I'm really bored with how my layout looks and some of the stuff on my profile, so I want to change it, but the html code is complicted and I don't know if I even CAN change some of what I want to change (like italicizing my real name and coloring it and junk). Any suggestions on what I can do?

Here's what all I want to change. Maybe you can tell me how to:

1. Expand the size of the border in my layout (to stretch horizontally across the page)
2. Italicize where it says "Link's Treasured Apprentice" but have it remain green like it is.
3. Change the size and font to my battle cry under the line below.

I can help you with 2 and 3 at least, all you need to do for 2 is go to where 'Link's Treasured Apprentice' is and before it, put a [i,] and after it put a [/i,], but don't put the commas in, those where to keep it from italicizing like this

and 3, you need to put a *font face="arial" color="black" size="3"* , but replace the *'s with > on the RIGHT and < at the LEFT. I can't show you here, but you have to put them like a closed diamond (shift . for >, and shift , for < here is it at a 6 if you were wondering how big it can get, it can get bigger though, but here is 6 for example, and whatnot.
Note that I bolded the 3 on the overall code for font size. this is because whatever number you put there (mine was 3, so I put 3) will be how big the text is, I think it is in millimeters, but I doubt it.

If you need any more help with numbers 2 or 3, then just ask, but you might need someone else for number 1. If you don't understand my instructions, then just ask (I kinda rushed them out) but If you want more "Professional" coding help, ask DarkHyren, he is the one who helped me code my layout.

Messing with code is so fun!

Though I'm still trying to expand my border and make that line longer. I've messed around with every "width" variable that was listed in the code, but no luck... Do I need to add another width variable then?

If you're talking about the border of your layout then that's impossible.

The border itself is an image, and as such it doesn't change shape when you change the width of the layout.


This is why you shouldn't use layouts where the whole image is one layout, makes it so that it has to use scrollbars and cannot stretch according to content.


Edit: Or you could always use CSS to stretch the background image, but it wouldn't look pretty.

I'm not exactly trying to get a new one, i just wanna expand the border of the one i have now to fit the sig i have. The layout i have now is the premade steaming electric one, so just look at that for the code. If you can help me expand my border size it'd mean a lot. Thanks.

The results won't be pretty if you use CSS to stretch it, and I highly doubt septembern will be able to pull it off good.

A.K.A Make a new layout from scratch or have someone make a new layout for you from scratch.

The results will be better.

I have no clue how to do code in order to make one from scratch. HTML is NOT my forte in any way. Lol. If I was taught, I'd be fine. But until then, I'm hoping JusTReaL comes through for me with a layout he said he'd work on. But I still need to learn the code just in case something needs changed in the future...

So far, Shane's the only one who actually taught me a bit of code, but now the only code I knowis how to do this . Lol if that even worked...

Learning HTML is pretty much just copying others work and editing it.

Then copy some more and edits some more.

Copy edit experiment. Eventually you start understanding what does what.


And how it works.

It's confusing as hell. And my brain always gets rattled whenever I see ~td~ and ~tr~ (they messed up when I did em normally, with the <>, it was epic Lol)... No clue what those are. And those arent the only ones either though... Idk. I guess I'll just have to wing it someday and hope that my profile goes back to normal.

Or maybe... Also how would I make a picture of my own become a background? Maybe that will help me down the line too...

Plus, the only HTML code I have access to really is the premade pics (that I know of, unless i can see other user's layout codes) so thats why i need to learn it all from cratch to do it from scratch.

That isn't true, it's really not that simple to add a pic or graphic to the background. I seriously just did what you said and nothing happened. I think you need to practice HTML some more or state what you mean better because those directions didn't help at all. Sorry.
