Halo: Reach

Halo: Reach
Overall: 8.7

This game is a really great game. It offered me over a year of entertainment, and could've offered me much more. Campaign-wise, the game does a very good job of telling the story of what happened on the planet Reach. I warn you, though. It's not a very happy story. I'm not going to spoil anything, but yeah, it's pretty sad. Multiplayer-wise, the game has 4 types of gameplay. Regular multiplayer, where you get to kill all of your friends like you used to in all the Halo games. They added a few new aspects to multiplayer, though. First off, there's a new game-type, Invasion, which puts Spartans against elites in a fast-paced objective game where you have to unlock two doors, and then capture a core. (Whether Spartans or elites do it depends on the map.) Second, they offered us this new feature, armor abilities. These include abilities such as Jet Pack, it's a jet pack, Evade, you quickly roll on the ground; this is good for escaping tight situations, Armor Lock, you quickly punch the ground and become invincible for a short time, and can also kill fast-moving vehicles if they run into you, Invisibility, do I need to explain invisibility? Sprint, you run, shield, you create a bubble shield that not only protects you, it heals you, and also your comrades. And finally, you can create a clone of yourself to confuse your enemy. There was a name for that, but unfortunately, I can't think of it right now. Another type of multiplayer is Firefight. You and at most 3 more people are put up against constant waves of Covenant forces. The game has many types of set-up. You can control what enemies come out, their transportation, your health, your guns, basically every aspect. You can even become an elite and fight for the Covenant. Third, is custom multiplayer. It's multiplayer that you as the player may set up. You can control what ordinance the players get, basically everything, except the map, which brings me to the final type of multiplayer. Forg... Mega Man X4

Mega Man X4
Overall: 9.5

This game is epic! Mega Man X4, everyone. This is definitely the most liked game out of Mega Man X4, 5, and 6, and for good reason. This is a great game! It's the only game out of the three to really have anime cutscenes. I am also particularly fond of this game. Other than a few minor things, I have literally no problems with this game. I could play it all day. The reason this game doesn't have a higher rank is because personally, I like Mega Man X5 more. I just think it's just a better game overall. But that's just me. Your opinion may differ. Plus, this game has given me a ton of laughs for a certain reason that I'll explain in the sound section. Haha. But overall, I give Mega Man X4, a great game, a 9.5. I think that's a fair rank.

Graphics: 8

This game's graphics aren't bad. They're not the best out of the four Mega Man games on the Playstation, but they're satisfactory. The animations are smooth, and so far I haven't found any problems with them. The graphics were just as good as the animations. They were smooth, they didn't have many problems, it was just a nice change. It was a major improvement from Mega Man X3. I don't think they could've done a better job moving the much-loved X series from the Super Nintendo to the Playstation. Personally, I do think its graphics are just slightly inferior to Mega Man X5's. But they're also better, because this game, like I said earlier, has anime cutscenes. Mega Man X5 doesn't. So for having superb animations, good graphics, and anime cutscenes, I give this game's overall graphics an 8.

Sound: 10

As I've said in my other reviews on Mega Man games... This game's sound is excellent. The sound in this game has made me laugh many times, too. Sadly, there's just one sound that I can't stand. In this game, my only complaint is the sound X makes when he dashes and jumps at the same time. It gets annoying when you play like me, because I use the dash button j... Read the rest of this Review
Mega Man X6

Mega Man X6
Overall: 8

This game is highly unliked by most people, and I can understand why. Some of the stages are frustratingly difficult. Some levels you can't just do extremely easily without a certain character or armor. But... I'll get to the difficulty later. Overall, unlike most, I actually kinda like this game. It really isn't too bad once you get down to it. I admit it has its share of frustrating parts, but it isn't really too bad. For being an alright overall game, I give this game an 8. It's really not that bad, guys.

Graphics: 8

In all honesty, I believe that this is the game's second best characteristic. It's slightly better than Mega Man X5's graphics. They were pretty awesome. Haha. I have never had a problem with a game because of its graphics, so in all honesty, I can't really complain. The graphics are much better than the 16-bit Super Nintendo graphics, but worse than the graphics of Mega Man X7 and Mega Man X8. So the graphics are in the middle, I'd say. They're really, again, like in my previous Mega Man X5 review, not the best graphics you'll ever see on the Playstation. So.. For being at a satisfying level of graphics for its time, I give Mega Man X6 an 8 for some pretty good graphics.

Sound: 9

I kinda regret saying that this is the game's best aspect, and yet I don't at the same time. This is the one feature that hasn't disappointed me once yet. Mega Man, overall has superb music. Each soundtrack the game had was either good or great. Personally, that's one thing about this game that I would never change. It's perfect the way it is. The reason the sound in this game is not a perfect 10 is because of this... Japanese voice actors. I don't know what they were thinking when releasing this game in the U.S.A and Europe with Japanese voice actors. None of us can understand what they were saying. I say that's just lazy developing techniques. First of all, it probably isn't too hard to just replace the p... Read the rest of this Review

Mega Man X5
Overall: 9.4

Let's be realistic. The Mega Man X series, not counting the first one, is the scapegoat of the Mega Man franchise. The classic series made up for its repetitiveness for being so classic, and so casual, and just a fun series. Mega Man X, on the other hand, had little effort towards the story. And because of the game being newer, and the fact that better stories were starting to develope, this series has no excuses for its repetitive story. As for Mega Man X5, it's my favorite game in the series. Despite its obvious storyline in some instances, the gameplay and most definitely the music made up for it. It added some new features from Mega Man X4 that I'll get to later. For being a good game, despite its story, Mega Man X5 gets a 9.4.

Graphics: 8

The graphics of this game aren't the best for the playstation, but they are good nonetheless. The colorful, unique environments are fun, plus, they added a new feature to each level, the Sigma Virus, it's a small purple ghost-like enemy that will chase you. You cannot kill it without a special type of weapon. Some of the graphics are so complicated that they might make you sick, just a warning. But it's not something to get worked up about. The graphics of this game were pretty good for its time, and I wouldn't change them. They're slightly better than Mega Man X4's. The animation is as smooth as any Mega Man or Mega Man X game. Just right. Why fix what isn't broken, am I right? For having smooth animations and satisfactory graphics, this game gets an 8.

Sound: 10

Let me start with the sound effects of this game. They're excellent. The sounds you make when you shoot, then sounds when you jump, when you die, all of it, are just perfect. If I were making this series, I'd put those sounds in Mega Man X4, 5, and 6. They fit perfectly. I like them tons more than Mega Man X4's. Mega Man X4's got extremely annoying at times. Let me give you a perfect example. Everyo... Read the rest of this Review
Mega Man 4

Mega Man 4
Overall: 9.9

Mega Man 4. The name echoes in my brain when I say it. I'll be honest with you guys. I could not beat this game to save my life as a kid, and I still couldn't beat it until after 12 years. Mega Man 4. In my opinion, even above Mega Man 1,2, and 3, I still find Mega Man 4 to be the hardest game of the series. Well- The robot masters, I mean. But this is the game that got me hooked on the Mega Man series. It's a really fun game, and despite its grueling difficulty, it is pretty addicting. And the levels have extremely clever designs. Capcom brings Mega Man back a fourth time, and the game is just as impressing as the first three. They added even more cool tricks that Mega Man can perform than the first three. I'll explain some of those later. Overall, and due to the awesome gameplay, the unique bosses, and the good graphics of the time, but sadly, the gameplay, being so hard only deteriorates the game's addictiveness by a little. So this game gets a 9.9.

Graphics: 8

What can I say? It's Mega Man. The graphics from the first 3 games really haven't changed much. But then again, why fix what isn't broken? Right? Like I said, the game's graphics are just as good as the others, slightly better. The enemies have more patterns that the first game, and the game has a bit more smooth animations, in my opinion. A new ability added to the game, the charge beam, is a great new addition, it makes your original Mega buster just a bit more powerful, making the infamous bosses just that much easier. But it seems the bosses also got upgrades. They seem just as hard or even harder than the previous installments. But anyways, due to it being literally almost identical to the other Mega Man games, and also due to the smooth animations and good graphics, Mega Man 4's graphics get an 8.

Sound: 10

Capcom has always been great with music. Especially in any Mega Man game. This game doesn't change my opinion of their great tal... Read the rest of this Review
Super Metroid

Super Metroid
Overall: 10

Super Metroid. All I need to say. I'm sure many of you have played the game, and I'm sure many of you can agree. It's one of the best games of all time. If not that, then one of the best on the Super Nintendo. Its great gameplay mixed with its alien world, completed with the fitting music for each area that you're in makes the game perfectly balanced with its difficulty, and its lone-wolf story. That's right, newcomers to the game. Samus is completely alone in this game like most other Metroid games. Due to the game's great balancing of difficulty, I give Super Metroid a 10.

Graphics: 10

This game has very great graphics for the Super Nintendo. For one, a new feature they added, instead of the previous 2 games, you can now shoot in 8 directions! Plus the graphics of the speed booster ability? When I first played the game, or watched my brother play through it as a child, the game's graphics blew my mind. I thought this game was the coolest thing ever. And still today, I feel the same way towards it. Super Metroid has great graphics for the SNES, Graphics get a 10 for the great gameplay setup compared to the other 2 in the series, and the fact that it was rare to find a shooting game where you could shoot in more than 2 directions.

Sound: 10

This game's sound was very good. Let me start with the sounds themselves. Each time you killed an enemy, shot with the ice beam, or jumped, it'd make the perfect sound effect for each sound. Some of these sounds I found satisfying. Like this new ability they added, the Super Missile, when you shoot at an enemy, it makes a very satisfying sound when the enemy explodes. Go ahead and test that. The music of this game was very fitting for each area that you were in. Most of the music is very catchy, and you'll end up catching yourself humming them later after you've played the game. Not only that, the music was very fitting for the mood of the game itself, there's t... Read the rest of this Review

Megaman Zero 3 Review
Overall: 9.7

This is my personal favorite game in the Mega-man Zero series. I believe the story is the best out of all four. You're going to love this game. This is the game where things get the most intense, in my opinion. Not only that, this game is extremely addictive, and you'll absolutely love using your recoil rod, and your Z-saber to get through this game. You'll fall in love with the better game-play, better story, more depth, and the great music.

Graphics: 9

This game's graphics were much better than the previous games' graphics. Inticreates really worked hard on this game. The game-play is smooth, the animation is right, and the environment is very neat and eccentric in each stage. Some of the time, you'll wonder what it is you're looking at in the background of each stage. Personally, I give this game's graphics a 9 for much better quality.

Sound: 10

In my opinion, this game's sound is perfect. The music in each stage is addictive to listen to, and will definitely get stuck in your head. The sounds the characters make are just as good as the other two games in the series, possibly better. The music and the sounds will make this game that much better. You'll love the sound quality of this game. Overall, I give this game's sound a huge thumbs up for great quality.

Addictiveness: 9

This game is even more addictive than the first two. Instead of having to spend time finding cyber elves, like in the first two, you find these new things called secret disks, which contain various things from information, to cyber elves. You'll play through this game over and over and not get sick of it. The storyline adds to the addictiveness, because it's very intense. I give addictiveness a 9 for a great game!

Story: 10

I think this story is also perfect. It has many plot twists, and is very addictive, and memorable. The characters are more developed in this game than any of th... Read the rest of this Review

Megaman Zero 2 Review
Overall: 9.4

I like this game much more than Mega-man Zero 1. The storyline is engaging, the graphics are about as good as the first one, the sound is much better, this game is just as addictive as the first one, if not, more. This game is a little bit easier, too. Overall, this game gets a thumbs up.

Graphics: 7

The graphics in this game are as good or slightly better than the first one. The animation is still very smooth, the environments are just as good as the first game's graphics. Only, in this game there's more environments to explore. The graphics are pretty good, but not the best.

Sound: 9

The sound in this game is much better than the sound in the first one. They have much better, much less repetitive music in each stage, and songs only repeat in only a couple stages. Other than that, each stage has its own song. The sounds the characters make are just as good as the first. They added many new enemies, and sounds, making the sound quality of this game extremely good, in my opinion.

Addictiveness: 9

This game is very fun to play. You'll love to go through and beat all the bosses, and engage into the storyline. You won't want to stop until you've completed the entire game. Overall, the game's addictiveness is very high.

Story: 9

This game's storyline is a lot better than the first game's, in my opinion. It's much more engaging, and has more plot twists. Some of them, completely unexpected. At times, you have no idea where this game is going. The characters get more developed in this game, too. They have distinct personalities each very different from one another. And there's many more characters you can go talk to, and they can give you advice, and stuff like that. And, like the first game, I like how this game leads into the third one. The storyline gets a 9 from me.

Depth: 8

You'll spend a little more time on this game than the first g... Read the rest of this Review

Megaman Zero Review
Overall: 9

This game is overall, a great game. I think you will enjoy playing through it a few times, and I do believe that you will play through it at least once. You'll almost immediately get into it, in my opinion. I like the new features they've added, for instance, you can choose from different weapons in this game, unlike previous games where you could only use the Mega-buster, or the Z-saber. This game let's you choose between 4 weapons, and you can change them at any time during game-play. But overall, this game is a great game, like I said.

Graphics: 7

The graphics of this game are adequate. They're not the best graphics I've ever seen on the GBA, but they're okay. I believe you'll like the neat environments and the smooth animation. Inticreates (The creators of the Mega-man Zero series) did a pretty good job with this game's graphics. I personally didn't like them all too much. But that's just me. You may like them a lot. Overall, this game's graphics are pretty good. Inticreates didn't do a bad job.

Sound: 6

I personally didn't like the sound too much in this game. The songs were repetitive, and they were played again in different stages. I did, however, like the sounds that were made that weren't the music. Such as the sounds of your Z-buster. They were pretty good. But like I said, the music in this game was too repetitive, and they put the same songs in different stages. But you may feel differently about this game's sound. I personally found it to annoying. But overall, this game's sound is not bad.

Addictiveness: 8

I think you'll probably play through this game a couple times. Especially since they added a new feature. You can restart the game with all the items you had at the end of the game, except certain items, making you unstoppable. The storyline itself will make you want to play through it a few times, because this game has a good storyline. But overall, this game'... Read the rest of this Review
