I have raged at a game a few times before, these include: Crash Bandicoot: When I was a small kid, me and my brother would often play this game. Because he was older than me, he would normally play on the game himself and had completed the game. When we played together, we took it in turns to complete levels, and every time one of us died, the other one got the turn. We completed loads of levels together, but when we got to Road to Nowhere, we just skipped it. I asked him why and he simply said, "I didn't skip anything. What are you talking about?" We carried on through the Wumpa Islands, overcoming Koala Kong, Pinstripe Potoroo and Cortex's factories. We came to another area-The High Road-which my brother skipped again, with the same excuse. We also skipped Slippery Climb, and after that, we finished the game easily. He told me never to go on those levels(as it was his game, he wanted nothing to go wrong) and so I listened to him. One Summer day, I gave in to temptation, and while he was out, I sneaked onto his Play Station, eager to try these levels out. I started up Road to Nowhere, and upon seeing the setting of the level, I immediately felt the feeling that it wasn't going to be a easy level. I tried to progress through the level time after time, falling down loads of times and even got a game over a few times. I started getting frustrated with the extreme difficulty on it. But I tried one more time, and mustering all of my skill, I finally made it across a few bridges, and thinking that the end was in sight, I ran straight into the mist, and I was killed by a boar. I was pretty annoyed with this, shouting out a few times and almost shutting down the system when I remembered-there were more levels to do. I advanced towards the High Road on Cortex Island, and when I started up the game, I saw the same setting. I was just shocked with this-how could they make a level so tediously hard in a video game, and then decide to put it in twice? I didn't even attempt that one, surprisingly. I just quit straight away and moved to Slippery Climb. Little did I know what horror awaited me. I started it up, and saw that it was raining in game. I hated the sound of thunder at that age, and it unnerved me a little. But nonetheless, I started making my way up the perilous castle walls, and because dodging was a particular skill of mine, I seemed to manage pretty well. Until I got higher up. The thunder was scaring me, and I fell off a few times. I tried loads of times, and when I did do it, I was killed by a bird. I took a deep breath and decided to attempt for the last time. I made my way up to the top, dodging birds, spikes and lab assistants, when I could finally see the portal at the end. I felt happy, one more tiny jump to the end! And I was preparing for it, getting ready to put an end to this nightmare, when the thunder clapped, and during my recklessness, I fell down the hole, and fell down the side of the screen. This is pretty much when I lost it, kicking the Play Station and punching it with my fist. When I stopped raging, I noticed that the screen was off, and feeling a sense of dread, I attempted to turn it back on. It didn't work, and when my brother got back he was ballistic. That was the story of Crash Bandicoot. Banjo Kazooie: This was my very own N64 which I got from my cousin, and it looked good, and with this console came Banjo Tooie, Banjo Kazooie, Super Mario 64 and Diddy Kong Racing. I liked Banjo Kazooie more than all of them; even Super Mario 64 and Banjo Tooie. I think it was Tooie's darkness that put me off. And Super Mario 64 was bugged, so...yeah. Anyway, the game was pretty easy, just collect everything you could see, and back then, I was a more serious kind of player, so I collected everything before leaving the world. Mumbo's Mountain? Half an hour. Treasure Trove Cove? 1 hour. Clanker's Cavern? 1 hour 10 mins. Bubblegloop Swamp took an hour, Freezeezy Peak was about 2 hours and Gobi's Valley was about 1 hour 30 mins. Mad Monster Mansion took me an hour. Those were pretty bad times, but trust me. Rusty. Bucket. Bay. This took me...6 hours to do! I am pretty sure that everyone who has played it know what I mean. When I spawned in front of the ship, I thought this would be a sailor level, setting off to the high seas. I was very, VERY wrong. Firstly, the water. I heard a jinjo below the metal grating near the spawn, so I decided to jump in. After observing the water's colour and texture, I knew that something wasn't right. That is why I jumped in, and I saw nothing wrong, so I dived to the Jinjo and I noticed my air was decreasing rapidly! I panicked, and I was trapped in there to drown. I was stunned: I am terrible at swimming in this game, and to put this in the level doesn't help. I started surveying the area, investigating the houses and collecting notes and jiggies. The jinjos took a few attempts, but I carried on nonetheless. I eventually explored the entire bay, after having collected everything. I decided to move on to the ship, and I smashed the windows to collect all the notes/jiggies I could. After doing all of this, I saved the dolphin, and although I got the jiggy...I drowned...slightly annoying me. I almost lost hope right there, but I thought of the 100% completion to brag about to my elder brother. I collected everything again which took about 2 hours' I moved onto the ship again, scouring it top to bottom. I collected every single jiggy that was visible, and then realised...some jiggies are missing, as well as some notes. I searched again, and I found a wooden door at the bottom of the funnel. I busted it open, and was excited to explore this new area. I climbed down the long ladder, dodging the monsters in the walls, until I reached the bottom. I looked forward to see a lot of machinery. I decided to check it out when I saw the jiggy, and loads of notes! So I chose to observe it in close detail, and seeing that the turbines moved too fast, I thought that the only solution was to jump through it. I took a breath and just went for it when it hit me, and my mouth dropped as Banjo plummeted to the ground. I just sat in silence for a couple of minutes, when my brother came in and said, "You're on Rusty Bucket Bay? Pretty far, I guess. Have you been in the engine room yet?" I stared at him and then said yes, and I told him that I tried to jump through the turbines. He started laughing hard, and I asked him what was up. He then explained that there was a switch to slow down the turbines, which would make them possible to jump through. I just turned the system off straight away. I had enough, and I was tired of that level. I was really mad but calm at the same time, thinking about my mistakes. So they are two instances when I raged at a game. Hope you enjoyed .
