Donkey Kong Land on Game Boy Color is a fun old game to play.  It is basically like Donkey Kong Country, but only a little different.  When I played it, I really liked it because I am a big fan of Donkey Kong Country and since it is similar to this, I really enjoyed it.  The game play is not really the same.  It is kind of confusing when you start out playing.   I guarantee that this game is fun and very interesting to play.

Graphics - 8

The graphics are not that bad.  It looks very good and well-made.  The effects are boring, but it is what other Game Boy Color games would be.

Sound - 7

The sound is very different from what I would hear in Donkey Kong Country.  When you jump on an enemy, it does not sound like it would sound like when you jump on the enemy.  I do not care about it, but it is just a bit weird to hear every time I jump on an enemy.  The music playing is similar to Donkey Kong Country and it sounds so cool because it sounds techno-like.

Addictiveness - 8

I would play this game lots of times because like I said, I am a big fan of Donkey Kong Country games.  It is not addicting, but it has its own ways of being fun.

Story - N/A

There is no story in this game.  Since it is kind of like the first Donkey Kong Country game, I would explain it instead.  King K Rool has stolen bananas from Donkey Kong, so it is up to him and Diddy Kong to retrieve their bananas back from King K Rool.  Pretty simple as you can see.  What caught me off guard was one of the enemies.  It was a flying pig.  I have never seen that in any game before and I would not expect it to be in a Donkey Kong game.  I thought I was hallucinating and when I looked at the cover of the game, I was sure not.

Depth - 6

The game does not have a lot to offer since it is a Game Boy Color game, but it is pretty interesting to what it has than Donkey Kong Country.  For instance, the checkpoint barrel is a coin instead.  When you touch it, it will show a thumbs up.  Another thing is that I do not think that there is any bonus barrels where you can get coins or 1-Ups.  I have played this a lot and I have not seen one yet, so I am not sure if it is in this game.  The lives are completely different.  Instead of a balloon that looks like Donkey Kong, it is hearts under the screen.  Kind of weird, but it does not bother me since I can know how many lives I have.

Difficulty - 6

The game is quite hard.  I am not used to the controls in this game, but it is an old game.  I have a hard time jumping on the enemies and being able to jump from one platform to the other.  It is just hard to control, but it is okay for me since I have been used to games that have a hard time controlling the person.  Other than that, the game plays fair.

Wrap Things Up...

Donkey Kong Land is very fun to play and it is interesting to play old games that were made similar to what we play these days.  I highly recommend trying this game out if you have not already.  It can get boring some of the time, but it is still playful to me.
