Hello there, I know many of you may become extremely "uneasy" and rather "offended" reading this review; but the fact of the matter is, these things do happen... and this is a game depicts what happens in the real world. Although this takes place in the abandoned city of Tokyo, Japan... it does prove a point; survival does mean everything, even if it means taking the lives of others.

Now, I know a game such as this will obviously be continuously hated on by PETA and other organizations that seem to become upset with pretty much every single thing out there... but the fact of the matter is, this is a game based on reality and getting extremely close to the fine line of it. Games like this one, as well as "Heavy Rain" have become so controversial in todays society that many people find these games to be "repulsive" and "offensive" for both them and their children.

Well parents, and even people who aren't parents... if you aren't willing to teach your child, then obviously you're going to have to rely on video games. Now, I understand video games don't make excellent teachers... seeing as how they're used for entertainment purposes (most, if not all the time), but when you are not informing your child about the ways of the world... things like this are bound to happen.
This game is controversial to the point that people want to actually have it REMOVED from the PS3 and do not want it in the United States... why you may ask, well... it's very simple.

People do not want to know the truth, and they do not want their child to be exposed to the truth; most parents tend to protect their children with such a scrutiny that their child realizes that they do not want their parent(s) breathing down their neck. This is one of the reasons why many children choose to disobey their parents, the parent is being too careful... too demanding, and too forceful with their child. They want what is best for their child and they want their child to succeed, even the common phrase "Learn from your mistakes" is being forced to be forgotten, parents are becoming far too protective of their child... or not even protective enough, these are common reasons why our children... and why any child chooses to disobey and chooses to fall away from the basic level of "normality".

Now, I shall get on with what I was discussing... this game. I have had the honor to preview this game for a little while, being in contact with a few people whom work on Twitch.TV gives me a little more "options" when it comes to gaming. Well anyways, let us get on with the subject at hand... whether or whether not you should play this game.

****WARNING! THIS GAME IS NOT MEANT FOR CHILDREN OR ANYONE BELOW A MATURE ATTITUDE!****

Graphics- 9/10
With almost 100% realistic graphics to represent the world you are in, you can encounter all sorts of animals throughout the land of Tokyo, Japan. Anything ranging from your standard house cat and puppy dog, to even wild animals such as tigers and monkeys. Throughout this game, the graphics are enhanced above and beyond regular standards and will often show high levels of "mature" content... such as blood splattering effect, bodies breaking down into bones, and even the sound of an animal yelping as it breathes its last dying breath. With "animal-like" reflexes based off of real life animals and real life actions that animals would do in the wild as well as in public areas, you will see how animals may treat each other under the circumstances of becoming EXTINCT.

Sound- 9/10
The game also brings out a whole new level to "soundtrack", with realistic sounds of the world around them as well as the animals themselves... you will feel as if you really are in an abandoned city, over run by a numerous population of animals. With life-like soundtracks and recordings of animals, you will experience the full potential of what it means to "live in the wild" without ever leaving the comfort of your home... let a lone leaving a city for that matter, bringing the wildlife to your city. With real-time responses from the AI in the game, you will see animals struggle to survive... some will even just lounge around and relax, its a whole new level of reality... brought exclusively to PLAYSTATION 3 for the many Playstation fans.

Addictiveness- 9/10
Because this game gives a solid performance to the realism effect that it has on people as well as throughout the game, you will become addicted to seeing what animals you can be... different ways you can survive, how long you can survive and much more. You will spend hours upon hours exploring the terrain and greeting animals of all types, some may attack you and others may calmly ignore you. In a "dog eat dog" world (literally), there is no telling what might happen... but one thing is certain, this game will keep you playing for more (and if they ever add a MULTIPLAYER option, then all hell will break loose until all life has gone extinct). Throughout this game you will realize what animals are willing to do in order to survive, in order to stay populated, in order to just be the animals that they are... you will see the true "circle of life", without any warnings and parental controls attached.

Story- 9/10
The story of this game is both simple, but also very intriguing to the common human. The concept of "what would it be like if the human race was gone, and animals ruled the world?" In a post-apocalyptic era in the future, you will see how animals behave amongst their own kind... amongst other kinds of animals and amongst the city of Tokyo, Japan. This game will be sure to astound you, as you learn the TRUTH and HARSHNESS of our planet... even though us humans have ruined this earth, it honestly would be better if all of us were extinct. This game proves that animals were way better of living in the wild, learning to use their instincts and learning to adapt.

Depth- 9/10
With a decent selection of animals to play as (once you start unlocking them by completing "tasks" or "requirements"), you can have up to a choice of 30+ different types of animals. Anything ranging from your standard house pet to even animals from deep in the wild, and much much more. A world where the options are boundless, where the risks are deadly and where survival truly matters... Tokyo Jungle is for those who aren't "feint at heart" and those who know the differences between real life and game life. In this game, it is only to represent how animals react... we all know, even humans themselves will go any distance in order to survive... even if it means killing another human. Animals are willing to do the same, our survival instincts tell us to fight to the death... to protect what we love, and to live to see another day.

Difficulty- 5/10
This game is only as difficult as you make it out to be. With enough practice, you will understand how to hunt, love, protect, defend and much more... you will learn how to survive and how to kill, how to cooperate and how to stand alone. You will learn what it means to be in a pack and what it means to be a lone wolf... there choice is yours, each choice you make will determine if you live or die... and this game brings out the horrifying truth about the real world, the truth that parents, teachers, and adults just don't want us to know... a game that hunters will love, that animal lovers will hate... and a game that everyone will be absurd about.

It is your choice whether to accept this game or not, its my choice to tell you... this game speaks more than just entertainment, it speaks the truth about life... we will do whatever we can to survive, even if it means taking the lives of others.

To know more, simply just read the wikipedia or view some other website... but fair warning, this game isn't for those with weak-hearts and those who aren't willing to accept the truth.

-This game is NOT listed in the game list at all on here, so I figured I'd do a review on a game that isn't listed yet.

It is a great thing you brought this game up, the game does look very interesting to play on, and with it's controversial level like doubled or even tripled than the GTA series or any other controversial games, I have to say that this game is very well interesting.

i can say, if they allow "Adults Only" rated games for the PS3, they should have this game under the "AO" rating if they release it in the U.S.

IgorBird122 : Well, because the game isn't exactly as violent as things like "Gears of War" but it does show animals killing each other (even dogs eating other dogs), it is extremely controversial amongst many people... so it's more like rated M for mature, but honestly... its more or less a game for anyone who's not going to get upset for some stupid game. (if you know what I mean)

Like for me personally, I found this game to be absolutely exciting to play... i truly felt like a cat living in the wild, but most people are like "why are you eating other cats?!?! that's disgusting!" and I'm like "survival of the fittest, deal with it."

Ya know, I've been considering getting this game. It's about a 15 dollar download last time I saw. I think I'll check it out when I have the money.

MinkNyu : Well for me, I played it on my neighbors PS3... it's a good game and all, but its based HIGHLY off of real life actions and outcomes. So if you're easily upset by the sight of an animated cat killing another animated cat... or something like that, then yeah... it's probably best that you don't.

Otherwise, go ahead and get it... I nearly spent 40 hours playing it before I finally had to go back to where I am living cause I was just playing non-stop.

Hahah, I don't I've ever been offended by a Video Game. I highly doubt It'd hurt me. In fact, I was playing Bioshock Today, and there was a dead cat. I started bashing it up randomly with my wrench. What can I say.... I was bored. Plus, it's a game. Emphasis on "game". Heheh.

MinkNyu : Well, then if you want to get as close as possible to living as an animal (in the beginning you'll start out as a Pomeranian (dog) or something... then this game is pretty much real life. You can do story mode (which teaches you how to play the game and helps you unlock basic things) and then there is survival mode (which is much like using "free play" where you just go around... do basic tasks (such as eating food, killing other animals, breeding, and so on).

To be honest, I did survival mode the most... simply because I don't really like doing campaign like work, I prefer to just free roam and explore.

You'll know what to do once you start playing and such...
