I would want to be at the top of a building like something out of Dawn of The Dead without the zombies able to get inside

Probably in my sister's dorm room. The only disadvantage is that the dorm room is a long ways away, so I probably would need to stop for gas.

The beat terrian for a zombie attack would be flat level ground because there would be no sneek attacks and it would be quite hard for them to get the upper hand on you.

I am also gonna say a city, zombies are slow, most cannot climb, and humans are faster, zombies limp and are very slow, and yes there are places to hide in the city, and you can find supplies.

Personally I think that a desert would be the best place to be held up against a zombie attack. The heat would cause the tissue to decay a lot faster. So one would just need to have a dune buggy to go out every once and a while to find canned food. That or you could build a fortress with a built in pod and a recycling water system. I actually have on of those planned out! The dust storms would be horrid for the zombies as well. It would bury them and slow them down even more.

It depends.
Could the Zombies swim?
If not I'd get a boat to an island which no one had lived on which hopefully had a food-source.

If they could, then I would stick to a city and stay up top to avoid the zombies.

Well since it has to be an open area, I would go for a rock plateau, simply because it would give a better range of vision, and it would be easier to keep my footing than sand or snow. I started to choose desert, but it would be too hard to see or hear them during a sandstorm.

iN008 : Most dead bodies float. Most zombie lore states that the body is dead first. So the most likely course would be that they would float to your island. The salt in the sea would preserve their body a little bit thus you would be stuck on an island with zombies.

Greyscar : they wouldn't just " float " to the island... it would be highly unlikely.
Due to the fact they could not control where they go they could easily be shoved away in the tides... and if they did float towards the island they would be easy targets.

Not to mention the fact that the island I suggest has no bridge meaning no one would be able to get there without a boat.
And I could simply build blockades around the island to stop any zombies floating ashore.

iN008 : That could work, but you forget one thing. If you build a blockade, then the bodies would pile up around it. They would then start climbing each other. However that is only if the tides don't take them. Second, Islands can only grow so much food. Some of the fish would probably try eating the zombies, so no fishing for you. Birds eat fish, so not catching birds. Where is you other food going to come from?

WalkerLOATS : College life gives you a lot of time to think, so I basically spend some nights I can't sleep on figuring how I'd survive in a zombie situation. This year is a new, more private, dorm on a higher floor, with the same security measures, so I'm good

iN008 : I can't help but find the image of a few zombies floating their way to their potential target hilarious. The more I think about it, the funnier it gets.
I live in the southern united states, where guns are in surplus. While I'm sure a zombie apocalypse is not likely to happen, and I'm not a violent person, I'm still pretty comforted by the fact almost everyone here is a gun owner, and there are many large gun stores and pawn shops around. In the situation, I would probably set up fort on a pier about a few thousand feet into the ocean not far from where I live.

CronoMaster : I'm the same, every time I go to London for something and stay over, in my head in the early hours of the morning I'm thinking of an action plan, my other half's the same. Some say it's 'sad' I say it's smart planning.

(It may be sad how much I'm ready for a zombie apocalypse though. . .)
