Gunk Shot! This move was born 5th gen, and suits the attack power of Arbok. The user throws trash at it's opponent, does that mean Garbodor can sue? But yeah, garbage, burping, and puke attacks, you are one of a kind Arbok... So it's one of few moves that still do 120 damage instead of 110, and accuracy is 80 instead of 70 or 75. Kewl!
Now this move's final point is a third of a chance to poison the target, great upgraded Sludge Bomb with physical damage! Still the road to getting this move was hard and unforgiving, so you probably traded it in for another team member anyways by now. Sorry Arbok, you should have TOLD us that you have trash powers before giving us the Stockpile family, Acid Spray, Gastro Acid, and FREAKING HAZE.

Now maybe we can rebuild him... faster, stronger, so let's use the power of TM's!
Now my recommendation is one with shed skin, that also knows Crunch, Poison Jab, and Gunk Shot. Don't have much more going for it anyways, I'd give it one of those poison type move enhancers whatever you call it or maybe black sludge. EV's 250 for Attack and Sp Defense and 10 for regular Defense. Anyways, you still suck Arbok...
R.I.P. Arbok 1991-now you never stood a chance to that Charmeleon's Metal Claw...
