Sonic Advance 3 was released late in the Gameboy Advances life time. It's still a fun game, this time you can team up with a partner. Is it a good thing or a bad thing? Lets find out.

GAMEPLAY B+: This game has classic Sonic action at its best. This time however you get to team up with a partner. Unlike other Sonic games with this concept. You actually don't rely on your partner. Your partner just runs around and dies. I like how well this game combines old school platforming action with speed never before seen in a Sonic advance title. It comes together really well. One thing that makes this game so annoying is the level selection screens. I would rather have a simple map or the levels to just scroll through then to find them in a maze of scenery. These "areas" have bonus stages for getting extra lives and portals to the levels.

GRAPHICS A-: Although the characters are somewhat pixelated. The graphics are quite good. I normally think of the Gameboy Advance as a portable SNES with different games. There are some neat scaling effects, and the scenery is good looking. The only bad side is the backgrounds, most 2D Sonic games have very detailed backgrounds that use parallax scrolling very well. In this game however there's not as many layers to the backgrounds as there  should have been.

SOUND A+:The music in this game is awesome and the crystal clear voices only make it better. In fact I repeated levels just to hear the music even though there's a sound test on the menu screen.

ADDICTIVENESS A+: This game will definitely entertain you for hours. The fun levels and the depth of this game makes you want to play for a long time.

DEPTH A+: For a little Gameboy Advance cartridge this game has a lot to offer. There's 7 areas with 4 zones in each of them. Plus other things like bonus stages and the neat but useless chao garden.

DIFFICULTY MEDIUM: The difficulty is quite balanced. The levels progress difficulty quite well and all the deaths you will have are fair.

OVERALL RATING A

TIPS
1. This is quite obvious but I'll say it anyway. Collect as many rings as you can.
2. Don't go to fast for to long or you might get squished by something.

I just got a new load of 2600 games that's why I'm reviewing so many.

I liked Sonic Advance 3. But too damn bad that the Zone 4 boss is really hard, even harder than I could try. I keep getting Game Over's constantly, quit the game months ago. The ending may be worth the game, but what I find really redundant is the special stages. They only happen when you get a special key, a key that can only be found by finding all the chao in a zone! :O No kidding, it's that redundant, like finding the kids in Michael Jackson's Moonwalk on Sega Genesis.
