I haven't done a review for a good long time, for like 3 months about, so some parts could be a little rusty, but I'll go ahead and post another review. I wanted to review this because this is a pretty much a game I wanted to try out when I was young when I was reading an issue of Nintendo Power about this game and looked fun to try out, but never have until now. This review is Wario Land for the Virtual Boy, despite the lack of games and it's lifetime, I do like to play this game, it is pretty neat and all, I'll describe on those with each of the categories.
Graphics: Despite with the typical Virtual Boy's Red and Black screen, the graphics are pretty good though WIth how the foreground and background is like and with Virtual Boy's 3D, this game's graphics really great and fit in with the VB. although the only problem is with the Red/Black colors, it can really hurt on your eyes overtime though, that pretty much why the VB didn't last long. Dispite that, I think the graphics are alright though.
I give this a 9 out of 10. ------
Sound/Music: The Sound effects of the game is pretty great, even for the Virtual Boy, the music is much clearer and nice that from the Game Boy / Game Boy Color versions, although some sounds and music does sound a little cheesy but still, pretty nice music though. Although the sound and music, although it sounds great here and there and some music does fit with the levels and some, not so much, it pretty much depends on the level you're playing.
I give this an 8 out of 10 ------
Addictiveness: I do got to say, even with the Red/Black screen, this game can be a little addicting in a way, Like the previous Wario games, the Virtual Boy's version is really addicting, mostly you really like to play the things I mentioned before (like the graphics and sound/music), and the gameplay of it, and like I said in the intro, I wanted to play this game so bad since I was young and I finally have.
I give this a 9 out of 10 ------
Story: The story in this game is pretty interesting, Wario was on vacation, flying an airplane to a basin to hang out and relax until he happen to spot some mask-guys?carrying?some?treasure and with typical Wario, we wanted to get that treasure so he followed them and then he landed into a trap and now stuck underground he finds his way to those mask-guys and ger revenge and take the?treasure.
I give this an 8 out of 10 ------
Depth: The Depth of this game is pretty great, the reason is with all the new power-ups and the returning power-ups from the first Wario game (Wario Land: Super Mario Land 3), although it doesn't have as many power-ups than Wario Land II and 3 has, but still has quite a number of power-ups, plus with all the levels you can pick and the mini-games from the first Wario game also makes a return and get a chance to get more hearts and/or coins.
I give this a 9 out of 10 ------
Difficulty: The difficulty of this game is extremely hard, because of the gameplay and the Red/Black screen can though you off though, because they could be an enemy hiding from you and you don't even know it till it's like too late, and some of the enemies, especially with the bosses, they will take quite a bit of time to beat if your not used to playing this game, or even the Virtual Boy for that matter, but if you're used to it, then the game will be a pretty easy game to beat nonetheless.
I give this a 9 out of 10. ------
Overall: Overall, I pretty much got to say, despite the?Virtual?Boy's short?lifespan, this game is a pretty great game to try out and if somehow, you manage to get your hands on a Virtual Boy, my?recommencement?game would be Wario Land because this game is extremely fun to play on the VB, this game was the best selling game for the VB, despite it's low game count.
