No, just because you think the review title of this thread means the review or the game I am going to review is bad, doesn't always mean that. If you are wondering what I mean by that, just read on.
A little fact about this game you didn't know: This was the hardest game until hard relay mario came out (2007 or something like that) and Hard Relay Mario is still one of the hardest hacks because of the fact YOU must use save states and glitches to win the ever increasing difficulty of the levels, glitches and all that you had to perform.
Graphics: 8/10
This game has the same graphics as Super Mario Bros except the guy who made this has made the graphics slightly better. I mean, the dude who came up with this game is like some sort of genius or something. He has removed most of the annoying blocks in the game. The only annoying one he has left in the game is that very long fire bar block which is very hard to dodge in this game. I believe it does appear in Super Mario Bros 2 the lost levels (or one of the games in the series) but that isn't as hard as the one in this game to dodge. And mind you in this game, there is more than 1 in some levels.
Gameplay 8/10
The controls for this game is basically like any NES Mario game we have on here. To go faster you press z and to jump you press x. I am telling you the controls for this game because of the fact that some people on the game comments didn't know how to jump. The rest of the controls are the same.
Sounds 10/10
This game contains the normal NES sounds, which all NES hacks should have due to how good the music the music by NES is to listen to. (I hope that made sense to you guys, if you reply to this thread and you find that it didn't make sense for the sound. I would like you to tell me how to fix that.)
Addictiveness: 10/10
If you are not a Mario expert I really wouldn't rate this a 10. Since the frustration of the game will mount on you. If you are very good at Mario (like I am, I mean I have beat a so called impossible level, that has to make me like an expert or something) you will keep going until you have beat the game. The ending screen is like the usual how princess thanks Mario for rescuing her and you know the rest. I only say if you are a Mario expert to complete the game because it gets much harder, and you will be much better for many situations if you can complete this game.
Story 5/10
The story to this game is the same old same old. How Bowser has trapped Princess Peach and you need to save her. But mind you, Bowser has sent you to like a hell place. I mean you need to glitch, wall jump and long jump just to complete the first level in this game. But you don't have to glitch. Glitching just saves you a small amount of time.
Depth 10/10
You will need a few hours to beat this game, I have beaten this game at least 5 times now and it still takes me a few hours to beat the game. It is no different any time you play it. Its just the time you take to get to one position is what kills me a lot of the times. Also the fact once I was at the last part of the game with one life left and I used a a save state when I died
Difficulty 10/10
You must be crazy to rate this anything lower then a 10. As I stated above it does not get much easier as you play the game more often. It gets easier when you get better at choosing the right times to use save states, wall jumping as well as long jumping. I know you don't have to wall jump but it does make it easier if you know how to wall jump. I could tell you how, if I knew how to explain it to you.
Overall 8.8/10
You will enjoy this game even if you play it for 5 minutes or so if you can manage to get past the spawn death of the first level. I do believe at that time it was allowed but now a days spawn killing in ROM hacks is not allowed unless it is a Kaizo Hack.
