Mine had to be Super Metroid on the SNES. It had awesome and creepy music, and it's so addicting.

My 2nd was the Metroid for the Gamecube. It was probably the best transition for 2D to 3D. Next to the Mario series.

My first game was Metroid Prime on the Gamecube, although at that point I was around age 7, had no idea what I was doing, and the guidance messages you get from your ship didn't show up. I think after that, about 3 years later, I actually replayed and beat Prime, and then I moved on to play Metroid and Super Metroid, although I forgot which order I played them in.

My first metroid game in the series was metroid 2, and as a 5 years-old kid (maybe even less), it was a creepy as hell to me.
I still remember my first encounter with that alien metroid bug thingy boss, the sound effect scared me a lot and add to the fact that it was an encounter scene so I couldn't move until the scene is over, which has added to the already overwhelming fear in my mind. and once I couldn't move again, I pressed the "B" as fast as I can, but it just won't die even after 100 of hits (which I later found that you have to press "Select"), it wasn't a pleasent thing for a child....
I came back 5 years later to get my revenge, and I did....and later on, I encounter that same alien bug again......only more grown. And again my hair went white.
Sometimes I think metroid can be a little scary for children....especially at that age.

I had always heard or seen the name metroid, but never actually knew what it was like...until I started playing on vizzed. My first metroid game was Metroid Zero Mission and I loved it. Oddly enough, I chose the remake of the first one to start with! Since then I have crushed Zero mission, the entire prime trilogy, Metroid other M (in hard mode!) and Metroid fusion. I was disappointed to find that was pretty much it. Unfortunately, Metroid is a relatively small franchise, that seems to be liked just well enough to stay alive. I really think that it deserves a little more than that!

Metroid on the NES. I was a kid in the 80s. and didn't really care for it. SNES version was better to me, and I got more into that one. I wouldn't say I'm a Metroid fan, really.
