I personally hate Button Mashing more than QTE's, with QTE's you can just tap the button, and you get to see your character doing epic moves. But press the Triangle button repeatedly to open a door just seems lame to me, and I cant stand button mashing in games like Metal Gear, Star Fox Adventures. Those games require you to tap the button like a robot, I always have to have someone to do it for me. So what mechanic annoys you more.

I think your definition of "Button Mashing" is a little different than mine. Tapping a button at certain points in a game is not what I consider "Button Mashing"

As far as the question is concerned, I dislike button mashing way more. At least with QTE's they can make the game interesting as long as it's just lightly mixed into a game. I don't usually like games that are built entirely around them. a game like God of War I can get into for certain battles, just can get lame at times.

Button mashing on the other hand takes no skill. It's pretty much hit all the buttons as fast as you can and hope something good will happen. Usually done by people that don't know how to play fighting games.

Button mashing is terrible. I don't mind it, but usually I have to literally put my index finger on the button and then use the rest of my hand to quickly mash the button so I do something I need to do on a game.

In fact, one of my favorite games, Heavy Rain (PS3 Exclusive) is ENTIRELY QTEs.

I say quick time events because they don't usually give enough time. Also I play a lot of games with a quick time events. Button smashing I use to since I play super smash bros melee a lot.

I think button mashing is the most annoying because sometime you have to button mash for the stupidest of reasons like opening doors its only good when your character is doing a epic special move that's the only time button mashing is ever any good

I don't dislake either of them I must admit ^^°
But well Davideo is right if he says button mashing can wreck the controller =/  (but I'm pretty good at button mashing so I always break highscore... and how can you dislike something which makes you always rank one xD)
But  QTE's get on my nerves when you have like 16 buttons appearing for a short time and if you don't get all at the right time you have to do it all over again >__< that was in a naruto game I played once... But the moves in some games are awesome so I like it =)

But what I personally think is more anoying than these two is in games like mario party for the n64 where you have to draw circles like crazy with the analog stick because if you want to win a game like this you have to do it so quick that your hand really hurts after that for a while and it also wrecks the controller and I think it wrecks him more than button mashing... =(

I HATED button mashing in Star Fox Adventure ... Oh man how annoying that part was. I don't remember completely but there was this part where Fox had to keep pushing " a log ? " , I think and the button mashing part for that was really hard. I had to use my teeth to do it haha
