So for a while now, a lot of schools around the country have been considering changing things at school. Longer school days, year round school, etc. But there is one thing that I want to talk about specifically in this topic. Same Gender Schools. A lot of schools have considered using this, and some have started to use them. So I would like to hear your opinion on the topic.
For me, I disagree with them. They place stereotypes on people, that boys are always rowdy and crazy, and girls are always calm, cool, and collected. I have seen some pretty crazy girls at my school, and it doesn't help at all to teach kids against stereotypes that schools have tried to get rid of for years. On top of this, it doesn't let kids interact with the other gender. Imagine for pretty much your whole childhood, you never really were friends with, or talked to a girl/boy. Then you suddenly get thrust in to college, a place diverse with boys and girls. It would just make doing things around girls/boys harder.
That is all I really have to say on the subject. What do you think? Yes to them, or no?

I am not a fan. I got sick of 90% percent of the guys at school, at work, and everywhere within a few days of arriving. The people I found myself enjoying a conversation with were the smart girls.

I would hate this because one I couldn't cope with being around a bunch of men all day with no females in sight or around, and I don't enjoy talking to males at school because one they aren't the most attractive people and two they flat out bore me. I like schools the way they are with students of the opposite sex all attend the same school.

I think seperating girls from guys putting them in different schools is a bad idea because socializing is pretty much needed when you well grow up to talk to people and ask for directions or help if you are ever lost it may be a boy or girl then you feel a bit shy towards them.

I went to a co-ed school, but next to our school there was an all girls school. All the gurls there were socially retarded and some of them were really snobby. I think this has given me a bad impression of same gender schools.

I agree with your first post. Society is made up of men and women. If part of the purpose of school is to prepare us for our careers and the rest of our lives, why would we be isolated with our own gender? No other aspect of life is like that. And besides that... Personally I get along better with men and I think being in an all-girls school would drive me NUTS.

Yeah, I have to say I don't really like the idea of same gender schools, mainly because socializing in school is important to everybody, and I think having a same gender school and only being able to socialize with your same gender is not the same, and you need to be socially adept in life to succeed. As annoying as kids can be today , they practically run on each other, and I don't think I can imagine them being separated. And having no experience with the other gender for the majority of your life is definitely a huge con in this, I cannot imagine being in a school alone with the freaky, annoying, immature guys that already attend at my school, it would be a nightmare and I would probably only pull through because of my friends. So I would personally hate the idea of same gender schools, not a very good one.
