I do it a little. I mostly use it for assignments now, though. It's an insane programming class and I'm not sure I'll go forward after this class unless I take something more basic. We just jumped into all sorts of stuff I'm unfamiliar with.

I've never used the command prompt and been successful. The only time I've ever used it was when programs were tied in with it, and I was required to type in a simple phrase. It is fun to type in random garbage and fill up the prompt, though.

I do sometimes, typing in random things to see if something will come up is awesome.

Tree is one of my favorites, because it hardly ever stops on my pc.

I do only because I have to rebuild the boot system on my computer every once in a while. My computer is getting old and I've got to fix it if I leave my computer off for very long. I plan to get a new computer soon but until then I get to load dos via a windows xp CD and rebuild the boot sector.

I will occasionaly try to use it,although rarely successful. I have used it for navigation like how they used to be used when my computer was messed up a long time ago.

My knowledge of Command Prompt is very limited, so I use it as a last resort. When I had a broken memory stick that I couldn't get to format correctly, I looked up the command online to do it. It still didn't work.

I've also used it when I get a virus that disables Task Manager. I used the command to try to open it, but that still didn't work.

Basically, I've used it, but never successfully.

EDIT: Literally a day or two after I posted this, I did something on Command Prompt that worked. I authenticated an .ocx file so I could use Advance Text.

Command Prompt is awesome, I'm pretty good with it! Making secret files, like changing the file extension to reveal a completely different program, is my favorite!

Wow, at school, I saw somebody put a flash drive into the computer, and opened up a CMD prompt, and he attacked the schools server and removed the website and filters.

I use the command prompt occasionally , usually it is to figure out an IP or ping an IP.  Using the standard command prompt brings back memories of learning DOS as a child, but I mostly use alternative programs instead.

The main problem I have with the command prompt is how glitchy it seems when trying to scroll the screen up. When I look at IP's there is usually a huge list but I can't scroll up very effectivly, because when I let off the mouse button the prompt goes right to the bottom.

There are many alternatives to the original CMD that have much better GUI's . My favourite is Take Command, but it has a trial period that won't allow you to use it once it runs out of time.

Yeah I use it a lot. I have a terrible Internet connection so I often have to ping my DNS or my gateway to see exactly where the fault is so I can get them to fix it when I call. Not so much anymore but I used to use a lot of programs that had command line switches in them, a big one being QEMU, which if you just double-clicked in Explorer did absolutely nothing, but if you went to the prompt and typed ->qemu -c hardrive.img -d discimg.iso would result in opening a virtual PC.

But I use a lot of terminal emulators in BSD systems. I love command line interfaces of programs like links (A "graphical" command line browser) and finch (A command line frontend for libpurple).

diabeticzach : I can teach you one command that will open up a whole new world of possibilities for you. If you don't it yet, try man It will blow your mind. You can man every application on your computer. $ man cp, and you'll learn that there are different flags you can use to copy things in different ways. $ man chmod to learn how to set your permissions. And one that everyone needs is $ man vi. If vi is not installed, you're missing out. Also check Suckless out (http://suckless.org/). It has a lot of really cool command line only programs. Check out the tools/ section for some really cool stuff.
