Ah good old Mario a jump man and a plumber. Mario has gone through numerous adventures involving smacking koopa's.squashing goomba's and defeating the all mighty bowser. So of course the well famous plumber would go through many other things some completely random . games educational which was a bad move.go through games like tennis golf and other random things. this 1 right here involves driving and smacking others off the road with various items.

Gameplay:the game mainly contains Mario. Luigi .Peach Bowser .Toad .Yoshi.The green koopa troopa( who later returns in Mario kart double dash and Mario kart wii).and Donkey Kong junior (either he grew up to be the standard donkey Kong of the game, or he just got removed from the franchise completely,Because this was the only Mario kart game I've seen him in). The gameplay is basically like any other driving game out there expect in Mario kart you have various items that help you out. 1 is the Mushroom which gives you a speed boost. 2 a ghost boo who makes you invisible and shields you from certain shells and what not.3 the Star item A protection item and a weapon in 1,It shields you away from shells and other things that can hit you and when you run into others you hit them while just driving. 4 and 5 koopa shells: ok 1 is a seeker which is the red the green shell is the defender. The red shell is a seeker because whoever is in front of you it locks him down until it hits his target. The green shell can basically defend you from the red shells, or can hit enemies by doing it manually. 6 the feather. The feather is basically a high jump item its really only useful when the time is right to use it.  The controlling may take some time for the player to get used to it because it feels pretty awkward or un sturdy feel to them. But once you comprise with the little tap jumps you can do which makes hard turns much easier to crossover. and the natural steering you may be able to get by this un sturdy or awkward feel. So the way the game plays is great 9.0 for my rating because of the awkward feel to the controls may take quite some time to get used to.

Graphics: looking at The original Mario kart the graphics look pretty good if you can think of the specs of the snes.Sprites: look pretty good although they are shown pretty pixelated. All Mario characters are well represented and detailed. The sprites themselves have their usual cartoonist style,along with some pretty normal coloring around them,they still look pretty good here.Animation the animation is basically Just you driving around with a basic Mario character. the animation it's self looks really good and complete,along with a nice bit of smoothness.Stages: I ill admit the stages are really nice here as how well they are detailed.the stages like donut plains have very nice finishes. the actual display of the stages however is similar to the later on Mario kart for the Nintendo ds,Because 1 map shows you driving and picking up items etc. The 2nd shows where you are at and what foes might be on your trail. Only thing I find weird is how hungry yoshi looks in this game. Anyways graphics rating 9 pretty decent graphics

Sound. The sound variety Is alright here as there's not a whole lot of sound effects. there's certain sounds that involves yoshi throwing eggs at you. Mario and Luigi constantly getting stars at random times. and the sound of you crashing the heck out of other players,But really that's about most of the sound you are gonna hear in this game. Soundtrack the soundtrack is pretty good here as Some themes have some quite neat tunes with great style and rhythm to it. As the donut plains theme sounds a bit sad at the beginning and gos back up to being nice with its rich tune. other tunes sound quite good as well .even the character select is quite catchy which is a good thing. I really enjoy some of the tunes that this game carries . Sound rating 7

Addictiveness. With a great driving style The fun of crashing your enemies every where. With many power ups. Tricky courses. great tunes. quite un sturdy feel to the controls. Super Mario kart is a well must play here or at least worth a shot. The series was most famous for most of the stuff said above. Addictiveness rating 8.

Story Na I don't believe racing games have a real storyline.including Mario kart. other besides racing to the finish line and getting all trophies. So I'm leaving storyline blank

Depth. The depth is decent here. Here's what the cc modes do and mean. The cc mode is how fast you want the cpu or tracks to be against you 50c is easy 100 is like the medium 150cc is like the hardest. Each of the modes is just a repeat of the same courses again and again expect more harder do to a speed change. I play it on 150cc because the challenge for me is needed. The game doesn't take that long to beat there is at least 4 cups if I can remember correctly that being. Mushroom cup ,Flower cup , Star cup and The special cup. Depth rating 7

Difficulty. The game at 150 is hard as its gonna get.really the fair well of the ai balance will be dependant on how skilled and well you are at driving in this game. also the well use of the power ups because they always come in an advantage for 1 another. But for me the driving is a bit hard to pull off that's mainly because I haven't mastered the little tap jump part. otherwise I would steer right all over the place. as for the ai its not that hard to pass through them. Difficulty rating 7.


Overall Super Mario kart is a fun game and a well good job done by Nintendo. Overall rating 8.9

Great review! I've always loved Mario Kart games. I like using smaller characters like Toad because they tend to be faster.

I assumed when you said that educational games were a bad idea you were talking about Mario's Time Machine and Mario is Missing, because Mario Teaches Typing is excellent!  LOL

Mario Kart is a classic, correct me if I'm wrong but it's another perfect example of a game where Nintendo did something that had never been done before, practically invented a genre and inspired an army of inferior copycats.  By now everyone has a kart racer like crash bandicoot, south park, wacky wheels the shareware game on the computer, even diddy kong racing from Rare on the n64.
