I've essentially stopped watching movies just for the sake of gore.  However, I did enjoy the Saw movies. I know I know. "Those movies had no story line. They were nothing but gore blah blah blah." Not true. They had a decent and sometimes mind-bending story to them and the gore was pretty gruesome, but that was to be expected from such movies.

I'm a big horror movie buff, so I've seen a ton of disgusting Hollywood special effects in my time. I dislike movies that are cheesy with the amounts of gore and fake blood. But when it's cleverly shot, disgusting, and makes you squirm with sound effects.. I think that's pretty clever and I think it's entertaining. Haha.

One of the worst horror movie scenes, for me, is in Saw II when a girl falls in to a pit of used heroin needles. They're stabbing into her bare arms and legs all over because she has to jump down and put all her weight on them. It's disgusting beyond belief. o.O

One that was particularly gross is the French movie Martyrs (it's subtitled in English), and I don't want to give any spoilers. But somebody gets skinned alive and they're lying on a table without any skin. Pretty horrifying.

Well, Saw automatically jumps to mind. It's very well known for its gore and stuff. One moment that got me was the hair trap in Saw IV. Even though I'm a guy and that trap is pointed towards women since they have long hair, it made me cringe. >.>

Other movies that comes to mind are The Evil Dead and The Evil Dead 2.  Plenty of gore and was filmed on a low budget.
