Hello ladies and gentlemen of Vizzed, let's get right into it.
Now I have never been a morning person ever in my life, but in the last 4-5 years it has gotten worse, I tell my job I can't work before 10 am, when I have days off It takes me from 7 to about 11 to even get the motivation to start my day. Now, I am not a lazy guy I work pretty hard and work out very frequently as I am aspiring to be an MMA fighter. Over the last 2 months I have gotten my diet to a really healthy point and I try to get to bed earlier on days I don't get out of work at 2 or 3 am and if I sleep till 11 or 12 I am usually all ready to start my day. Now my main problem is those 3-5 hours a day that I am missing out on that could be spent training/ working/ not sitting around like a blob every morning, I need some of the best tips and tricks from some of you peppy morning guys/gals or any of you know any neat tricks that crazy early morning people do, also let's try to limit the coffee/energy drink usage, it's fake energy and causes me to crash. I want to get to the point to where I can get up at 5 am and get in an hour or two of training in before 8 am, but I know what it will take to get there and I am willing to give it my all and take it practically one step at a time. So fire away and help a brother out.

You might want to get more sleep, if possible. Sleep is the most important part of training. Also, on sunny days, I run outside and soak in some sunlight, wakes me right up.
Lastly, this is kind of trivial, but it might be good to take the time to organize your paragraph a bit. Right now it gives off a "wall-o-text" vibe that might scare people off.

A night owl will always be a night owl and sadly, there's nothing we can do about it.
I'm a night owl as well who was forced to wake up and be productive in the mornings and sleep early at night when I was in high school, so I know how tiring it is to keep up with the normal productive hours. (mornings)

Well, you can force yourself to wake up and sleep early, but I'm willing to bet that you won't be very comfortable with it but instead you'll just become irritated and tired throughout the days. It's like you've never had enough sleep. It also makes your immune system weaker since you're depriving your body its well-needed rest.

There are times when you'd feel that you've already managed to change your internal clock and become a morning person, but try not using the alarm clock for a few days and you'll quickly revert back to being a night owl.

The best thing to do is to schedule your activities according to what suits you. If you're active during the night and you want to exercise, then you may move your exercise schedule at night, or if you have a morning job, have you considered applying for an evening ones instead? I chose afternoon schedules for my classes so I could sleep until late morning or noon and stay up late until around 4am, and I feel very satisfied and happy with it. But if you still want to turn yourself into a morning person, an alarm clock and the will power to get up and move will do the trick. Unfortunately, I don't have that will, lol.

Thank you for all the input, I was wondering if the paragraph spacing mattered all that much or not actually. Also today I took some of Juliet's advice and worked out at 8:00 p.m., feeling tired right now hopefully I can wake up with energy. I guess it's all about shifting everything (eating, working out and alarms) around and seeing what fits best.
Also any other suggestions to sleep longer? I usually can only sleep for 6 hours than I have too get up and pee, after I get back into bed it's just almost like my body refuses to get comfortable and than I am a groggy mess for a couple of hours.

Kevyn13 :

I am not a morning person naturally. But over the past year, I've adapted my life that by 7:30 I need to be up.

Here is the trick:

1. Sleep 8-9 hours. Sleep is not only going to help you get you, but it helps you be smarter, healthier, and actually improves fat burning. If possible, it would be great to have a schedule that doesn't require you work until 2 AM, because then you NEED to sleep in.

Here is what I did to get used to going to bed early and sleeping: Melatonin. It is not a drug or medication, or anything "bad". You naturally produce melatonin when you have been up for a long time and when it's dark. You can get it in pill form, where you just stick it under your tongue, and let it dissolve. It is NOT a tranquilizer, or a sleeping pill, it is used by people on shift work or people who get jet lagged a lot to "reset you clock", so to speak. So don't use it every night, but to get you used to sleeping early, try it.

2. Force yourself to wake up early for a few weeks. Eventually, your body will start feeling more energetic in the morning. Especially if you do aerobics or endurance work outs after you wake up, before you eat breakfast; your body will start expecting it.

3. Get lot's of vitamin B during the day. If you take a vitamin and mineral supplement in the morning, maybe change the timing of it to 3 PM. If you don't already take anything, go to the drug store, and look in the organic/natural section for a good source of Vit B complex. Now the timing of taking it is tricky. If you take it in the morning, by the next morning you have no more of it in your system, meaning you'll feel tired and won't want to get out of bed. If you take it before bed, you may have a lot of it in your system in the morning (thus making it easy to wake up), but it may keep you up at night. So you'll have to play with the timing of it, and find what works best for you.

You could try to simply eat a lot of it in your diet, but I find it works better getting more than just 100% of your daily requirement (you body is fine with LOTS more than that), so the pill works best, for me.

4. Omega oils. Eat a lot of them. They give you energy and make you feel good in the morning. You can also get this in pill form if you have a hard time eating enough of it.

Just stay with it, you'll eventually train your body to get up by itself.

Thanks a ton man that is some real great advice I will definitely be grabbing some melatonin than. I figured out that things will never change if I don't get a new job, so I have been looking for  one with more reasonable hours. I think I still have a little trouble with the timing still when I get my vitamins in, but that's all trial and error.
What are some good omega oil foods/recipes?
and also any tips on how to get back to sleep after only sleeping for 5 or 6 hours? Because that's a problem I have as well in terms of getting enough sleep.
And again thank you because this seems like some really helpful advice, I really do appreciate it.

Kevyn13 :

For omega oils: Fish and nuts. If you have a can of tuna a day, it can really boost you omega 3. Also hemp, walnuts, pumpkin and sunflower seeds, wholemeal bread... anything nutty. But especially fish, eat a lot of it.

About getting back to sleep... I'm not sure, I usually sleep all night, melatonin is supposed to help you sleep all night, but I can't notice it. Now this next bit of advice I warn you is not as "healthy", but I find it works. Either warm milk, or a little scotch usually knocks me back out if I woke up and can't sleep. They say alcohol doesn't make you sleep the "right" way, and that it's easy to get start depending on it to sleep, so be careful. But on the occasional sleepless night, it really does the trick. Hot milk works well too... but that may be more psychological.

Chamomile tea is also very sedative, so is lavender essential oil (you don't ingest it, just drop it on your pillow). They help you calm down, so it may or may not help with going back too sleep. But somehow I feel it's more than being wound up that keeps you from sleeping.

Also, make sure your room is very dark.

After only reading the first post?

This sounds like a "Time Management" around the adjusted "Sleep Cycle".
Translation? Go to sleep at different times to wake up at different times.

There are a ton of books on the subject.
I am not going to bore you to death with any of that stuff.
It is all about managing stimuli. The right times to have it and not.
If you live with a bunch of people? Managing anything is not going to be easy.

If you live alone? Not an issue.
You just find yourself wondering what day it is instead of knowing it's Monday or Thursday.

If your computer starts talking to you? Calling you "Dave" and insists on being called "Hall"?
Get out of the house and seek help.
Good Luck.
Peace.

Try going to bed a little early. I work as a CNA at Penney Farms Retirement Community and at the two ALF's (assisted living facility) that I work at there is a resident that goes to bed about 8 or 9 pm and gets up usually at 4 AM. Maybe you don't to go to bed that early but may about 10 pm. Gradually your body should start to adjust to the different time and start your day early like you want to do.

get yourself a schedule going and a good sleep pattern and stay off the internet at late hours of the night and exercise once a day for thirty minutes or so, that way you'll be tired at the end of the night

Wake up at the same time every day and take a shower. Then get dressed and go outside. Walk around maybe three or four blocks and go back home. You should feel awake by the time you get back home and should not take more than an hour.

The main thing I would focus on if you want to become a more morning time oriented person, is to get better sleep the night before so you are well rested and waking up early isn't duch a hassle.

So go to bed at like 9-10 every night and you can wake up about 8 with about 11 hours of sleep! Or however early you plan on getting up, plan accordingly when to fall asleep the night before.

I am not a morning person, but by going to bed earlier ( not the case this month with TDV going on) I can get good sleep and wake up with at least 8 hours of rest. So that is the main thing I would focus on for being a morning type person. Go to bed early, and make a schedule/ habit of doing so and you'll see a difference.

I'm curious.  After all this time, did you ever become a morning person?
How's it working?

Well there isn't really a set way to do it other than to just get in the habit of doing it. Set an alarm and wake up early. Do it for about a month because that is about how long it takes for something to become routine. I just thought I should say this. Go to bed early as well though. There isn't really much else I can say on this topic other than just get in routine and it will seem normal.

That's all I wanted to say, I apologize for the sandwich post, I will royally shut up now XD

If you're a night owl, like Juliet said, it's a biological cycle that's REALLY hard to overcome. Though I've had to learn to adapt to a morning person for my job(this doesn't mean I'm a HAPPY morning person though... but I'm up.)

The first thing would be to make sure you are well rested, and that doesn't just mean getting enough sleep, but to have the right sleeping cycles while you sleep(REM-non-REM sleep) so you can be fully rested. One way to really screw up your sleeping cycles is to stay up online before you go to sleep, it's good to give yourself a break from online or TV activity at least an hour before sleep, meditate, read a book or something like that.

If you can, do a little exercise in the morning to get the blood flowing, you have to FORCE yourself out of bed and that's the hardest part.

Eating a good breakfast is necessary as well, oatmeal is good(doesn't necessarily tastes good though), something with protein, and like Light Knight said, Omega oils and B complex vitamins that promote metabolism. I usually take a multi-vitamin that has b vitamins in it in the morning.

Hope that helped, wish you luck.

You go to bed feeling tired and drink a glass of water before bed cause that helps me.make sure YOUR BED IS COMFORTABLE cause this is crucial. In the morning you have to FORCE yourself out of bed and first of all after brushing your teeth DRINK WATER and eat something easy to digest and healthy. You must also do exercise in the morning.

most reply are just awful especially ones with supplements sorry
as someone said part of it is  right

1.eating right optional
2. time management
3. your just lazy

your probably saying  i worked 8-10 hours how can you call me lazy?
if your really tired you would pass out easily, if your tired but can't sleep mean your lazy  and your not tired enough.
i've work 10 hours before but mostly all i did was sit for 10 hour typing/etc no physical labor sure i was tired, tired of work
but just because you sat down on your butt you still have to move those legs and arms if you dont you'll develop something even worst.

so the best way to sleep is to have a good day. wore yourself out by playing sport or going to tthe gym make sure your physically tired
not mentally, don't be tired of work, don't be tire in your mind because of work, be tired because you can hardly lift your arms and leg.

so their are a few definition of tired mentally and physically mentally stand out for being lazy and, the idea of not doing it.

work hard play hard all day until 10 you will fall asleep

play physical sport 1 hour football etc you will wants to turn in early to set you up for the next day
when you worn out  sleep as long as you like early as you can  and boom easy morning person now go catch your worm
