Honestly, Assassin's Creed and Halo. I just don't get the hype surrounding them. I finally got around to trying a few of them, but they were just utterly boring to me.

I saw an episode of a certain Let's Play of it (Pewdiepie's) that was called "SADDEST ENDING EVER" or something like that. I decided to watch it, and this "saddest ending" is just some weird thing trying to climb up a mountain and falling over. I asked in the comments why people were saying things like "I cried at this ending" and "Is this really the end?" and someone replied "You have to watch the first episode." So I watched the first episode. I got bored halfway through and just decided to give up on trying to figure out why people love the game so much.
You don't know who you are. You don't know where you are. You don't know what you're doing. You don't know what's happening. The only information on the game's plot is its name: It's definitely a journey.

Cod is the most overrated series of games out there today,cant believe how many people buy into it every time they announce that a new one is coming out,and boom what happens same Ole game just set during another war and rehashed maps and they have the nerve to charge 60 dollars for that yeah right 

I have a top ten list for this thread.
Mostly I do not answer these threads due to the fact that someone keeps shelling out cash to all of these games even I sometimes.
BUT...
I have to request a price drop on all of the new sequels that don't really give anything new or feed the hunger of the gaming community Properly.

Number 10 is the "Guitar Hero" stuff. (I know it's fairly over but..) Why not get a real guitar and play some music? I like the Idea just fine. I don't like the amount of cash required to play.

Number 9 is "Final Fantasy". I like digital the digital comic book idea But... when they made it a story you watch instead of read I have to speak up. New technology is great. But...to a point.
Why not just rent a movie and be done with it?

Number 8 is First Person Shooters that don't really cover new ground or have a different story.
C.O.D. is a big offender. I would not have them on this list if they only asked for $20.00 Bucks when they first release them. I could easily Jam to "13", or "Goldeneye Rouge Agent", or "FarCry" when any other new F.P.S. comes out and it would only cost me Five Bucks?

Number 7 is Racing games that ask for more than $20.00 bucks when its just a new number on the cover of the box. Allot of this has ended due to "G.T.A.", "Saints Rowe", and other "Sand-Box hits. But every now and again I see Ridge Racer or Grand Tourismo Stroll around with a new number and a Price Tag that requires severing a limb. It infuriates me to no end.

Number 6 "The Sims"?. ... Get A Life.

Number 5 "Sports Games" that do not do anything new. Basewars was a baseball game. Mutant League Was a football game. N.B.A. Jam and Arch Rivals Were Basketball games. The rest are great ways to spend money and have little to show for it. Anyone that asks more than $10.00 Bucks for a new one might be a fool. I honestly do not care for these games being over priced.

Number 4 "Tetris".
This game can be had for free. I should not complain right?

There should be a slew of new Puzzle games that people can think of that are better.
One of mine is "I.Q." (the little dude with the cubes). We all have played Tetris and we all can get it for free but I think we need to broaden our horizons when the term Puzzle and game are used in a sentence. Tetris is not the only Puzzle game out there folks. Move on.

Number 3 is going to shock a few.
Its Sonic.
Honestly?? I think the games should be priced at $10.00. I like the fact that he has not changed much from the original G to PG stuff for kids. I don't like the large amounts of cash they expect people to shell out. I am glad Vizzed is around to give the Sonic Experience of the past and show folks there's nothing much to it.

Number 2 is going to amaze a few.

I never had a game cube and I don't have or need a Wii.
I have saved many dollars and enjoyed my Playstation-1 or X-box or 360. Plus....
Video Games are for recreation. Not for working out. You want to sweat? Buy a basket ball and go shoot some hoops. (Cant find a hoop? Make one and hang it up.)

Any Call of Duty game, I'm sick of hearing people praise them. I've seen a few videos about them and that was enough for me to not get interested about them.

Assassin's Creed is way over-rated. Seen videos, could care less about playing the game. It doesn't look all that exciting.

And then, big shocker... Pokémon. Yeah, Pokémon. Why is everyone so obsessed about the games? They're all the same type of game! At least to me they are. Collect Pokémon, defeat others with them, get badges. In every game. Oh the fun (sarcastically said). I have tried to play some Pokémon but I get really bored after a while trying to level up them, trying to catch them, trying to find the ones I'd like to have... it gets really boring and tedious.

Alright, rant over.

One more to the list: The Sims. I mean.... really? I'd rather watch soap opera than play any Sims.

Minecraft, and call of duty black ops. DUH!

FIFA.
Everyone here in Brazil plays FIFA. Whenever someone buys a new console,the first two games are always FIFA and Call of Duty.
In fact,most people here in Brazil don't even own a Nintendo console,this makes-me rather sad.
What i don't even understand is,why do we have FIFA 11,FIFA 12,FIFA 13...they're all the same! The gameplay is the same,the soundtrack barely changes,the graphics are very similar,and there's rarely a new game mode between each year. And most importantly...
You waste R$119 on FIFA 11. Then you waste R$129 on FIFA 12. Then you waste R$139 on FIFA 13...can't they make an online feature where all you have to do is update your own game data? Instead,they choose to make new games,just to get extra cash.

There are so many overrated games in my opinion, but I am happy a few people touched upon them for me already!

Just like others have mentioned, I find Call of Duty to be very overrated. I tried playing it, and just got bored and annoyed with it. It may have to do with me not really liking war games much, but I was trying to play as I would the 007 games. For awhile it was fun, but I just got annoyed with all the shouting and running (or you know... WAR).

Another one would be Halo, though I do think it is actually a decent enough game. It just is not the best thing that has come to mankind as some like to think. I only got a chance to play the original Halo briefly, but even I found it pretty fun and easy on the eyes.

Final Fantasy games in general I find to be way over-hyped. It annoys me that when people think RPGs, they tend to jump right onto Final Fantasy. Sure, I enjoyed quite a few games, and hey! I actually enjoy watching people play them. But I find a lot of mechanics in these games to be overcomplicated and, to be frank, annoying! I liked playing Final Fantasy 6, 8, and 9. After that, I just resolved to watching the games being played instead. When I see how complicated the mechanics and skill systems got in Final Fantasy 12 and 13, I just shook my head. I heard 10 is similar, but I have not played or witnessed it being played as of yet.

Kingdom Hearts has gotten over-hyped too. This is another series I happen to enjoy, but just get tired of hearing people go on and on about.

MitsuriZX reminded me of another thing that people get over-hyped about; SPORTS GAMES! I am talking about the ones that come out every year and are essentially the SAME DANG GAME with minor updates! "Hey wanna play Madden 2014?" NO! It also does not help I find them really boring. If I wanted to play or watch real sports, I would go and PLAY/WATCH real sports. Give me crazy stuff happening like the Mario or Tiny Toons sports games did/do.

I think that covers most of my over-hyped game choices, but I may have forgotten a few.

Call of Duty and World of Warcraft are so overrated...I can't stand either of them >

SilverMaestro : I agree with the ocarina of time being overrated.I just don't understand why people don't like majora's mask as much if it was still good and had it's unique gameplay while obviously having a unique story as well.It also had ocarina gameplay into it due to majora being it's sequel so how come it's not nearly as popular?I know it's a bit more popular now then it was before due to certain let's plays but I guess i'm just over thinking.

The whole COD series, I mean don't get me wrong the games are okay. But honestly they're not that great, every year they release a new game with a few new guns and a unoriginal story. At least Halo made an effort when it comes to storyline, all COD does is glob on an extra helping every time a new game comes out.

I think CoD and Skyrim is overrated. CoD is just the same with each new release and so many underaged kids playing them(swearing too). Skyrim, while I do enjoy fantasy and RPGs and people have some awesome looking mods from WoW (Scholomance and several pieces of gear), I just heard a lot "taking arrow to the knee" jokes in WoW trade chat and self-facepalms that it got ridiculous.

Sonic Adventure 2 is overrated. I said it.
Let me explain myself, first.
While I DID enjoy the game, the game didn't stand up to the standards to what the fanbase had set for the game IMO. The story had some plot holes, mostly with what Eggman's grandfather did, and I hated the treasure hunting stages, especially Death Chamber, Egg Quarters, Mad Space, and Meteor Herd, because the limited radar and huge level to explore, and I liked the SA1 Soundtrack much better, because the SA1 Soundtrack was more diverse, while SA2 was mostly rock(which is fine) that sounded slightly different from each other.

Anyway, Cod Is also over-rated. Seriously, It's the only game that  ANY teenager will play...
