A Noob in online gaming is someone who is lacking in skill and/or just started a game, and tries to be all big and bad about it. Also, a secondary definition would be a newbie which would be like saying he is a new guy/girl, new player, and/or new comer. Also in the case where another definition comes along as an insult, usually in MMORPG's or Xbox Live, or PSN. Many people on these types of gaming servers will get upset over it, because they take everything serious, and start flaming. A common word that many flamers over said games is the word "Noob." Basically they insult the person because they are upset that the person that killed/beat them is either a:Lower rank then them. B:Higher rank then them. C: Same rank but has a lot better skill then them. I will admit I have gotten angry at a video game, but it was because it froze. I don't get really angry at video games, just to the point where I will shut it off and go do something productive until I have calmed down.(Takes about 10 minutes usually.) How would I describe a noob? Well, a noob for me is a person that lack knowledge of the game that he or she is playing. The worst case is tactical online games such as call of duty where if your playing a team related game mode with a noob on your team, the possibility of you losing grows higher with each noob on your team. How do I deal with them? Nothing really, you cant do much about if you don't know them. But when my team swallows because there are noobs are my team or sorry players I just quit. Plain and simple.

I would say, someone who just started the game and can never win. Seems pretty legit.   

Hmm, that is a difficult one. I'd say that a noob in a game falls in to a few categories.

Someone who uses cheap tricks, such as spawn killing, to get lots of points but are no match in fair fight. 

I think it is someone who takes it way too seriously, and uses cheats and codes to win, they don't really have a life, and they spend all their time focusing on the game, but they can't do it that well without the use of cheats or hacks to help them. The just jump into a game, with no understanding of what the game is about, or what you are supposed to do, but they play it anyway and fail.

I think there is a difference between a "noob" and what the topic creator was talking about. A noob is someone who is new to the game, and what the topic creator's talking about is a jerk.

How I handle noobs: If they're on my team, I try to help them out if I have a microphone. If not, then I just let them run out and die, exposing the enemies so I can take them out. Really that's all you can do, because getting mad does nothing for you.

In respect to the jerks who spawn kill in Battlefield, I do this (quite successfully, most of the time). I chill with a sniper for a while, taking a few heads while I can. After I've gotten them riled up some, I go to the side where the least of my players are, which is where their defenses usually are weaker, and make my way up to attempt to come from behind and take the enemies by surprise. Sometimes it works, but sometimes it doesn't. The best thing to do in this case is to use a Recon class with some kind of silenced machine gun as opposed to the typical sniper class, and set up a spawn point behind their lines. If your team is good, you could either kill some from behind or go for objectives further back, forcing your opponents to backtrack, and allowing the rest of the team to advance.

With rocket people, I simply get out my own rocket and fire back. That, or I use a sniper from a distance and take them out. That's really all you can do, although using a flak jacket would really help you in that respect.

With snipers, I really don't mind them so much unless they're spawn camping. I use a healthy blend of all different types of weapons, and a lot of times I just counter snipe. But when it's a map that's still up for contention and there are a few snipers around, I'll try to get behind them and knife them. Not only is the animation cool, but you get their dogtags, and you get the sense of joy that comes with knifing a sniper. There's something about that above all else in Battlefield 3 that really makes the game exciting. Besides, of course, flying jets or C4ing tanks. Those are my absolute favorite things to do in that game.

A Noob would probably be defined in shooting games as: tubers, campers, low level, bad, and as when your mad you call someone a Noob for no reason.

Noob has so many different meanings that it's really about how you use it.. but seeing from your original post and it's context, I'm pretty sure you're talking about someone that is using cheap tactics within a game.  It's only cheap if the game is imbalanced.  Otherwise, there's always a way around "difficult" enemy tactics.

Depends what kind of game if its like C.O.D. than the guy who gets in the helicopter but if its a fighting game like Soul caliber than spamming moves that knock enemies away like Nightmare can in 4 and anybody who hacks or uses cheats to make the game less hard for themselves

A noob would be defined in a FPS as a camper, low level or just plain bad at the game itself.
In other games such as Role playing game they would be low levels or not know the best tactics.

1. Noob is a pejorative and derogatory term used to belittle and demean people, since it's never used in a positive context.

2. I never come across noobs playing online games since I don't use that term. There are bad players yes and I try to ignore them whenever possible but degrading someone else isn't a good thing.

A noob to me is someone that has no experience in playing online games and doesn't know anything about the controls and the gameplay.

Well the way I define a noob in a game is someone who is brand new to the game not someone who is bugging you or does something to bug you believe me I have been called a noob a bunch of times in games I accel at people just call someone a noob to easily nowadays its just sad.

Especially when some body is real new to that game. Let's say Pokemon. You chose an attack that does not even affect the opponent. The other person calls you a n00b.
