Hi,

I am in the process of buying some accessories for my new PS3 slim and I was wondering if buying a stand whether it be vertical or horizontal was worth it. I had to buy a new console because my old phat PS3 model ended up getting the Yellow light of death (YOLD) I attributed it to a lack of adequate air conditioning in my home which has since been fixed however, my room is relatively small and I have my PS3 on top of my DVD changer. I never have both on at the same time however I am a little more cautious now with my new console.

I am going to be buying some accessories for my new console over the next couple of weeks and I was wondering if buying a stand for it would be worth it? I have read some stuff that suggests that buying a stand specifically a vertical stand actually helps the console’s air flow better than from a horizontal position.

I was curious as to what fellow Vizzed members opinions were about this. I am a regular online shopper so I am use to looking for bargains and such but I don’t want to spend money on something if it isn’t going to be worth it obviously so I figured I would ask before I did anything. Years back I had a vertical stand for my PS2 and although it did the job I didn’t notice much of a difference but now with the Next generation consoles that might be a little different.


I am also looking for a keyboard and a Bluetooth headset so I am open to any suggestions.

I would say if you want to go ahead and get it get it. The stand makes it look snazzy and also it wont over heat as fast. This is great because you have to worry less about damage. As far as the keyboard goes I don't know. I never got one.

billythekidmonster : From my PS3: Well, the reason I am looking for a keyboard is so it will make it a little easier for me to either check my mail or in this instance write out messages on here without using my controller. Before my Phat went down with the YLOD I was using it as an alternative to my computer on my days off.



As for differences between the Phat and the Slim I will say that this is drastically quieter than my older model. I have read that the Slim uses less power so I am hoping if nothing else with an AC finally being adequately fixed that I will never have to worry about the YLOD again. The reason I am seriously considering a stand is more for percaution purposes than anything. It isn't easy being a freelance writer to afford expensive things especially in this economy.
