I'm so surprised that Mario Kart 64 is not winning this. I thought the whole MK (Not to be confused with Mortal Kombat) fanbase thought Mario Kart 64 was God. And to me it is God. It has the best tracks and most memorable multiplayer in the series. And Rainbow Road was just magical.

If I was old enough when Mario kart 64 came out it would probably be my favourite but when I play it years later and Mario kart wii is out it doesn't feel as good so I voted for Mario kart wii

I've not really played any of the hand-held Mario Kart games, so for me it's really between the console versions.

My favourite is Mario Kart: Double Dash, out of the ones that I've played. The reason is that I like it the most is because I really liked the idea of two people on one kart, one driving and the other controlling the items. In all other Mario Kart games you're also only able to do the Grand Prix with two players, but in Double Dash you could  be four, because you'd be 2 on each of the 2 karts that you have at your disposal.

It just introduced a new level of cooperation into the Mario Kart games, and what better, you weren't forced to tag-team on the karts, and you weren't gimped if you went alone either.

That said, I remember both Mario Kart and Mario Kart 64 very fondly from when I was a kid, and I like playing both of them from time to time again.

My personal favorite Mario kart game is "Mario kart 64". Why? Well it is one of the few Mario kart games I've played next to the Super Nintendo version. I like it for the original characters, items and all the different multiplayer themes. So I don't know what the others are like but this is my favorite for those reasons and those reasons alone.

It was close to me, but Super Mario Kart took it a little further than Double Dash. It was a very classic game, and you know how much i love classics. It also had challenging levels, along with great power ups like the feather.

The music is some of the best I've heard in the Mario Kart series, most notably the game's version of Rainbow Road music. The aspect of two drivers is very innovative to me and felt like it was done masterfully. Not only that, but this game is the one in the series that I have played the most because of its strong replay value. If you haven't played this gem, I highly recommend it.
