Well, hello everyone once again! I have been encouraged by some of my friends to keep doing these reviews so I wouldn't ever want to disappoint them.
So I was once again searching on vizzed for another good sonic hack to play, or at least an interesting one. Then I have found this hack. It's not really the best game to play but it is really interesting. So now, let us get started with this review!

Whats so special or interesting about this hack of Sonic the hedgehog?

So basically in this hack, you play as Sonic with all of the original levels of Sonic the hedgehog. But Sonic is not alone. He has his little pal, OmoChao with him. OmoChao is usually that little blue guy who is here to help you out and tell you how to play the game right. You guys who have played several Sonic games before would definitely know who I'm talking about. He is the one who has told you how to play Sonic games, but in this hack, he is more of an annoyance. One heck of an annoyance alright, which I will talk about in the gameplay section of my review. Also another thing is that when you start the game, you actually go to a menu of all of the levels so you no longer have to use the level selection cheat, but it's one of those cool type of menus where you are sonic and you run and jump on the button of your choice and jump right in to the ring to start the zone and act you selected. Plus it looks really similar or in fact the same exact thing like another hack of Sonic the hedgehog. That hack was called "Sonic the hedgehog at Sage 2010" I believe. Also it's really cool how the zone is shown by the ground of the area you stand on in the level selection menu. Like green hill zone has it's style of it's ground with the 3 buttons on it to select the act you want to play. The same thing will all other zones in the level selection screen menu. Also in the intro when you start the game, it says "retro channel coming soon". Well, something like that. And actually it had already been completed and implemented in the hack "Sonic the hedgehog at Sage 2010". So I'm guessing this hack was made right before Sonic the hedgehog at sage 2010 from the way this hack looks like compared to it.

What's the retro channel?

The retro channel is basically this thing that lets you connect the game to an online database of scores so you can compare with others and compete. It's a pretty cool feature alright. Especially since it's for some thing so old which is the sega genesis, but too bad it's not compatible with vizzed. It requires a special emulator and I think it is only compatible with the gems emulator and it requires a certain plugin. Now lets go ahead and start talking more about the game it self!

Gameplay: 6

Ehh... Not really the best. Not so good. So now, it is time to explain the main point of this hack. And the main point of this hack is OmoChao and how he annoys Sonic. Typically almost anything or everything that happens would make OmoChao really just want to say something about it. We don't mind if he goes and starts blabbering things that we already know, but he just over does it. What I mean is that if you were to get a ring, he says "You got a ring!" and if you get another ring, he also says, "You got another ring". and then he just keeps going off saying the same thing. He would also blabber something out if you were to break a monitor, get a shield, jump on a spring, get yourself hit, lose your rings, lose a life, get a game over, and a lot more actions. But the main problem here is the way the whole game would pause just for him to say whats obvious. And the worst part is the fact that every time he keeps on doing this, the game would pause even longer and longer. It infinitely keeps getting longer alright. And while the game is paused, you know that sound the plays when ever you get an extra life? That sound just keeps replaying while the game is paused for OmoChao's state the obvious moment. And while that same sound is repeating, that sound get higher pitched and it keeps getting higher to the point that this sound is almost out of sync. Plus it is one heck of a pain for your ears. In fact I don't think it is healthy to hear that sound, it could seriously hurt your ears and give you one heck of a headache from it. And you want to know something? I remember that I once made a game review a few months ago about this other Sonic hack called "OMG the red rings". (from what I remember. hope I'm not mistaken). Anyways in that hack, there is no normal rings and there is only just red rings of death! Once you touch one, you lose a life. And those red rings of death are everywhere. I once declared and thought that this was the hardest Sonic the hedgehog hack ever created in life. Nope, I was definitely wrong there. Actually for now, I got to say that this hack of Sonic the hedgehog is one of the hardest Sonic hacks ever created in life. Well, just for now, who knows what other Sonic hacker would come and create another hack of Sonic the hedgehog that might even be harder than this one. Even though I mentioned that this is a very hard Sonic hack. Still, I can't give it an extremely low rating. You guys might think this, "Hey whats the point of playing a Sonic hack that is so hard if your not going to enjoy it?". Well, an answer to that question is that their are certainly lots of these type of gamers who may seem crazy but they might be considered TRUE retro gamers out there who would play and knock them selves out in the hardest retro games in the world. And they might even manage to master a hard game like this. Yup, and it looks like I made another overkill in typing at the game play section of my review once again. Well, thats all for me to say in this portion of my review, hopefully I manage to go in detail at the rest of my review.

Graphics: 9

Well, I got say, even though you expect me to say that it is the same exact thing like the original Sonic the hedgehog, that is mostly true but there are a few things that are pretty remarkable and amazing for the sega genesis graphics for a hack like this.

How about I make this in to a list:
1. The title screen. One thing about the title screen is the appearance of OmoChao and how it says right on top of Sonic, "It is a game you can pu-ray!" Indeed they are clever and humorous words. And OmoChao doesn't look so bad there. OmoChao's appearance over there sort of show some good graphics and lots of potential for great graphics from the Sega genesis.

2. The level selection screen menu. If you guys have seen my previous review of another Sonic the hedgehog hack called, "Sonic the hedgehog at sage 2010". As I mentioned earlier, this hack has the same menu style just like the hack I previously reviewed. Anyways, whats remarkable about this is that the background and the ground is dark while having some grayish whitish lines on it like dark graph paper. I'm not sure how to describe it but it does show that the sega genesis has a little bit of potential for better graphics in other games.

3. OmoChao's appearance with Sonic while playing in a zone. I expected OmoChao to just look like some little blue dot floating around Sonic. Well, I was sort of wrong there. He does look like a real OmoChao with Sonic. His appearance looks a little vivid. If something small can look vivid like that while it's a game for sega genesis then it also does show a little potential for the sega genesis' graphics.

Well, thats all for the graphics I guess.

Sound: 8

Pretty much, everything is the same here. Nothing changed here. Same sound effects and the same background music. The only thing is that when OmoChao says something, that "getting an extra life" sound plays but as he keeps going, it will get higher pitched. And ouch that is a pain in the ear, also if you actually last long enough, it might start getting out of sync. lol. Thats all for the sound here.

Addictiveness: 6

Ehh... The game is sort of addicting I guess. Even though it is one heck of an annoying game, there are still some types of players who would like games like this and would continue to keep playing it and would want to try to beat his own best time at a certain zone. I know it may sound weird but it is true even though I'm not that type of gamer. Thats all for the addictiveness.

Story: Um... not sure, probably none?

Well, I'm not sure if it would be no story since all you do in this game is to just try to beat your best time with OmoChao's annoyance. But it can also be that Sonic and OmoChao has to destroy Dr. Eggman and free the innocent animals. But I'm honestly not sure and there isn't much to say here either.

Depth: 8

I'll have to say that this game offers lots of depth. The way it has it's level selection screen and the way OmoChao annoys you. Darn, but I made a little overkill for the gameplay section so it may be difficult for me to go more in depth in the other section without me repeating the same thing over and over again. I should remind myself not to do that mistake again.

Difficulty: 10

And of course, you would already know what the rating of the difficulty of this Sonic hack would deserve. If typically anything you do would get OmoChao to pause the game and if he keeps pausing it longer everytime you do something like getting a ring, then I'm sure the difficulty would deserve a 10. I can't even get passed green hill zone with me losing my patience and I wonder how labyrinth zone would be like them, lol.

Overall: 6.5

Yup, thats pretty much it for the game. Very difficult and hard that it may not be too enjoyable. Thanks for reading this and I hope to make more review often in the future! I wish you all an awesome day at vizzed!
