Harvest Moon: Friends of Mineral Town or
Bokujō Monogatari: Mineral Town no Nakama Tachi, its name in Japan,
is the fourth installment in the series of Harvest Moon games.
It is based upon you the character, owning a farm.
Meaning, planting and harvesting crops, caring for animals and somehow mining and making sprites into your slaves.

So lets cover the controls first,
GAME-BOY CONTROLS

Start : Brings up the menu window

Select : Brings up the farm summary.
Here you can see how much money you have, animal heart levels,
tool levels, Harvest Sprite skill levels, and your daily and monthly profits.
Directional Pad : Enables you to move, It is also used to navigate many menus.

L Trigger : This makes your character whilst, mainly used for calling your dog,
horse or even to call people.

R Trigger : Whilst held down, it makes your character run.

A : Enables you to harvest crops, pick up objects such as your dog or basket.
It is also used to interact with objects and villagers.

B : Uses your currently equip tool and if held will charge a upgrade tool up.
Also used for exiting menus.

A + B : Opens up your Rucksack without going through the start menu.

L Trigger + B + up / down : Cycles through the tools you have in your Rucksack. If are holding a type of
food then you will eat it. (You don't have to use up or down to eat, only cycle through tools.)

L Trigger + A +up / down : Cycles through the items you have in your Rucksack, like crops or gifts for your beloved.

L Trigger + Select :Opens the farm map.

L Trigger + Start : Opens the World map.

Next is:
Menus.

When you use start, there will be 7 menus to open from that.

Diary :
This is the first menu, In which you can save using the two save game slots, (this is heavily used while mining.)

The next option is the auto-run;
Option #1 Directional pad = walk, R Trigger = Run,
Option #2 R Trigger = walk, Directional pad = Run,
I recommend using option two if you use a keyboard.

The last 3 options turns the;
Time display on and off,
the character portraits on and off,
and the character display names on or off.
I only recommend turning character portraits off if you know
the characters by name. The other two should be kept on.

Rucksack :
The rucksack may be small at first (only 3 spaces and 3 tool spots, but it does get bigger,) but it will
get easier. The rucksack can hold crops and items, as well as tools. This will be your most used menu in a sense.

World Map :

Pretty self explanatory, just helps you navigate your away around town.
More experienced players won't need this feature.

Farm Map :

This shows your farm, your sprite, harvest sprites, dog and horse for there where-abouts on your farm.
This can be handy if your looking for your horse or dog.

Earnings :

This is the menu that appears when your press select,
it shows how much money you have, animal heart levels,
tool levels, Harvest Sprite skill levels, and your daily and monthly profits.

Memo:

This is basically your shipment list,
it shows what you've shipped and how many of them.
It also shows what kind of fish you have caught,
and Harvest Sprite mini-game scores,
as well as the farthest you have tossed  the Frisbee in the Frisbee Disc mini-game.

Mineral Town:
The layout of Mineral Town is quite easy to remember, the hardest
part would probably be remembering shop closing times... (I will include directions from your farm.)

Your Farmland: Without the farm there is no game and as of such its one of the biggest areas.

Your house goes in the top corner, the stable, horse shed, lumber storage are all to the right,
your chicken coop is to the south of your house.

Hot Springs: Can be found to the south west of your farm (south once north-west path),
here you can regenerate your Fatigue and Strength.

Goddess Pond: (south, north-west path) Is north of the hot strings, here you can toss in
gifts, to summon the harvest goddess.

Ore Mine: (south, north-west path) Here you can mine for minerals to upgrade your tools with,
and get to the bottom (floor 255) to find the teleport stone.

Mother's Hill Summit: (south x2, North) Nothing much up here, besides when theres an event.

Carpenter: (south) In the woods behind your farm lives Gotz. He sells wood, extends your house,
barn and chicken coop and sells you golden lumber at a certain point.
Shop Hours: 11am - 04pm, closed on Saturdays

Chicken Farm: (north, first right. (first area to the south))
Here you can buy chickens and feed.
and sell any chickens you don't want.
Shop Hours: 11am - 04pm, closed on Sundays

Blacksmith:  (north, first right. (first area to the north))
Here Saibara can upgrade your tools, and make gifts for your chosen beloved.
Shop Hours: 10am - 04pm, closed on Thursdays

Yodel Ranch: (north, first right. (second area to the south (not the pathway)))
Here you can buy cows, sheep, miracle pregnancy stock, animal cures
and sell any sheep and cow you don't want.
» Shop Hours: 10am - 03pm, closed on Mondays

Rose Plaza: (north, straight right, north) Just a square where most festivals are held, access to beach.

Mineral Beach: (north, straight right, north, right) Many festivals are held here, you can also fish and play Frisbee
with your pet dog.

Snack Shack: (Mineral Beach) Only during the summer can you go here, as the owner
Kai is only in Mineral town during summer.
Shop Hours: 11am - 01pm, 05pm - 07pm, closed on Sundays


Zack and Won: (Mineral Beach) Zack is the guy who collects your stuff and won is a con-artist who sells stuff to you. Nothing else to be said.
» Shop Hours: 11am - 04pm, every day except holidays

Sprite's Hut: (north, straight right, north x 3) Here you can make "friends" with the many sprites and eventually turn them into your farming salves.
But that's a completely different topic.
» Shop Hours: 09am - 06pm, every day except holidays

Church: (north, straight right, north x 3) Here you can get cursed tools blessed by Carter. For a price of 1000 G.
» Shop Hours: 10am - 06pm, every day except holidays
» Confession Hours: 01pm - 04pm, available Mondays, Wednesdays, and bad weather days

Clinic: (north x 3 Left of the church) Here you can be examined by the doctor for 10 G, you can also buy medicine from Elli the nurse.

General Store: (Left of the Clinic) Here you will buy your crop seeds, cooking ingredients, rucksack upgrades and eventually
your blue feather for marrying that special someone.

Doug's Inn: (North x 2, Second place on the street) Hilariously 4 of your rivals live one room in the inn...
yeah perfectly normal... Besides the odd going ons upstairs,
downstairs you can access the phone which is used to buy things
from the shopping network.
» Shop Hours: 08am - 09pm, every day except holidays
