Asteroids Review
In November of 1979, Atari released the arcade game known as Astroids, a game where you shoot and blow up asteroids and some flying saucers. The game was extremely successful, earning Atari an estimated $150 million. Since this is such a well known arcade classic, I've decided to review it.

Graphics: 7/10 In Asteroids, the background is black and the edges of the asteroids, your spaceship, and the flying saucers are white. For a game made in the 70's, the game has good graphics so I'm giving this category a 7.

Sound: 10/10 The music in asteroids gets more and more intense as you get closer to destroying all the asteroids. When you start the level, you hear a slow DUN... DUN... DUN sound, but this sound starts speeding up as you get closer to completing it, and eventually, this sound gets much faster and gets extremely intense as the asteroids start moving faster and become harder to hit. Out of all the 70s arcade games I've played, Asteroids definitely has the best and most intense music. For this reason, I'm giving the sound a 10.

Addictiveness: 10/10 Asteroids is one of the most addicting arcade games I've ever played. Before I played this game, I never thought that I'd enjoy shooting asteroids as much as I do when playing this game. Even though the game can get extremely tough at times, shooting those asteroids and flying saucers never gets old, therefore, I'm giving the addictiveness a 10.

Story: N/A Asteroids doesn't have a story, therefore I'm leaving this category blank.

Depth: 1/10 Asteroids has very little depth. You blow up a bunch of asteroids and once they've been completely destroyed, you move onto the next level. That's all there is too it. Asteroids was meant to have addictive gameplay, not depth. For these reasons, I'm giving the depth a 1.

Difficulty: 10/10 At first glance, Asteroids may not seem like a super hard game, but once you start playing, you'll realize that this game is extremely hard. To me, asteroids is even tougher than a lot of NES games. When you shoot an asteroid, it'll break into several pieces, and they'll fly faster than it previously did. Also, whenever you move your ship, it'll become very hard to stop it, which can make it very easy to run into other asteroids. If you stay still though, you'll be a sitting duck and the asteroids will eventually run into you, even if you're a good shooter. To make things even worse, occasionally a flying saucer will fly on the screen and start shooting at you. So not only do you need to avoid the asteroids. All these aspects make Asteroids an extremely difficult and intense game that will truly test what you're made of. For these reasons, I'm giving the difficulty a 10.

Overall Score: 8.8/10 If you've never played Asteroids before, I highly suggest you try it out. With intense music, extremely addictive gameplay, and a great amount of difficulty, Asteroids is one of the best arcade games ever made. I'd recommend it to anyone looking for a great arcade game to play that's also extremely tough. I give the overall score of Asteroids an 8.8/10.

 i wasn't even around for asteroids when it first came out, but i have played an asteroids machine before. the most striking aspect of playing the real thing are the visuals: the vector lines glow, and the player projectiles are really bright! it's cool :)

 If I close my eyes I'm back in the bowling alley I first played this in. The audio on the asteroid explosions was the best.
