I believe that there are people out there that deserve the death penalty, for sure. I only think it should apply to mass murderers or rapists, like Charles Manson, Clifford Olsen and John Wayne Gacy. First degree murder perhaps, as well. These people do not deserve to live. One of the defining characteristics of psychopaths is that they cannot be rehabilitated. They are the anomalies of humanity. Their brains don't work like a normal persons. They were born that way. For example, a psychopath processes emotion in the part of the brain that is supposed to process language. Lying and faking emotion works for them in the same manner that you and I speak English. I see no reason why Irredeemable individuals such as this have any reason to stay on Earth.

I don't believe in lethal injection, though. These people made others' lives a living hell before they were finally restrained. They should FRY. I'm talking like, Saw movies type pain. Or what happened in Law Abiding Citizen. Systemic removal of all of the offenders' limbs, eyelids, tongues, intestines, etc. All vital organs harvested for medical use. Their bodies would finally do some good for humanity as their mind is shattered and departs.

With abortions, I see no logic in the other side's position, aside from certain interpretations that could be taken from certain religious scriptures.(There is no room in the courtroom for scripture.) I see no merit in these arguments.

What makes a person a person? is it their DNA? Their bodies? Or, is it their mind? The collection of ideas and experiences that makes someone an individual? A fetus has no human thoughts. If a fetus did, we'd remember them in our adult years. a fetus has no human experiences. They are nothing more than a mass of tissue growing at the behest of their DNA and by absorbing the nutrients of the host. (*)

A parasite.

Not a human, not at this point. If not for the DNA, a tapeworm could be considered as human as a fetus. Getting rid of a tapeworm isn't murder. Actually, at the point where it can be aborted without risk to the host, a fetus will look more like a fish or a lizard than a human. Like I said, it's just a mass of tissue. That's not my definition of human, any more than the sperm and ovum that spawn the fetus are. I mean, if we consider a human a human by its DNA, then it's murder for a man to ejaculate at all, or, for a woman to have a period. An, these sperm and egg cells are only made up of the proteins, calcium and sugars that the father and mother consume. One could extend the argument to say that throwing out those last two bites of steak is murder, because the protein contained therein can no longer be used for sperm production. It's a stretch, but to me it's comparable to saying that a fetus is human.

Not even to mention what it does to the mothers body. They are forced into a major lifestyle change through no fault of their own, and for a completely reversible reason at that. It isn't just for nine months, either. There's the warping of the hips, vagina, stomach, breasts, etc. If I went up to a random person and mutilated them in such a fashion, I'd go to jail for a long time. It's the woman's body. They should be able to do whatever they want with it.

Then there's the issue of incest, rape, and a threat to the woman's life. Almost everyone thinks that abortion should be legal for these women, with some thinking that abortion should be legal for JUST these women. I see a major flaw in that... I think it's wrong to merely make exceptions like that. We can't be selective. If it's legal for some people, it should be legal for everyone.

And, if a woman really wants an abortion, she'll get one. Coat hangars are not expensive. I wouldn't imagine back-alley abortions being too hard to find, either. The point is, abortion should be legal for the sakes of these desperate women as well. They have the right to be treated for their condition by a trained professional.

And another thing, to all of the ignorant responses saying that people just shouldn't have sex:

Sex is fun. Ugh. It's a perfectly natural process that feels good! It's not the government's job to decide what I do with another consensual adult behind closed doors. There is nothing wrong with it. The only things that could be said to be wrong with it are the result of misguided morals that have no place in today's society. With sex, there is no "should" or "shouldn't". Stick to your own morals, just don't force them on others. If you want to wait until marriage, or for "love," then wait for it, fine. I'm not going to force you not to. Just don't say "abortion should be illegal as punishment for not thinking the same way I do."

I believe in freedom.

(*) "Wow, Stikk! You're heartless! But, if you're saying that fetuses, eligible to be aborted by unwanting mothers, are inhuman blobs, then are you saying that about all babies and fetuses conceived by wanting parents are the same way?"

Not so, of course not. I'm not that crazy. The difference with children that the parents actually want is the projection of humanity. They may not be human, but the joyful parents want them to be, and think of them as human, so, by my logic, if the parent thinks of the fetus as human, only then is it alright for everyone else to think of it as human.

I see no problem what-so-ever with abortion some people make a wrong decision and everything goes south from there. Then there are the A-holes that commit inconceivable sexual felony's and then some of the women are forced to have a abortion because they cant stand the fact of what happened and what they would be left with. Now onto the Death Penalty... What do i think of it? I personally think its a complete joke. What are you going to get out of it? You kill someone that might have a family and people that will miss him. We talk about how humane the world should be but the sad fact is this world is getting less humane as we go on no matter how you slice it we are the least humane people that can only relate to eachother mainly through violence and other stupid things. Ok my little rant is over It was not my intention to offend anyone with this post.

I'm for the death penalty, but only in extreme cases, for people that have no respect for human life whatsoever, like serial killers/rapists.
Abortion, on the other hand, I would only support if the mother and baby's lives were in jeopardy otherwise. Other than that, it's an abomination to steal that life, and not something intended for a last-minute contraceptive.

I'm against Abortion cuz if you didn't want a baby then you never shoulda got knocked up to begin with...And my feelings toward the death penalty is kinda neutral. Humans should never kill one another...but those that do should be punished severely...they should focus more on that then on the people that dont bring any harm to anyone.

I'm for the death penalty and for abortion, here's why,

Daisuke0602 : What happens if a girl is raped? She won't want to keep the child if she becomes pregnant

Death Penalty, we have to think of the safety of those who matter, you might think it's not morally right to have the death penalty, but it is since you are keeping save hundreds of lives.

I support both. I think a woman has the right to choose to have an abortion in a nice and clean facility instead of using a coat hanger in an alley (because if you ban it, that will just happen more often); and I think that the death penalty is a useful punishment because some people deserve to die rather than be given a free ride in prison... no having to work, free food, chance to marry some psycho that likes marrying convicts, etc etc.

So I'm curious. Which position do you hold [on abortion and the death penalty]? For both, against both, or for one and not the other? And why?

In regards to abortion, I am against a mother aggressing against her child and taking its innocent life (in quite a terrible way at that), so that means I am opposed to abortion for convenience, as well as abortion because of incest, rape or that the child has some affliction. The only possible circumstance that would make me think it remotely "tolerable" would be if bringing the child to term would kill the mother.

As for the death penalty, I do believe people can commit aggressions against other that merit the ending of their life. At the same time, I am aware of the possibility for error by the state in this and I am also wary of supporting the state taking the life of its own supposed people, even those who no longer should be among the living.

I agree with both. For abortion, if a woman is raped and impregnated with someone's baby than I think that person deserves the right to have the baby she didn't want aborted. Also, if the person is stupid and has unprotected sex/forgot to take their birth control pill, they should have the right to kill the fetus. A different scenario would be if the kid has say Edwards Syndrome, they should be able to kill it. The fetus isn't a person, get that through your head. As for the death penalty, I agree with it. If someone killed my loved one I would want them to die also. "An eye for an eye"

I disapprove both. The act of killing a human being is uncivilized, unlawful, unjustifiable, and completely, 100%, insane. No matter what reasons you have, to take someones else life for your own life would be extremely selfish. To even think or create such things would be an act of a moron and a person with no morals and would be considered an extremely evil man. Death should be of no penalty for any situation, no matter what degree it was. Death does not get fixed by death. Only living, forgiving, and imprisonment can do that, but that still doesn't fix it either way. To kill a living being that hasn't even begun living would be the act of someone who doesn't appreciate life, or would likely become a killer themselves one day most likely. Who knows what the kid could grow up to be? To ruin ones life is an act of severe selfishness and should not be tolerated by any means necessary.

I'm for both Abortion because i believe the mother should have the choice, and the Death Penalty because, i believe we need to have a punishment worthy of a horrible crime, if we didn't have the death penalty and only used prisons, people would go all out when they committed crimes because they would know, they're not actually going to pay for it.

I believe Abortion is wrong. It does not matter if you just found out your pregnet its still a child and It should have a chance to live in life just like you.

As for the death penalty I don't really believe in that cause I think they learn there lesson better in prison rather than dieing.

I personally think that abortions should be legal, but have some sort of screening process behind them. For example, a wealthy man knocks up a woman and decide they dont want to have the child. In this case they should be denied an abortion as the child is more likely to have a good life. Now if some 16 year old girl gets pregnant , the child is very detrimental to the rest of her young life, and should be allowed to have an abortion if she so chooses.

I am against abortion, but not the death penalty.  I do not believe it is right to have an abortion for any given reason as this means that a unborn child must die with no voice.  What about in cases of rape and life threatening complications?  I admit I do not have an answer for this other than this is what my own mother has taught me.

As for the death penalty, I actually jumped back and forth between yes and no.  I was against the death penalty about a year ago when I was studying for Sociology (introductory course).  I felt that the death penalty was a waste of millions of dollar and that it could be better spent on rehabilitation.  But I later learned in Sociology, and in other courses, that people usually do not change.  I believe it is the better option to execute someone for the safety of the community.  Now I should acknowledge that there are cases when the death penalty should not be used, but I leave that for the court system to decide.

Criminal Death to me is seriously a good idea to me.  Too many times I have read about prisoners in jail currently for more than two murders, more than life time with no bail, and rapists.  I flat disregard to others life and well being to me should be grounds for termination.  Most people are not aware of the fact that these free-loaders in jail with full life-time and more with no chance ever to get out have nothing to lose and could stir up trouble at any second for the fun of it knowing that it couldn't get any worse for them.  Also to this was the fact it is hard working tax payer's money that funds them sitting there day in and day out, providing food, a gym, basketball court yard and other activities.  It would be much easier on public funds to terminate all of them and any future ones from happening to help set an example of the seriousness of ending or ruining others lives.

Speaking of Ruining lives, was Abortion.  Right away it is any easy, yes it should be allowed under a proper system.  This point of people having parties and half the girls waking up pregnant is their own fault.  Speaking as one, I know how much fun a party can be, but I'm smart enough to stay home and keep a controller in my hands.  Yes, I will favor Abortion to remain legal, however have this one limited to avoid public abuse.  Example would be a rape case, just by having reported it would be enough for a doctor to allow the removal of it.  Several say Abortion should be ban, but what about the poor girls who get rapped at random and this is forced on them?  What about their call on this, they are the ones who carry this for 10 months.  Flat point end being that Abortion is to stay legal but limited to cases such as Rape and other such cases that could cause it again the girl's consent.
