The Games No One Knows About.

This Game has a counterpart on the Genisis That has better graphics but I stuck to this one.

Note: Go to Google and Print up a map of the Caribbean Islands In The Gulf of Mexico. Be ready to get a fun geography lesson. This game uses real locations. So, if you want to get around just type up the location on google maps. (I have mine memorized.)

I dig games like this that actually teach a bit of history.

Lets start with a Brief "How to survive the first five minutes" section.

Create your character at the start. And... "Fight."
The Fencing Sections have an Ego Gauge instead of a typical life bar.
The more hits you take the less confident you perform.
The Thing that stops most players is that you have to keep an eye on the crew numbers all the time.
If that drops?
So do your stats and ability to win.

If you have won you have a Boat.
Then you can begin.

This game constantly can drain a person due to the fact that you have to weigh and measure your stats and crew constantly.

You are forever hitting the "Select" button.
Is the Crew Fed.?
Is the Crew Paid.?
Does everyone have enough room? No.
Time to Hijack an Extra Boat. (Oh excuse me. "Borrow" another boat.)
Be Certain the flag is not friendly.

This game has so many options and leaves the story very mutable. (Like the Modern Sandbox games.) You can deviate from the main story to do what ever you want.

I love games that can give a person a sense of freedom.
If I wanted... I could talk all day about this game.

Graphics?
I give it a seven.
They are not the best graphics but they get the job done. This game was ment to be read like a book. The words are where a person is supposed to get lost in the details.

Sound?
I give it a seven.
It is not the best sound track. But it gets the job done.
The Sound Effects are very weak but not so annoying that you can not enjoy the game.

Addictiveness?
I give it a six.
It is not for people who do not enjoy a good read.
It is kind of like you have to search for the text and info.

Also a person has to take notes of the info on paper.
(Where certain Pirates or Hunters or Treasure is located. Even Relatives that you have to free.)
For the old school student it is a great game.
For the modern crowd?
??? I can not say. I am not young.

Story?
You are a young man trying to make a living.
Piracy seems to be the best route.
Unfortunately in this game???
A Responsable Pirate is a Good Pirate.
The more you lead by example and take charge?? The Higher the score.
You can end the game early at any time (Just Divide the Plunder and select retire.) or get forced to retire. (Your character does get old and you have to check your health constantly.)
I recommend Checking the retirement option after retrieving at least one lost relative.

Depth?
I Can give it a higher score than six.
But the fact that you have to organize the info yourself with notes is where many would get lost.
There are too few hints on what to do. And too much to memorize and keep track of.
I love it in the manner that this game could go on for months if you let it.
Lots of depth.
But the game itself expects the player to have a perfect memory. Or a brilliant note system in order to play.
I cant give it a higher score than Six.

Difficulty?
I give it a seven.
The thing is brutally hard on the first try.
After a few days of failing?
A person should be able to master this thing and Topple it.

Overall?
I give it a Nine.
A game that has real info you can use in a class for history is the main reason.
Allot of the standard throwaway info in a typical game is real info in this one.
The reversal of this Is a brilliant move.

I might do a guide on the thing but it would take forever.
(Maybe a solid month or two. There is just too much to cover.)

Good Luck To All.
I'm done. Stick a fork in me.
Peace.
