For the younger Pokémon fans who loved  Pokémon Leafgreen Version, this is the classic old original version that Pokémon Leafgreen was based off of which is called Pocket Monsters Green version. It was exclusively released only in Japan along side Pokémon Red, and is believed to be the first Pokémon game ever.In addiction Pocket Monster's Green Version contains all  generation one Pokémon. In Pocket Monster's Green Version, Mewtwo's cave is accessible as soon as you beat the Elite four, the mew glitch can be preformed in this version, and Moltres is found in Victory Road instead of on Island 2 on Mt Ember in Pokémon Leafgreen. Also this game is not translated in English so it all the dialog is Japanese so basic knowledge of Pokémon is necessary to some what understand Pokémon moves, names, items etc.

The graphics portrayed in Pocket Monster's Green version are rather basic and only moderately detailed. There is no background scenery during Pokémon battle scene's.PokeMon sprites  are very detailed when facing them in a battle but when your the trainer who is battling then the pixels on the Pokémon is a little distorted. The color quality is at the bare minimum  standard, the towns in the game are different colors but what ever color the town is, everything in that town is that color, buildings and your character, bodies of water, literally everything.

The Sound heard in Pocket Monsters Green Version is excellent. The Pokémon do have there own specific and made just for them Pokémon cries. When Pokémon faint the sounds"cries" they make can be clearly heard. Each town has it's own soundtrack "song" that can be heard  nicely and is clean cut quality.

What is the addictiveness of Pocket Monsters Green version you ask?, well there is one factor  that could cause a low rating in this category. That one factor that wouldn't necessary make fan's of the franchise not want to play this version again is the fact that it's not translated into English. But if you are familiar with the franchise and Pokémon statuses, moves, items and etc you can navigate through the game rather easily. One of the main contributing reason's why I come back to play this version now and again is because it is one of the two first Pokémon games to ever come out and any fan of the franchise should enjoy coming back and playing on of the two games that kicked off the franchise all together.

The story of Pocket Monsters Green Version starts off like mostly any game in the Pokémon franchise, you are a young 12 year old male(you can only be male in this version) starting off his journey. You awaken in a little town called Pallet town and you get your starting Pokémon from Professor Oak after you blindly walk into a field of grass without a Pokémon. After you head into the next town and get the parcel for the Professor he gives you your Pokedex and you set of on your journey to become a Pokémon master. You will face many challenges on your journey and meet many legendary Pokémon. Your mission and main purpose is to evolve and raise your Pokémon so that way you can take on gym leaders as well as the incredible group of trainers know as the Elite four, while working towards that goal there is a sinister evil organization in the works of Kanto(the region in the game where you are at) that are hell bent on capturing and enslaving Pokémon and using them for evil purposes and it's up to you to defeat the head of this organization.

How much "depth" is in Pocket Monsters Green Version you ask?, well the game doesn't take very long to beat at all.Pocket Monsters Green Version has a moderate amount of activities to do in game, like playing slots for coins in the game corner, or going to the safari zone and capturing Pokémon you wouldn't find in to many other areas in the game(Pokémon like dratini) or fishing in basically any bodies of water, both large and small. The game is at a standard level map proportion wise, there are 10 towns you can go to with plenty of routes in between towns.

How difficult is Pocket Monster's Green Version?, well Pocket Monster's Green Version isn't very difficult at all if your Pokémon team is diverse in type. The levels of the Pokémon even in the elite four  are rather low compared to levels in the newer games, a team of level 45's-55 could beat the elite four. Gym battles are easier as well compared to newer game gym battles.Gym leaders Pokémon levels are lower than what you would expect/seen in newer games in the franchise for you newer game Pokémon fans. The games A.I is predictable and can easily be beat.

Overall Pocket Monster's Green Version is a game with relaxed difficulty, moderately acceptable graphics and excellent sound. Although I imagine it's not very appealing  as compared to newer games in the franchise, but  it is worth the moderate price of Viz it costs to play because its a chance to play the game that started the Pokémon franchise.

yoshirulez! 05-13-13 - 02:58 AM
this game has been mislabeled. this is pokemon green. instead of pokemon blue and red they had green and red. it is not pirated. so it should be fixed.

pieman2005 01-15-13 - 01:49 PM
If the walking isn't working, play the plugin version or double click and fix your controls. Also, Ekans does not have a Bellsprout head.. It's not a glitch, that's how his original Green sprite looked!

the mew glitch works on all the generation one games. try it!
