In this special review, I decided to review Super Mario Bros 2. This game is both pretty good, and pretty bad at the same time. Its good since its a sequel for Mario Bros, and it was fairly popular in the NES, I have no problem with that. What I do have a problem, is that its an unoriginal game. Its a rehash of another game called Doki Doki Panic which is from the Famicom system that was originally suppose to release for the NES, but it was never released outside of Japan. So they decided to put the game, mix the story up, put the faces of Mario, Luigi, Toad, and Peach on them, and slap the Super Mario Bros 2 logo on it, and bam! You got yourself a Mario 2 game. So let's begin the review.

DIFFICULTY: 6
Its not that hard at all. yeah, it has its difficulties, and yeah it has some different techniques to beat bosses and enemies. Instead of simply jumping on them, you instead find a plant area, or its grass like head, and pull out vegetables, and hurl them at the enemies. Yeah, that's something you want your kids to know. Don't eat them, kids, instead, throw them at animals! No wonder they didn't release it. Overall the difficulty isn't anything special, it pretty much only appears when you bump into the end of the level boss or world boss, so I wouldn't worry about the enemies or the level itself. Maybe the last level castle, but nothing you should get worried about.

DEPTH: 5
The depth is fairly long. Yeah its pretty long if you count the worlds. In total there are 7 worlds, and 20 levels total. So yeah, it's not THAT long, if you know the secret warps that is.
Here's a list of the bosses in the game.

Birdo: You might see this guy a lot. It should be pretty easy to kill it with throwing its eggs at it when spitted out. Most likely you will see it half the time at the end of the level.

Red Birdo: This guy is exactly the same person, only it spits out fire every once in a while, so watch out where you jump. Its all about timing. Again, 3 hits will kill it.

Green Birdo: This one is probably the toughest in its species. It does not spit out fire at all, it only spits out fire. Nothing more, nothing less. You need to find an object in the room to throw at the Birdo to kill it. again, it should be dead in 3 hits.

Mouser: A mouse type of bad guy, that throws bombs at Mario/Luigi/Toad/Peach. To defeat this guy, you need to grab the bombs he throws, and throw it back at him. Three hits should kill him.

FryGuy: That one fire enemy that attacks you by only touching you. Once you throw objects at it 3 times, it doesn't die. Instead, it falls to mini FryGuys and jumps around. 1 hit should squish them out of existance. Beware that the more you kill, the faster/higher they move. Watch out.

Tryclyde: Basically a Snake with 3 heads. Yeah, its straight from your wildest dreams of hell right here. It spits fire at you at any direction possible. Luckily there is an easy stradegy to avoid it, make a wall of your objects to throw, and throw the object over that wall to hit it. Should die in 3 hits.

Clawgrip: Basically your average crab on steroids with its attacks on you. Its pretty tough, I'd be cautious about it. Again, 3 hits should finish it off.

Wart: The King Frog of the game? I don't know, its a mystery if he's a king or not, he just has a cape and crown. In this final battle, it sits up on the corner and shoots out 4 bubbles of death at you. Easily avoidable, luckily. To kill it off, you need to catch the vegetables coming out of this machine in the room, and throw it in his mouth. Basically choking him out. I'm not sure how many exact hits it should kill it, but its more than 3. I'd guess maybe 5 or 7? Something in that range. It takes a bit.
Overall the game depth may sound very long, in reality, its not. If you know what to do, you should beat this game in one sitting.

STORY: 7
The story basically sums up to this: Mario is contacted through his sleep that this person's kingdom is in dire danger, and Mario, and his friends are their only hope to stop the madness and restore peace to its kingdom. So Mario wakes up and gathers Peach, Toad, and Luigi and they head out to find this Kingdom. They stumble upon this doorway, and they fall down to their new adventure. To sum it up, Mario is out to fight another battle that isn't Bowser this time, only a new enemy that is not enclosed to be Wart yet. Mario gathers his friends to help him along his adventure to save this unknown Kingdom.

ADDICTIVENESS: 8
Its pretty average in addictiveness, but I put it up in the higher rankings since its one of the pretty good classics of the NES, and I have a fun time playing it. Its a shame its only one player, or I would bump this up to at least a 9. Oh well. Overall I would play this for a good couple of hours if I set my mind to it. Its really fun, but the bad side is that only one player gets to play. Which sucks. In my opinion, I'd think that you would feel the same way, the game is fun, but it has its bad sides on it.

SOUND: 8
The sound is pretty cool, its repetitive though, which is pretty stupid imo. Yeah, I sound like a broken record right now with the "stupid" comments, but yeah, its kind of lame that they didn't have much on the sound track, but then again, its the NES days, they didn't have that much of a variety to offer. Look at Mario 1 and 3. They had only a hand full of games to play. Example Mario 1. They only had 4 themes. Overworld, underworld, water, and castle. That, and the you got the princess, and you beat Bowser themes. Mario 3 had a bit more, but you get the idea. Overall, the music isn't annoying one bit, it may be repetitive after a while, but its catchy and pretty legendary. If you know what I mean.

GRAPHICS: 7
They are mediocre at best when you count the overall graphics and creativity in the 8 bit world. Its okay since its 8 bit, I'm not expecting to be amazed when I'm seeing this in the game, but its a bit under average. I didn't see much creativity. Overall, I'm not too impressed on how they made the game with this. Yeah, its 8 bit but I expected better out of them. I'll give them credit though, they did what they could for the game. Its only 8 bit. They can only do so much with it.

OVERALL: 8.4
Overall, the game is pretty memerable for what its done for the business. It may be a rehash of Doki Doki Panic, but it could have been much much worse. I mean, look at some sequels to some games, some of them took a good game, and completely tarnished its reputation. Some of them made an embarrassment to the original game. It just sucked. This game didn't do that, thankfully. I enjoyed what its done. Great game.
Final Verdict: The game doesn't suck the life out of Mario Bros. It may not be the original Super Mario Bros 2 but it didn't completely disappoint our expectations. I liked it.
Do I recommend playing it? Yeah, its a good time killer and can be fun.

Thanks for reading.

Super Mario Bros 2 ``USA`` is not a bad game, but why they made a Copy of Yume Kojou: Doki Doki Panic? Why they have not made a different game? Is weird. But Super Mario Bros 2 ``USA`` is better than Doki Doki Panic. For example, you can run in SMB2, but not in Doki Doki Panic

You review is very long! And good, and have a lot of informations!
