This game is one of the first Pokemon games, it is basically the same as red and blue, with the exception of pikachu. Nonetheless, it was the third pokemon to ever come out and I must say that I greatly enjoy playing this game each and every time. Now to the review!

Overall: 9.5

I give this game an overall of about 9.5, the game is really good being one of the first the game has a really good story and a decent amount of stuff you can do in the game.

Graphics: 8

Considering that this is one of the first Pokemon games and the graphics are just starting out, they are actually not bad. Sure Pokemon has improved and developed a lot since then, but the graphics are still very good considering it is an early pokemon game. I also like how there are at least some colors in each city your in, and the pokemon also have color. There are also some ocean waves and flowers as well that are really nice additions to the game. In battle, the graphics are fairly decent as well, even though the pokemon themselves (mainly your pokemon) aren't very detailed. Some of the move animations look really cool though and you can certainly tell that time and effort has been put into making them. Overall, I gave the graphics an 8 which is being generous, but I still feel like the graphics are fairly good once you take into consideration the time that this game was made and how much it has changed since then.

Sound: 8

As far as sound goes, it is pretty good in this game and it has some nice, yet unforgettable catchy tunes to enjoy. Like the graphics, the music changes with each city you enter. When you enter a battle the music shifts to a more epic and rapid pace that sets the stage for a battle. The pokemon also have their own move sounds and cries which can sound very similar for a lot of the pokemon, nonetheless, it is a nice bonus. Overall, the music is pretty catchy and the only gripe I have as far as sound and music go is that the music can be quite repetitive when you are in a city for quite a while and the sound can be a bit fuzzy at times, still not that big of a deal though which is why I scored the sound of this game an 8

Addictiveness: 8

Re-playability wise, this game is pretty fun and there is a decent amount of stuff to do to keep you busy and interested in playing it. You can catch all 150 pokemon without trading, and you can also spend your time leveling them up to 100. I certainly enjoyed this game, even though I have played it plenty of times, it is still fun and there is just something about it that keeps it exciting. I can certainly see myself playing this classic quite a few more times in the near future, thus I score the overall addictiveness of this game an 8.

Story: 9

The Pokemon story rarely ever changes and since this is one of the first pokemon games before the story started to get repetitive, it was relatively enjoyable in this game because if you have followed pokemon from the beginning and you played this game for the first time, it was pretty exciting. You start off as a young adventurous trainer fighting off tough enemies, and become the Pokemon champion. You face several trainers, and gym leaders and then take on the elite 4 and become a champion! And all the while, you're pokemon are getting stronger along the way! I gave the story a 9 because even though it is basically the same story, I never really grow weary of it while playing this game. Overall I scored the story of this game a 9 because it rather exhilarating to follow and play through for the first time.

Depth: 7

The game has a decent amount of stuff to do to keep you busy, as I said before, you can collect all of the 150 pokemon and you can also level them up and train them until they reach 100. Training your pokemon in this game is actually a lot more difficult in my opinion than it is in comparison to the newer pokemon games. Nonetheless, there is still a good amount of stuff to do throughout the game. This is a game that should take a good few days, to a week to actually beat, but the time in which you beat it varies with how experienced you are with pokemon and how well you train, even still, it shouldn't take an extremely long time to beat, but it also shouldn't be a game that you beat in 10 minutes and never play again. Overall I scored the depth a 7

Difficulty: 4

As far as difficulty goes, the game itself is very easy to enjoy and maneuver through and nothing is extremely complicated. It is also fairly easy to play and there aren't any difficult puzzles or patterns either. The only thing that could make it difficult is if you try to rush through it with under leveled pokemon because it will be harder to succeed. It is really worth your time to train your pokemon and also to create a well balanced team. To be on the safe side, you should try to keep your pokemon close together in levels and you should also try and teach them some good moves as well. type variation is helpful as well because you can't go around trying to beat other trainers with just one type of pokemon, and if you try to, it will be difficult. Other than that, it isn't all that complicated. Control wise, it is also rather easy because all you do is move around using the arrows and you press them to run, and there is also a button for the menu as well as to select anything from it. For the most part, this game is for anybody, and you don't have to be a pokemon wizard to play it considering it is pretty easy to get the hang of, therefore, I scored it a 4 for difficulty.

Overall: 9.5

I gave this game an overall of 9.5, the game is really good being one of the first pokemon games. I definitely recommend it to those who are a fan of pokemon games, and those who like the classics because this is the game for you!
