In 1992, Nintendo brought to us one of the greatest racing games of all time, Super Mario kart, This game literately set the bar for racing games! Today alot of other people still try to copy from the plumber's success, Failing miserably. We got 1 game on the SNES, then on the N64. And finally we got a Mario kart on the Game boy advance! This game is Mario kart super circuit. Will this be a good racer? Or a flat tire? Let's go ahead and see!
Story-N/A I do not think there is an actual story behind this game! So let's proceed to the actual game itself.....
Gameplay-8/10 This game plays like previous Mario kart installments, You play as One of Mario and his friends, And you race 7 other racers to the finish! In this game there are 3 modes, Mario GP, where you race against 7 other racers in 4 different races, points will be given out depending on where you finish, Whoever has the most points at the end is the winner. In time trial, You race on a track by yourself trying to finish in the fastest time possible. And last but not least, There is quick race, where you race on any track of your choice for kicks and giggles. You will be using a big amount of weapons, such as koopa shells, bombs, etc. The controls are pretty simple, A is accelerate, B is brake, L is item, and R is drift.
Graphics-9/10 This was a REALLY early Game boy advance title, And I will say, It looks amazing! All the locales and tracks you'll be exploring are big, colorful, and bursting with atmosphere. The menus are nicely organized as well. Now one this game has That I have been wanting to see in a long time, Moving backgrounds! In almost all of the levels, There is always something going on in the background, Such as a pirate ship in the sea, or a big haunted house infested with ghosts. For a early Game boy advance title (2001 to be exact,) This is just amazing.
Sound-8/10 I am going to be honest here, This is probably the best Mario kart soundtrack I have heard in a while! All the songs you'll be hearing seem to fit the levels very nicely, Some prime examples are these 2 levels, The Ghost valley and the Ribbon road, Ghost valley has really really spooky music to it, And the ribbon road has really nice cheery music to it. As for the sound effects, They are pretty average as well, You have your little twirl when the car flips out, The siren whenever A blue shell is coming your way, And alot of more. This game even uses voice clips from the actual characters!
Addictiveness-8/10 Oh how much fun I had with this game! The day I got it, I couldn't put it down. This game just that charm that Other Mario kart clones don't have...I've had alot of fun playing with my friends Via link cable, Probably the best feature of the game...
Depth-8/10 This game has alot of stuff for you to unlock and do! For one, There is the multiplayer mode which can be done by Via link cable, Where you can do everything you do by yourself with a friend! Like Race with a friend, Battle with a friend, etc. And there are also a bunch of difficulty levels to play in as well.
Difficulty-5/10 I'll admit, The game isn't really that hard, Unless you're playing in other difficulty levels that is! But otherwise, The game is practically a cakewalk to play. Except for...RAINBOW ROAD! THE TERROR! THE HORROR! THE SUSPENSE! God I hated that place with a passion so much!
Overall-8.3/10 So If you need a good Kart racer to play on the Game boy advance, I highly suggest you buy Mario kart super circuit! It has alot of to unlock and do to keep you busy for hours and hours to come! So I gave this game an 8.3 because that reason. So what are you waiting for? Go ahead and buy this amazing game!
