Hello everyone my name is Deadend136 and this is Top 10 Pokémon List. Now I am sure I am not the only gamer who tends to use a set team before playing and replaying Pokémon titles. Now your job as Pokémon game fans is to post your Top 10 list as well not only for fun but to help me become a little more diverse for my Let's Play videos which I will be starting in the next couple of weeks. I do request you all at least try to make full team of 6s for each game you have experience with playing. I will be putting my list of Top 10 just because as a gamer I do tend to try to be a little diverse during Pokémon games and also because sometimes you need more than a set team of 6 Pokémon to get through certain hacks. So lets begin!

Pokémon Red and Blue:
1) I always use Charmander as a starter in these titles and even hacks.
2) Nidoran (Male) I always make an effort to have this powerhouse Pokémon on every team I go through this game with because Nidoking can learn such a diverse move set and the way how it can be used to battle so many gyms without being very vulnerable is incredible!
3) Pidgey. I know that some of you may use Spearow instead but personally I enjoy using Pidgey and I am so used to its move sets that I almost never use Spearow instead.
4) Bellsprout. I know it is most likely not the best grass type Pokémon to use in these games but I usually choose to have a Bellsprout just for the fact that I could poison, paralyze, and put an enemy Pokémon to sleep. Other than that I usually have it just so I could be able to heal my team members if I am struggling against a hard opponent.
5) Krabby. This is what I use since I need a Pokémon to teach surf to and my main party I never really like giving them HM moves during the game.
6) Mankey. Since I tend to use Charmander every time playing through this game I always need to train up either a Mankey or a Butterfree in order to beat Brock. Now I really do not have any use for Butterfree after the first gym or Mankey but it is easier to train Mankey than it is to train up a Caterpie to a Butterfree and then a few extra levels.
7) Magikarp. I know that Magikarp is very hard to train but I have to admit for these games having a Gyrados in your main team is actually very helpful during different situations.
8) This is a tie between Abra and Geodude. I do not always like using Abra in these games and if I have a Nidoking I do not really like also having a Geodude but on a rare occasion I do use one of them.
10) Tie between Ratatta and Magnemite. What can I say I love Raticate in games. Not only is Hyper Fang spamming incredibly helpful but being a normal type that can learn different elemental moves. Also Magnemite is very helpful and in most cases is a decent trade up for Bellsprout. Also I love Magneton's defense.

Silver, Crystal, and Gold
1) Either Cyndaquil or Totidile. I usually tend to use Cyndaquil but when I do after a while it ends up being my weakest Pokémon in my main team when I play these titles. Totidile is a time saver in many cases and also it is usually the average level of the Pokémon in my party I have that is also always replaced by either the Shiny Gyrados or Suicune.
2) Pidgey. Now I know Pidgey is not the best Pokémon in this game and Spearow in most cases is a much better member for a main team but I have to say that Pidgey comes in handy when I need it most and it is not very hard to train either.
3) Geodude. This Pokémon is one of the easiest to train in my opinion and the uses it has throughout the whole game is quite good. It may not be the best team member for certain leaders and Elite 4 but overall I usually always have it on my team from beginning to end.
4) Abra. I love using a Kadabra so much and I always teach it this move set:Ice punch, Thunder punch, Fire punch, and Psychic. In these games I have never played with Alakazam in my party but still Kadabra is always a great Pokémon to have and play with throughout these games.
5) Shiny Gyrados. This is usually my HM slave but it is decently leveled when you catch it so it could also be used as slaughter to heal or revive fallen party members. Also it doesn't have many weaknesses so if you are going up against a hard gym leader it will still take a few turns to have it faint.
6) Mareep. It may not be the best Electric type in the game but for the time you get it all the way until the end it can really pack a punch if you use it right!
7) Wooper. Now this Pokémon can actually do a lot for a gamer in these titles due to being both a ground type as well as a water type once it evolves. In some play throughs if I do not start out with a Totidile I always try to catch a Wooper to have as my water type for the game.
8) Bellsprout. This Pokémon is usually only used until the Elite 4 just because with the move set I usually teach it the Pokémon is very hard to train on wild Pokémon. So that being said if you decide to use this Pokémon in these titles be aware that you may need to switch it out not even half way through the game.
9) Golbat. That is right I do not use and train up a Zubat but if I am able to get a decent leveled Golbat in the game I usually end up using it to replace my Pidgeot,
10) Between Suicune, Tediursa, and Raticate. All three of these Pokémon are great for any team and usually used as sweepers so if I need 2 sweepers (especially for the Elite 4 and the final boss) I usually have at least one of these 3 Pokémon on my team.

Ruby and Sapphire
1) I have used all the starters in these titles just because of the fact that they are very unique and they all have good stats and uses. I tend to use Torchic the most followed by Mudkip, then Treeko.
2) Aron. This Pokémon is always a key Pokémon every time I play these titles. Defense on this Pokémon is just that great and the move sets when you catch it are also great. Usually this Pokémon would be a replacement if catching a Nidoran (M) was a possibility at the same time.
3) Between Wingull and Taillow. Depending on the starter Pokémon I choose it is usually between these two flying type Pokémon I usually go through the game with. Taillow has great speed and Wingull is both Flying and Water type which is very helpful if you do not have a water type for your team.
4) I absolutely love using Absol even though you have to go through most of the game until you are able to catch one. I usually stack my Absol with the great TMs I find on the maps and also the ones I win from gym leaders.
5) Numel. Being both Fire and Ground type it is terrible against water trainers but other than that its stats are great and the moves it could learn are incredibly strong.
6) Between Swellow and Trapinch. They can both be key players in these games but they can not be very fun to train so I usually just use the daycare hack with these two.
7) Poochyena. Not one of my favorites but its ability is very helpful and being a dark type it is actually pretty decent as slaughter so you could heal your team during battle.
8) Electrike. By far one of my least favorite in game Pokémon to use but its stats are really not that bad and it can be very good to use throughout the game. Also many gamers and fans love using this Pokémon during the game.
9) Duskull. One of my favorite Ghost types and Dusklops has pretty good stats and is quite popular with fans.
10) Between Beldum, Shroomish, and Tropius. All three of these Pokémon have great stats and great move sets. I usually like using Shroomish the most out of these 3 because of how early you could catch this Pokémon. But I do not like using it when I have Torchic as a starter because 2 fighting types on your team is never really recommended.

And that is my list of the Top 10 Pokémon I like to use in the games! I did not include any of the newer games just because I have not really played them enough to have a Top 10 list. So everyone feel free to type away and give me all of your lists! If you recommend Pokémon for me to use during my Let's Play videos then I will nickname that specific Pokémon after you!

Whoa, this is long. And it's really good. This is really cool if you didn't just plagiarize this! Haha, just kidding. I doubt you did. Nice job! This is a good Pokémon list!

Very nice analysis on these Pokémon. One thing however, what are your thoughts on Slakoth? His evolutions cans serve much better as a wall than Poochyena. Teach Slaking Shadow ball and he can easily take care of the Ghost types too.

Also, Tropius too frail imo to have on a team. Sure he may be able to learn a few good attack that can surely take advantage of weaknesses, but Tropius itself is very susceptible to OHKO due to its weak defense, especially against Ice. I usually use Tropius as an HM slave.

goodboy : This is 100% original. I will admit it took some research since I have not played a few of the originals for a couple months and also so I could be able to back up the move sets and stats comments I put. But in actuality it really is not that long if you look at it. It only looks long because of the fact that I put 10 team members for 3 games and had 1-2 sentences explaining why. So the word count may be a little larger than you would think but for what it is and what it says it really is not much. It did take me a good 20-25 minutes to type up though lol But one thing you have to know about me is that I take Pokémon games very seriously as a gamer so be aware. Also would love to see what Pokémon lists you come up with so if you want to feel free to you do not even need to explain why you could just list them all.

Sidewinder : As far as walls I feel that Slakoth and Gulpin are great for Ruby, Sapphire, and even Emerald depending on how you use them. I also usually have Tropius as an HM slave but Tropius is really not all that bad because of the moves it could use and how beneficial it could be for your team in general if you choose not to have it as an HM slave. In a recent hack I actually had a team of: Torchic, Gulpin, Electrike, Makuhita, and Aron and actually really liked that team a lot but again it always depends on the play style you decide to use. Personally I actually never paid attention to the actual stats of Pokemon because I never really had to due to the fact that I never experimented much and that actually helps me more now since now I can really set up moves to match a Pokemon and its playing style which you should use. But for your wall question Slakoth would be an ideal wall and it is ranked the most powerful Pokemon stats wise but I personally never really liked using it so a wall for me would either be Numel even though a Numel shouldn't be used as a wall and like I said before Gulpin. I tend to never really use a wall type Pokemon for my wall. Usually I play all the Pokemon games with a team of 4 which I use throughout the game and the last 2 slots go to the highest level Pokemon I randomly pick up. Very rarely do I use a team of 6 unless I want to take the time to train all of them accordingly which I am not one to train so much especially because the space bar can only increase the speed so much.

Deadend136 : Oh ok, I understand. I myself don't use walls as much. If I do, I would usually use Slakoth or Wailord. Otherwise, I usually tend to go for offensive Pokémon the most, even if they may be glass canons. A Pokémon I most always use for my team is Gardevoir. Calm Mind + Psychic/Thunderbolt always helps me out. I also choose Mudkip as my starter at least 95% of the time...but he really isn't beneficial in the E4 except with the dragon type guy, but I can always get another water type to do that or attempt to catch a Feebas.
Slakoth is frustrating for people to use due to the ability Truant, which makes the Pokémon attack every other turn. Slakoth can serve as both a wall and sweeper though, so he kind of is very valuable to my team.

Sidewinder :
1) To be honest I almost never use a Wailmer. Mostly because I never need a water type since I always have either the Mudkip or the Wingull. I have heard that Wailord is a very valuable team member though so maybe I will do a little experimenting.
2) I agree some other Pokémon I love to use in Ruby and Sapphire are: Spheal, Ralts, and Meditite. The reason I did not include them in my Top 10 was because I do not really have a reason I use them other than I love the move sets, evolutions, and just like the Pokémon in general. This guide was more about what I use as a team to just get through the games. Only in hacked versions I use Bagon just because I never was able to find one in the original and usually in hacks they have Bagon in the wild right off the bat.
3) Mudkip to me has always been fun to use just because a water and ground type is just a great combo. But you are right Mudkip has many uses but the E4 is definitely not really one of them as much as it pains me to even say that!
4) Your reasoning why Slaking is never really used by gamers I have the same opinion on and that ability is actually why I never really used it. As a wall it is in my opinion even better than Snorlax and its power is of course extremely massive but it actually can't be used as a sweeper. Usually I think of sweepers as quick Pokémon who can K.O. other Pokémon if the move is right in one hit. Now Slaking can in fact learn many great moves but I am more of a S.Attack user and Slaking stats for that are extremely low which is another reason why I never really use it.

I'll only do the Kanto region cause I don't wanna type out an essay lol.

1) Squirtle: My reasoning for this is that as a starter, when people are first learning, having bolstered defense stats are quite helpful. He learns a variety of Water, Normal and Ice moves with the occasional Dark move thrown in, adding a nice touch and diversity. He holds his own even against super effect types and can dish a lot of pain if used correctly. It doesn't completely sweep the first 2 gyms but it does at least resist the second, allowing newer players to become accustomed to fighting evolved Pokemon (such as Starmie)

2) Pidgey: This thing has always been my number 2 guy, my wingman to my Squirtle. His evolutions almost mirror the water starter, meaning he rises in power almost in perfect sync. He is ever so valuable with Fly, and can learn several nice Flying and Normal type moves. And in general I've always liked this guy. Versatile and quick, but can't take too many hits.

3) Jolteon: Fast and strong. This thing, with Thunderbolt, can rip through just about anything with it's monstrous speed and special attack stats. It literally is like a staple in my team, and is usually the choice I evolve my Eevee into. It doesn't cover its own weaknesses too well, but if you leave him out against a Ground type you deserve to have it faint.

4) Snorlax: As a special type wall, nothing gets better than Snorlax. It also has impressive HP and Attack, meaning this thing can dish out some serious pain as long as you dont leave him against a Fighting type. Coupled with Rest and maybe Snore or Sleep Talk, this thing can heal itself while dealing damage and you can't ask for much more than that.

5) Arcanine: If i had to choose a Fire type that could probably match Charizard it'd be this one. He's fast, learns good strong fire moves, and isn't too hard to get. He's probably my favorite Fire type out of the entire original 151. Just be careful not to evolve the Growlithe before you learn Flamethrower otherwise its a lot of money to get it from the Game Corner...

6) Lapras: If for some reason I don't choose Squirtle, I usually pick this one up to cover my Water slot. It also learns Ice Beam through leveling which is nice, otherwise it'll cost you $80,000 to teach it. While it's stats aren't stellar it makes up for it in versatility, even learning Thunderbolt I believe and Sing. Or you could run Perish Song and just stall enemies out.

7) Hitmonlee: Strong and quick. Most of my favorites hit fast and hit hard. They aren't too bulky though so this one fits right in. The ever useful Fighting type is just a given. It helps against the annoying Normal types and helps also against the Steel, even though Fire and Ground also help. But Hitmonlee is a beast with both Hi Jump Kick and if you tutor it with Rock Slide. And believe me there is little he won't kick through.

8) Dragonite: You can't forget this guy. Amazing stats, the ever powerful Dragon typing, and is one of the few 50+ level evolutions out there. There's a reason this guy is a psuedo-legendary. It takes time and effort and some frustration, but raising up one of these from a Dratini guarantees a veritable beast on your hands. Amazingly large and diverse movepool, the stats to pull off either physical or special moves, and bulkiness to survive quite a few hits, this pokemon just HAD to be in my Top 10. It's only the level 55 evolution that drops it to 8th place.

9) Magikarp: The King of Karp always has a place on here. The sheer effort of training up a Gyarados from a humble Magikarp. And not like any of you cheap cheaters who just use a Super Rod to catch a Gyarados straight out. You don't know the pain. The suffering. The time and effort spent into using Tackle for the umpteenth time in taking down Wild Rattata and Pidgey cause anything else is too strong. The relief and pride you feel when it evolved and the ever further level of 20. Believe me, you've earned your wings and halo if you train one of these guys from level 5 to 20. It also helps Gyarados is literally a monster to fight against.

10) Ditto: I'm a big fan of breeding. I love getting great natures or egg moves or even just having something to trade to friends for cool pokemon i couldn't get otherwise. This is literally my golden ticket. It has no use other than that for me since the original always beats the copy so i can't really incorporate him into my team.

1) I love how you laid that all out for me with descriptions, I may actually use one of those which you mentioned
2) Thank you for taking the time for even just that one region. I know how time consuming these lists could be especially for those of us who make an effort to really fill in our explanations with many details.
3) I think Pidgey and Spearow are always used for this region just because they are the only 2 flying types you could really catch right at the beginning of the game.
4) I actually have never used any of the Eevee evolutions to be honest. I think it is just because I feel like if you try out one you have to find a way to use all of them. I have used Glaceon though and I loved it! If I ever use an Eevee which in some hacks your starter is an Eevee I will evolve it into a Jolteon and definitely name it after you.
5) Snorlax is basically a Chansey on steroids as far as it being a classic wall Pokémon. I think that Snorlax does deserve to be in the first team any gamer uses for this region just because it is not only a classic wall but also a classic Pokémon that we fans will always remember!
6) I have used Arcanine and absolutely love its speed the most. I had no idea about that flamethrower move so thank god you mentioned it because every fire trainer knows that move is a very strong move that you cannot do without!
7) Laparas is one of those Pokémon I actually never gotten a chance to really use. I hear it is a great Pokémon to have and actually fits quite well with any team it is on.
8) Hitmonlee is one of my favorite show Pokémon but I never really used it during games because I always used Hitmonchan due to the elemental punches and to me that is more effective as a team member.
9) I absolutely HATE training Dratini and that is why I never have truly been able to experience playing with a Dragonite after all the time it took to train it up from a low leveled Dratini.
10) Ditto is what I personally call the "daycare" Pokémon. By that I mean that it is only used mostly for the daycare and egg purposes. My friend actually was able to have a lv.87 Ditto I think just from using it so much for the daycare and EVs.(Which I have absolutely no concept about stats and EVs just confuse me so much that I would never be able to fully understand it)

Kanto:

1. I always have to use one of the starters. The one I use for the Kanto region is Squirtle. Good all-around Pokémon and in my opinion, the best starter of the first generation.

2. Zubat. It can be hard to train at its first stage, but Crobat is well worth it. You can find wild Zubat everywhere; and right off the bat, you have your Surf & Fly users.

3. Growlithe. Great all-around Pokémon. Offensively, it is a force to be reckoned with. Arcanine can take down nearly anything it goes up against.

4. Exeggcute. It's final evolution, Exeggutor, is an excellent attacker. Phenomenal special attack along with a surprisingly good attack stat. Also an interesting type combination of Grass/Psychic.

5. Machop. You can find them relatively early on. Strong physical attacker with also decent defenses.

6. I tend to stay away from using some of the more popular Pokémon, but Gastly is always a good fit in my team. If you have someone to trade with, you can evolve it fairly quickly. Gengar may not be able to take many hits, but it makes up for that with excellent special attack and speed.

7. Kangaskhan. A good physical attacker with decent speed and defenses. Although it's a normal type, it can learn a variety of moves which makes for great coverage.

8. Koffing. Another one that may be hard to train at first, but Weezing is an exceptional Pokémon. Not only can it take hits, but it can dish some out as well. The downside is, Koffing doesn't evolve until level 35.

9. I have to go with Hitmonlee here. Great attack with decent speed, add in a number of great moves to choose from makes this a dangerous Pokémon.

10. Mankey. Another good physical attacker with surprising speed. However, I wouldn't recommend using more than two of the same type on the same team.

This is as far as I'll go for now. I'll come back with the Johto region maybe tomorrow.

Chewedmint :
1) I usually get a Golbat in the Johto games. Truth be told Zubat is just really hard to train from level 5 until it evolves in the Kanto region mostly because of how leech life really is not a great move. At least in Crystal, Gold, and Silver you could catch level 20+ Golbats and just throw it in the daycare for a few levels which does not take more than a few minutes especially with the help of the space bar.
2) I actually have yet to use Exeggcute during Pokémon games. I did have one during my time playing Ash Gray which is a hack I recommend for every Pokémon fan who grew up watching the show to play. The thing is I only used it when I needed to heal all my team members since the typing was unique enough where I could heal 2-3 team members until it would finally faint. So you could say that I technically used it as a wall even though it is mainly used as a sweeper I believe.
3) Kangaskhan is a Pokémon I always wanted to play through a game with. It seems like even though it can be considered a wall to some players it does like you said have good moves and decent stats. So if there is a hack where you can choose Kangaskhan as a starter definitely show me! (If there isn't I may just make one)
4) Koffing is surprisingly a decent Pokémon which I have used in the rocket hacks. You are right when you said it evolves so much later on in the games than it really should which makes giving it a chance harder to do but I was never disappointed when I chose to use it on a team. Also poison types in general are unique and they are also really fun to use and could come in handy if you are facing a gym leader that does not have any full heals.
5) The only problem I ever had with Mankey was the fact that it had very low defense stats. To me I like speedy attackers/sweepers as my usual team with 1-2 walls but Mankey never truly made the cut for one of my main team slots while playing through these games. Though I do always pick it over Butterfree just to beat Brock since I almost always choose Charmander as a starter.
So definitely continue to give me lists because I may actually use an Exeggcute in one of my Let's Play videos I will be doing if I use a Kanto version and want to mix it up a little bit.

Minor correction for my first post: Crobat is introduced in the second generation, not the first.

Here is my list for the Johto region:

1. As I stated before, not using a starter just doesn't feel right to me. However, this is the only generation where I don't have a clear favorite or preference when it comes to the three starters. When I was younger, I would always pick Chikorita. Now, I prefer offense over defense so I will go with Cyndaquil here. Cyndaquil is the best offensively out of the three, and also has by far the best speed.

2. Zubat. It can be hard to train at its first stage, but Crobat is well worth it. You can find wild Zubat everywhere.

3. Mareep. Found early on in the G/S/C games, Mareep has always found its way onto my team. While its speed is surprising low, it has excellent special attack and defense. It also learns one of my favorite moves, confuse ray. The learnset is quite weak overall, so you will have to give it a TM move or two.

4. Once again, I have to go with Gastly. To good to pass up on, considering you can find them before you even take on the first gym leader. You can find them in Sprout Tower located in Violet City.

5. Heracross. Another great all-around Pokémon. (excluding special attack, but fighting types don't need special attack anyway) You can find them by headbutting trees.

6. Horsea. Kingdra is just a beast, plain and simple. I always had trouble trying to beat Clair's Kingdra. However, you won't be able to fully evolve it for a long time, because you won't find the necessary evolution item anytime soon. Seadra is definitely still worth using, though.

7. Scyther. It has amazing stats for a first stage Pokémon. Try to catch one in the bug catching contest; it will not disappoint you. You can evolve it to Scizor if you want, but you can't go wrong with either one of them.

8. Magmar. You'll have to wait until you reach Ecruteak city to find this one, but it's definitely worth using if you need a good fire type on your team. Low defense, but other than that, it's a solid Pokémon.

9. Remoraid. It can be tough to train, but it evolves at only level 25. Octillery is a solid offensive Pokémon. You can use it as a physical or special attacker, or even a mixed attacker, as both the base attack and special attack stats are the same.

10. Houndour. A good offensive Pokémon, particularly its special attack. Add in its superb speed, and this Pokémon can be a lot of fun to use. However, there is a major disappointment with this one. You can't catch one until after you unlock the Kanto region.

Now here's a Johto Region list. I will stick to only Johto based Pokemon or evolutions, not anything found in G/S/C

1) Tyranitar: Not only is this thing a personal absolute favorite, it has a unique typing. It's one of the few Dark types in the game, and has an amazing Attack stat. His defenses aren't too shabby either. He can large a decent variety including Rock, Ground, Dark, Normal, Ice and Electric type moves to name a few.

2) Ampharos: It isn't often you find a Pokemon that is worthy to be on your team for the entire game in the beginning routes of a region. Usually they are only average. Mareep and it's line are an exception. With great Special Attack, and the ability to learn Fire Punch as well as strong electric moves, it evolved early at levels 15 and 30. It's certainly a Pokemon that can hugely benefit any team.

3) Espeon: This new Eevee evolution is basically a slightly bulkier Alakazam, but it sacrifices some Special Attack and Speed in order to not crumple and faint after only one attack. The only downside to Espeon is a mix of needing daytime happiness to evolve and not too wide a range of moves. One of it's strongest possible moves, Shadow Ball, runs off the physical stat unfortunately.

4) Umbreon: The counterpart to Espeon, this thing was a very annoying tank. Between Toxic, amazing defense and special defense, and a bunch of stall moves like Confuse Ray and Mean Look, fighting this thing is a pain.

5) Heracross: This thing is a powerhouse. With access to strong Fighting moves, a monstrous attack stat, and a unique typing, it has quite the advantages going for it. The method of finding it is admittedly a bit unorthodox but it's well worth the wait. Even basic or normal moves like Horn attack, Strength and such do major damage.

6) Typhlosion: Unfortunately, only the fire starter of this region makes my list. Feraligatr was gifted with a great Attack but subpar Special Attack stat. And at this point ALL Water and ICE type attacks run off Special. Meaning he doesn't hold a candle damage wise compared to Typhlosion. Typhlosion can also learn Thunderpunch, helping a bit with covering any type disadvantages.

7) Miltank: As annoying and devastating as this Pokemon is due to Whitney, it is decently strong and posed one of the hardest, challenging battles in the history of our games. Its sheer power and defensive capabilities, especially that early in the game, made it feared.

8) Sneasel: Being one of the few Dark types, along with a nice Ice typing, made this thing pretty formidable. It helped a lot with Clair's Dragons, but is extremely fragile so don't expect this thing to take 2-3 hits before fainting. Its made for fast and strong attacks and anything that survives against it will most likely one shot it, or leave it so far in the red you'll spend all your time trying to heal it.

9) Crobat: This thing's Speed is insane. Will most likely ALWAYS be the fastest thing on your team barring the Legendary Trio of Raikou, Entei and Suicune. While Poison isn't the best attacking element, it allows for the poisoning and that is invaluable. It makes a respectable addition to any team.

10) Kingdra: With a Dragon/Water typing, it means only Dragons can hit it for weakness. Theoretically that means only 2 trainers in the entire game can risk one shotting him. And once you beat Clair that 2 drops to 1, only being Champion Lance. He has great stats, a varied movepool, and even an amazing design. Definitely one of my favorites

Here is my top 10 list for Hoenn:

1. Swampert. Blaziken is definitely the most popular choice here, but it just doesn't feel right for me to play through one of these games without Swampert. It has always been a very reliable Pokémon for me. Great attack, and it also gets STAB Earthquake; that alone can take down just about everything that doesn't resist it. Swampert also has good defenses. However, all three starters in this generation are fantastic. You can't go wrong with any one of them.

2. Manectric. It can't take many hits, but it makes up for that with great special attack and speed. Give it some strong moves and it will wreak havoc. Always been one of my favorite Pokémon to use.

3. Gardevoir. Amazing special attack & defense and decent speed. Ralts is quite difficult to train, but it's still worth it. Gardevoir is a beast.

4. Aggron. Impeccable defense. Let's not forget about its potent attack power, either. This Pokémon can be a tough one to bring down. However, it does take a long time to fully evolve.

5. Camerupt. Good attack & special attack. Couple that with a strong learnset and this is one explosive Pokémon, no pun intended. Just make sure to keep it away from water types at all costs.

6. Cacturne. This is a tricky Pokémon to use. Astounding attack & special attack, but it is quite frail. Despite having six weaknesses, this Pokémon can do some real damage if you give it the right moves.

7. Sharpedo. Amazing attack power along with good special attack and speed. However, the defenses are terrible. If you use it right, it won't need any defense, though. Sharpedo can tear up the opposition in a hurry.

8. Breloom. Great ability in effect spore, and even better attack. Breloom learns a number of powerful fighting type moves. However, you'll need to give it some TM moves to help cover its five weaknesses.

9. Torkoal. Rock solid defense and decent attack & special attack. A very reliable Pokémon, despite being one of the slowest in the game.

10. Pelipper. Very good defense and decent special attack. I like to teach this one Shock Wave to surprise the opponent. Keep it away from electric types at all times or it will almost certainly faint, due to its 4x weakness to electric type moves.

Chewedmint :
1) On my first play through in Pokémon Ruby I actually had a Manectric on my team. I personally did enjoy using it up to a point I just never got over the fact that it could not take many hits even if it was over leveled. I usually like using sweepers and Manectric is the type of Pokémon who can be considered one but its lack of defense is just too much for me to give it another try on my main team.
2) I have to be honest by saying I only recently have been using Gardevoir. Believe it or not in the actual game on my console I was never able to even find one outside of the Petalburg area so I never really got the chance to try it out even though I always wanted to. I love the fact that you could really go all out with TMs with it and it is so effective on any team up against any opponent as long as the opponent does not have a very strong dark type.
3) I always liked using Camerupt the only problem I had with it was how much I really had to train it in order to reach the move set I wanted it to have. It is a very good Pokémon for the region and just overall a great addition to any team or play through as long as you are patient enough to train it to a good level.
4) I have yet to use a Cacturne. I feel like it is a good Pokémon to experiment with but what I never like is having a Pokémon on my team with over 3-4 weaknesses because you can only cover for them so much until it really becomes a problem and hurts the team.
5) Many great friends love Sharpedo and I have to be honest I barely used it, actually I do not think I ever used it to play through a game. Being a Dark and Water type is tricky to me because I usually like having 1 dark type and 1 water type not both together which is probably why I never really used it.
6) Breloom has always been recommended to me even during hacks just because of its amazing attack power as well as its ability. I have to admit though I do not like using it very much because of the fact that it has so many weaknesses and I am just not very compatible with it. (Though Shroomish is a Pokémon who I usually use at the beginning of the game if it takes place in this region.)
7) Never used Torkoal and most likely never will if I have the choice. I just do not like it as a Pokémon in game. It has great defense and special attack but it is too slow and I feel that if I ever really need it even for just a wall it would let me down.
8) I absolutely LOVE LOVE LOVE using Pelipper. That is the one Pokémon who I use so much that it is far too over trained. I love having it know: Ice beam, Shock wave, Fly, and Surf. It is just a really easy Pokémon to use and it could sweep so many teams before you need to switch it out due to not much PP left.

ignavusd :
1) Espeon and Umbreon are two Pokémon I have only used during Pokémon on the gamecube where I had to start out with them. (Forgot the actual game title but it was not XD it was the other one). And I have to say Espeon was fun to use but I never really got the hang of using Umbreon. Do not know what it was either it being the lack of TMs I was able to teach it or that I just did not know how to really use it correctly but I never really got into it as much as others are.
2) I have to be honest Miltank is a Pokémon I feel we all tried to use at least once because of the fact that Whitney's was a pain to get through if you did not have an Onix or a Geodude/Graveler on your team. (Which eventually in those titles I kind of automatically always had a Graveler at that point of the game). I have to say though that it was not compatible to me as a trainer. I do not know what it is but I just really did not like using it and every time I gave it a shot I regretted it and that is only when I was training it up to a good level.
3) I have always wanted to use Sneasel but never had the patience to train one up because of the fact that every time you were able to catch one it would be at least 15 levels under your weakest Pokémon on your team and I could not stand that at all. I hope one of these days they come out with a rocket hack where they give you the choice to start out with one!
