Before anyone moves this thread to Your Forum I wanted to say that this video is about more than just showcasing myself on a weapon. It's also to show you guys what it's like to be on a firing range sometime and to show a military weapon in action (that's actually functioning like it's supposed to). Having said that, if it still needs to go to Your Forum then you won't hear any complaints from me.

Working at the firing range as a safety today. We had plenty of M240 ammo since only 6 people came through for that particular weapon qualification. We couldn't take any of it back to the ammo point, so what better way to get rid of a FEW THOUSAND rounds? It wasn't just me firing the ammo though. Others did as well, and some of them even tore up a stake or two at the end of the range at the bottom of the dirt mound you'll see. In the video, You see me holding the trigger down and running the rounds through for long periods of time. You're supposed to fire only bursts of 5-7 rounds at a time, but we weren't informed until after I was done. The reason for this is that the barrel of the weapon gets super hot and can potentially melt a little, causing it to bend and become permanently unserviceable. The Army is very stingy about it's money, so precautions must be kept to prevent financial losses. However, people through all branches of the military still "have fun" with certain equipment.

M240 is awesome same with M60 and SAWs. Next time you should try firing an AT4 or minigun

I watched the video hours ago, but never actually commented on how cool that was. I have not fired many guns at all... It looks like a bit of fun. I think you should have recorded like 15 minutes of continuous gunfire.

Sephitard9001 : Yeah, it was a good thrill. Very rarely do people get the chance to fire a fully automatic weapon. So I definitely let up on the dirt mound down range. Other weapons I've fired in my time (other than M16/M4) are a .50 cal machine gun, MK19 (machine grenade laucher) and an AT-4. We only do them when we have people who need to qualify with them, as was the case that day. A lot of times units end up with excess rounds that you can't return, so you're pretty much forced to shoot them all off. I just remembered the same thing happened several years ago, but with smoke grenades and grenade simulators. We had an excess of those and set them off blowing up various things, provided we didn't blow our hands up in the process.

I haven't fired an M240 in a while, but it's pretty fun. I just hate having to collect the brass. Dx
