I have tried about 4 times and World 2-1 is IMPOSSIBLE to beat. I get stuck next to the flagpole and cannot move until time's up. I wasted all my lives trying the air,the ground yadda yadda. This game wasn't very pretty either. The colors were all messed up,the enemies were placed poorly,its like Mario was high. The controls are also messed up. As sometimes it keeps going the direction I was going when I let go of the arrow key and I fall off the edge. Sure the game was fun but the pipes were cut off by the end,the graphics sucked and the enemy placement was bad. There were several glitches were it spawned me over an edge and I had to quickly jump out of it,which took me a while to master,and a lot of lives. The game gives u a lot of lives,but it makes u lose more as you go. You have no idea what to do at 2-1 when u get stuck right before the flagpole and it just screws u out of the game. No joke,it seriously did. I wouldn't play this game until the creator of the ROM has fixed up that glitch. There's not really a way around it.


So,I'll give this game a 2. But JUST because it was fun while it lasted.

Well, you have to take the intention of the hack into account when you're rating it. If the game is called "New Strange Mario Bros," then you know something weird is going on. I would blame the weird colors and controls on that. So it wasn't complete negligence in the end that made the game bad.

Actually, I didn't know of this until now that the game's title was incorrect. Instead of New Strange Mario Bros it should be "Strange Mario Bros", he's made another hack titled The New Strange Mario Bros which isn't in the rgr but I'll see about getting it added.

The new hack fixes those bugs supposedly.

I tend to agree that the vast majority of the Mario hacks are rubbish, and not worth the time. I remember looking at Mario Jump and there is a lot of things that are drastically altered by simply altering very minor things...for instance after a certain height the timer will freeze and the game goes into a being of non-existence.
