I always look through the whole first page, and usually the whole second page as well. I don't like seeing repeated threads, and I definitely don't want to create them.

Basically the same as hypermonkey. Unless I'm feeling reeeeeaaally lazy. I rarely make threads anyway.

Yeah, what I usually do is make good original ideas that will spark up a good amount of discussion... That is why I have only made a few amount of threads in the several months that I have been here... I usually check the first few pages of several forums, after thinking up of an idea before-hand. I make threads/polls based on a list that I create before-hand, therefore, creating a well thought-out thread that will get a lot of responces. Luckily, since the new Notifications change with only one notification per thread, I only get 23 notifications when I sign in and not 60 or something .

If I understand the question right then yes I do. If you dont read the forum you post to then youre most likely posting gibberish. Like if the forum is about what car was best for Batman and you logged on and said I like the Batmobile! I think I explained it well. Im a little drunk right now so yeah. there you go. Answer is yes!

Yeah, I always check before I make a new topic/poll, in case the topic has already been created before I thought of it.

Looked back at least 5 pages before I made my Castlevania video game poll.

I do sometimes, but if they are too big I tend not to. It is easier to just skim. Some people post uninteresting things so I will just skip to the bottom or not reply at all.

And, when I feel a bit lazy, I read only between the lines the really huge posts...

If you frequent a certain forum enough then of course you'll already know what's in it and whether you'd be making a duplicate thread. But for forums that you don't do into much you should always check the first 2 pages to see if a thread has been created about something you want to make a thread for. In some cases, you may even want to go back further if the dates of the last posts are fairly recent.

I check for pre-existing threads in forum I don't post in much before making a thread sort of automatically. The only time I've ever made a duplicate thread was at the other forum I go to, LS2.com. But literally hundreds of people post there every day and newly created threads can disappear from the first page in a matter of hours so I really have make a search for topics I want to make a thread about.
