This is one of the more famous Rock man 2 ROM hacks, and the probably the most famous one done entirely in English. Let's see how it holds up!
The story..... well to be honest i haven't a clue what the story is about. The only thing that REALLY sets it apart from Mega Man 2 is at the end once you defeat the Alien, instead of Dr. Wily jumping out of the command booth and begging for mercy, MEGA MAN jumps out and.... just doesn't move....
Like all good Mega Man hacks, all of the music is changed. In this case, most of the music comes from other games in the Mega Man series, although sometimes the music sounds a little different.
It's not the best hack soundtrack, but it's still pretty good.
In comparison to other hacks, like Rock man no constancy and Minus Infinity, Mega Man Ultra is almost laughably easy. All of the bosses can be defeated pretty easily with the Mega Buster (excluding the Boo beam trap) an the stages aren't to difficult themselves.
The only graphical differences between this hack and Mega Man 2 are backgrounds and sprite swaps.
Sometimes the altered sprites come from other Mega Man games, especially number 4.
The weapons behave exactly the same as in the original game. The only difference is that they have different sprites and they are effective against different bosses.
In conclusion, Mega Man ultra is a good hack with a lot of things going for it. Defiantly could use a bit of polishing, but good nonetheless.
