Pocket Monsters(Pokemon) Green   Crimson Pheonix
I call it Pocket Monsters (since it was exclusively released in Japan) but for the sake of most United state users I'll call it Pokémon. In Pokémon Green the graphics are plain and  not very descriptive at all. There is no battle area background during Pokémon battle's . The Pokémon sprites  are very detailed when the games camera is facing the opposite Pokémon towards your own in a battle but when your the trainer who is battling then the pixels on the Pokémon is a little distorted (and you really can't make it if its a Pokémon or a deformed blob). Also the Pokémon have this thin black almost pencil like outline to them, which is great  to me because it makes the Pokémon look hand drawn(me loving anime) but this not anime this is a game which means the pencil like outline is unwanted and doesn't add to the games graphics making it graphic wise a "poor"experience. There is virtually no color in the game, which makes the game dull at times and kind of bland.  The only bit of color you gaze your eyes on in the game are the towns but there's a catch, the towns in the game are different colors but what ever color the town is, everything in that town is that color which really isn't creative or makes for a nice fantasy experience.
The sound in the game is alright, fairly decent although it could have used more sound tracks, but hey at least we have Pokémon cries that are individualized  and don't play the same sound for each Pokémon or sound tracks (that play one song)in an ever going loop.
There really is only one reason why I played this mostly all day, because it is the first Pokémon game ever to be published, released etc. (really whatever you want to call it). This reason alone is the only reason I pushed myself in playing it for half the day.
The story really didn't surprise me (because If you played Firered or Leafgreen you already know how the story of the Kanto region goes) but for arguments sake lets say you the reader doesn't know. The story roughly begins like ,your a 12 year old male(you can only be male, sorry ladies) starting off his journey. You're  in a town called Pallet town and you get your  first Pokémon today from Professor Oak after you walk into a field of grass without a Pokémon. After you head into the next town and get the parcel from the market for the Professor he gives you your Pokedex and you set of on your journey to become a Pokémon trainer...(well master). The purpose of the game evolve and raise your Pokémon so that way you can take on gym leaders as well as the Elite four.
If your looking for a lengthy game you have (somewhat) stumbled into  the right place. Map wise the game is somewhat large with plenty to do. You could play slots for coins in the game corner(not sure why Gamefreak would put gambling in a kids game), or  you could go to the safari zone and capture Pokémon you can't find in other areas or you just take an easy day and live the life of a fisherman and go fishing in basically any of the bodies of water you come across like a lake or ocean or pound.
Sad to say for you newer generation Pokémon fans, the games not really difficult "hard". Raising Pokémon is a lot easier with your handy space bar (or whatever you made your speed button be, so power raising (level raising) is easier. And honesty it's the classic Pokémon games like this one that reminds you just how easy Pokémon used to be. In the never generations the elite four has like level 61+ in this you could really blow through the elite four like any other common trainer with lower to mid level 50's if you have a well balanced team or your Pokémon has the type advantage over your opponent.
Pokémon Green overall takes Pokémon fans back to a simpler time in the Pokémon franchise where battles were easier, and raising your Pokémon was less of a challenge. The game really reflects on the development in the franchise since this  games release. I would recommend this game to anyone who enjoys  and is looking for a(n) easier pace  Pokémon game and for the Pokémon fans who just want to peak at how the franchise started.
Hope you enjoyed the review

For the younger Pokémon fans who loved  Pokémon Leafgreen Version, this is the classic old original version that Pokémon Leafgreen was based off of which is called Pocket Monsters Green version. It was exclusively released only in Japan along side Pokémon Red, and is believed to be the first Pokémon game ever.In addiction Pocket Monster's Green Version contains all  generation one Pokémon. In Pocket Monster's Green Version, Mewtwo's cave is accessible as soon as you beat the Elite four, the mew glitch can be preformed in this version, and Moltres is found in Victory Road instead of on Island 2 on Mt Ember in Pokémon Leafgreen. Also this game is not translated in English so it all the dialog is Japanese so basic knowledge of Pokémon is necessary to some what understand Pokémon moves, names, items etc.
The graphics portrayed in Pocket Monster's Green version are rather basic and only moderately detailed. There is no background scenery during Pokémon battle scene's.PokeMon sprites  are very detailed when facing them in a battle but when your the trainer who is battling then the pixels on the Pokémon is a little distorted. The color quality is at the bare minimum  standard, the towns in the game are different colors but what ever color the town is, everything in that town is that color, buildings and your character, bodies of water, literally everything.

The Sound heard in Pocket Monsters Green Version is excellent. The Pokémon do have there own specific and made just for them Pokémon cries. When Pokémon faint the sounds"cries" they make can be clearly heard. Each town has it's own soundtrack "song" that can be heard  nicely and is clean cut quality.
What is the addictiveness of Pocket Monsters Green version you ask?, well there is one factor  that could cause a low rating in this category. That one factor that wouldn't necessary make fan's of the franchise not want to play this version again is the fact that it's not translated into English. But if you are familiar with the franchise and Pokémon statuses, moves, items and etc you can navigate through the game rather easily. One of the main contributing reason's why I come back to play this version now and again is because it is one of the two first Pokémon games to ever come out and any fan of the franchise should enjoy coming back and playing on of the two games that kicked off the franchise all together.
The story of Pocket Monsters Green Version starts off like mostly any game in the Pokémon franchise, you are a young 12 year old male(you can only be male in this version) starting off his journey. You awaken in a little town called Pallet town and you get your starting Pokémon from Professor Oak after you blindly walk into a field of grass without a Pokémon. After you head into the next town and get the parcel for the Professor he gives you your Pokedex and you set of on your journey to become a Pokémon master. You will face many challenges on your journey and meet many legendary Pokémon. Your mission and main purpose is to evolve and raise your Pokémon so that way you can take on gym leaders as well as the incredible group of trainers know as the Elite four, while working towards that goal there is a sinister evil organization in the works of Kanto(the region in the game where you are at) that are hell bent on capturing and enslaving Pokémon and using them for evil purposes and it's up to you to defeat the head of this organization.
How much "depth" is in Pocket Monsters Green Version you ask?, well the game doesn't take very long to beat at all.Pocket Monsters Green Version has a moderate amount of activities to do in game, like playing slots for coins in the game corner, or going to the safari zone and capturing Pokémon you wouldn't find in to many other areas in the game(Pokémon like dratini) or fishing in basically any bodies of water, both large and small. The game is at a standard level map proportion wise, there are 10 towns you can go to with plenty of routes in between towns.
How difficult is Pocket Monster's Green Version?, well Pocket Monster's Green Version isn't very difficult at all if your Pokémon team is diverse in type. The levels of the Pokémon even in the elite four  are rather low compared to levels in the newer games, a team of level 45's-55 could beat the elite four. Gym battles are easier as well compared to newer game gym battles.Gym leaders Pokémon levels are lower than what you would expect/seen in newer games in the franchise for you newer game Pokémon fans. The games A.I is predictable and can easily be beat.
Overall Pocket Monster's Green Version is a game with relaxed difficulty, moderately acceptable graphics and excellent sound. Although I imagine it's not very appealing  as compared to newer games in the franchise, but  it is worth the moderate price of Viz it costs to play because its a chance to play the game that started the Pokémon franchise.

Play the original Pokemon on Vizzed   Postman3
How does anybody get this thing started? As soon as Oak stops talking, you can only move in one direction.
The above was my review for the middle emulator. Kind of anti-climactic, isn't it? The below review is for the one on the right which works much better in my opinion.
Graphics
This is an early version of Pokémon Blue so it looks similar. The intro isn't Gengar versus Jigglypuff. It is Gengar versus Nidorino like in Pokémon Red. The Pokémon images are from the earliest stages of release so they look a bit different. Seeing them as they are here is an experience not to pass up. The start screen features a Bulbasaur as the first Pokémon. If you wait there long enough, you will see even Pikachu looks different (chubbier). This was before the shift to color so everything is gray and white. The flowers on the ground make back and forth movements rather than circular ones. This is the least advanced Pokémon you will ever play, but there is some beauty in going back to the very start.
Game play
Before you start the game, you can, set the dialog speed to quick, common or slow, choose to view or pass the fighting cartoons and select rule of competition (replace or circle?). Warnings: A) In battle, you must press a or b a few extra times to get the entire extra dialog finished with. B) When you save the state, it may not always work. C) Due to an emulator issue, the game will temporarily freeze for a second or two at random points during the game. Other than that, the game play seems the same as any other Pokémon for Game Boy and functions quite fluidly. Special note: Trading for Farfetch'd in Vermilion City is a good way to get your game frozen so avoid that one.
Dialog
Aochider is Oak's Japanese name. People call him Dr. Pet. The grammar is terrible but you can usually take meaning from the words.
Goods = Items                  Pet = Pokémon                 Contest = Battle
Wound Cure = Potion              Shado = Charmander     Falls down = faint
Monster Ball = Poke ball        Torto = Squirtle        Hasn't hit home = miss
Detoxicate Cure = Antidote     Incon = Bulbasaur          Go all out = Tackle
Burning Cure = Burn Heal      Bobo = Pidgey                 Chirps = Growl
Awake Cure = Awakening      Kelar = Ratatta               Parasite = Leech Seed
Skill Machine = TM                   Beetl = Weedle            Hit Home! = Critical Hit!
Super Ball = Great Ball           Catap = Caterpie             Spin silk = String Shot
Insecticide = Repel                 Silip = Drowzee                Beat = Pound
Sound
The first sound you hear when you turn it on is a little off. I am talking about the star going through the logo sound effect. Every other sound in this version is the same as all the other Pokémon versions for Game Boy.
Addictiveness
This is the one Pokémon game that I actually can put down after just an hour or two. I would mark the addictiveness factor low. I will probably play again when the saving issues have had time to clear up.
Difficulty
The hardness of the game is where it gets much of its points. With game play issues (like saving) and irritating dialog, this one is the hardest Pokémon game I have yet encountered. Just to get through a battle is a challenge.
Depth
This is supposedly a full-length Pokémon adventure. Those take a minimum 60 hours to play through the complete storyline in my experience.
Summary
Not nearly the best game on Vizzed, but fun none the less. If you are in the market for the earliest of Pokémon versions, look no further because you have found it. Manufactured in Japan with the best technology made available in the 90's to the creators of Pokémon. Have fun!

pokemon green review   QueenMewthree
Pokémon green I believe is the first Pokémon game. Only released in Japan this version was translated to English. I heard that Pokémon green did not sell well in Japan I'm not sure if its true but if the original Pokémon greens grammar is anything like the translation I know why it did not sell well. The grammar is so bad in this game that it makes it harder to play. Either the person who did the translation or Nintendo was lazy and did not care. I'm sure it was the person who did the translation as all of the other Nintendo Pokémon games are awesome.
graphics where good for its time. (of course over the years we have gotten better at making games and will continue to do so but considering that Pokémon green was the first Pokémon game ever I find the graphics surprising good I will rate the graphics a seven)
when you play this game the old sounds being up good memories of a time long gone. The classic sounds are the same as Pokémon red and Pokémon blue making the over all game play much better. I will rate the sound for this game a nine.
addictiveness... yes I would play this game again but not as much as some other the other Pokémon games. Mostly because of the poor grammar and name changes for Pokémon people and towns. As much as a love Pokémon I can sadly only give this game a six.
The story is good but not great like the other games. Once again the poor grammar makes it very hard to keep track of a story. A part from the poor grammar the story is just like Pokémon red and Pokémon blue and is the very classic kanto tale. If nor for the poor grammar I would have given this game a seven but because of the poor grammar I will only give this game a six.
Depth the game was pretty big for its time though not quite as big as Pokémon red and Pokémon blue. A Pokémon's nickname could only have five spaces for letters while I believe Pokémon red and Pokémon blue has about eight I will have to look into that later. Other then that the game has so much to offer though Pokémon red and Pokémon blue have a bit more then Pokémon green. I will rate the depth of this game a six
Difficulty of the game is so. Not to hard not to easy at least for me. The beginning is always a bit hard for every Pokémon game and Pokémon green is no different. This is because all of your Pokémon are at such low levels you must work very hard to build your levels and make a great team. When you get a great team ( about around the third gym leader ) the game becomes a lot easier. I will rate this games difficulty a six like most other Pokémon games
All in all most Pokémon games are great and so is Pokémon green. Its just not as great as Pokémon red or Pokémon blue. If you are trying a old Pokémon game for the first time I would say try Pokémon red Pokémon blue or even Pokémon yellow. Pokémon green is for hard core fans who wish  to play all the good Pokémon games from the past. I really hope you like my review! Thank you for reading!

Pokemon Green Version Review   XxEzraxX
Pokémon Green Version, when this game was released in America was changed to have a Blastiose on the front and was affectionately called Pokémon Blue Version. However, in Japan this game was all the rage. Although it is the same as blue version, if you play this game it is not hard to see why so many Japanese kids loved the game. It is a fun adventure game. Being one of the original copies of the game I gave this a 10. It runs just the same as blue version, with just a few sprite differences.
For the graphics I gave a 10 because nothing was really changed, however in America when blue and red were released they changed the Pokémon sprites because they felt the original games Pokémon looked strange. I think however that a lot of the original sprites in the Japanese Red and Green look a lot better than what they gave us. But that is just my opinion. The one thing that really does bother me with the game is the translation, it is just terrible. It bothered me so much that I just played it in Japanese instead. I loved it. I have been starting to play a lot of my games in Japanese because of Green.
The sounds I gave a 10 as well, again nothing different between the Japanese and American versions. Except, Lavender Town (I know, I know it is about to turn all creepypasta right?). In Japan the music for Lavender Town had a few frequencies that were later replaced because they put a strain on the speakers and gave some kids headaches and nausea. A lot of people heard about this and started the creepypasta saying that because of the frequencies a bunch of kids in Japan committed suicide. This is just not true, and majorly ridiculous don't you think Nintendo and Gamefreak would have been in a lot of trouble for that?
Now on to the addictiveness of the game, I gave that a 10. As soon I got the Japanese version up and running I just couldn't put it down I played all day and night. I loved it, I was working really hard on my party and eventually got my Dragonite :P Anyway, it is super fun and again nothing to different from Blue version (besides that one bit of sound and sprite differences). There was something I was a little confused with though, in the manga of Pokémon Green was a girl so why don't you get to play as a girl (Same for Yellow, only everybody thought Yellow was a boy at first because of the hat)?
I didn't bother to rate the story, considering just like Red, Blue and Yellow this game doesn't actually have a set story. You just go from town to town collecting Gym Badges and catching as many Pokémon as you can to become a Pokémon Master. The Depth and Difficulty of the game I gave a 5 because it is not very long once you start collecting your badges and it is really not hard at all. Especially if you level up high enough.
So I loved the game, it was really good. I recommend it, unless the translation bothers you then I would just play it in Japanese. But it may not bother a lot of, some of you may even find comedy in it. I hope you have a great adventure in Green version and that you recommend it to all of your friends, it is an original and it is a lot of fun.

Pocket Monsters Green version(in English Pokemon green version)   marcus047
Well here it is the first ever pocket monster game (in English its translated to Pokémon). This game  was only released in Japan, so there was no official translated version so that's why the translation is kinda poor in this. If you are new to Pokémon franchise this hack will confuse you because the Pokémon moves and items from the market and names of the Pokémon  are  translated to uncommon/ old  English, and Pokémon names are still in Japanese so the Pokémon names are not translated.
Graphics: the graphics  are very good for there time, they are graphics you would expect from a Game Boy platform based game, there are no glitches/game freezes in this so for graphics I gave it a 10 out of 10.
Sound: the sound is also what you would expect from a game based/made for  the Game Boy, Pokémon cries are what they are suppose to be like, there are no sound errors or sound going out in this so I gave it a 10 out of a 10.
Addictiveness: I gave it a 8 out of 10,  because this is the first Pokémon game ever and its easily  one of the best for replay value because its a classic.
Story: i gave a 8 out of 10, because its not that long and there is virtually nothing left to do after you beat the elite 4 except catch mewtwo, which by the way you don't need the national pokedex to gain access to his cave after you beat the elite 4.
Depth: I gave a 7 out of 10, because the games not that big/open world, you can catch mostly all the legends after you get the hm surf, and there's not much to do after that.
Difficulty: I gave a 7 out of 10, because it wasn't very hard at all to beat, with this game you wouldn't really play it for the challenge, you would play it for its originality, and to say aye I beat the first game out of the whole Pokémon franchise.
Overall: so overall I gave this game a 9.5 out of 10, because its a classic, quality game that shows Pokémon in its good'old day's in its prime.

What I Know About This Game
Pokemon Green was released February 1996 in Japan , It was released only in Japan not in North America and Europe . It was made for the Game Boy ( not color or Advanced ) . The Developer of Pokemon Green was Game Freak and the Publisher was Nintendo . Also everyone knows that Pokemon Green is a Role Playing Game ( RPG ) because mainly every pokemon game is a RPG game .

Sounds 8 / 10
Addictiveness 5 / 10
Story 7 / 10
Depth 7 / 10
Difficulty 4 / 10
Overall
To be or not be that this game is fairly good . Pokemo Green is usually the least played game . More People play Pokemon Red / Blue / Yellow because there more fun and less boring at times . I'm trying to Bad mouth this game , but i can't say that this game perfect . So anyway This game is good at times .
Graphics
Pokemon Green has graphics that makes it look messed up a little , but compare to Red / Blue they're basically the same . Well i mainly expect that graphics are like this because like evey game made for the Game Boy the graphics will most likely .
Sounds
Pokemon Green is the first pokemon game , so the sounds and / or are old but original . The first sounds and / or Music of pokemon are the best because it brings back memories of when you first played this game on vizzed . You can't actually know the music from a long time ago like 13 years ago because this game was only released in Japan luckly we have Pokemon Red / Blue Version .
Addictiveness
This game is not very addictive nor will it ever . I can never play this game for a long time because its a little bit boring . I only play this game about 5 minutes then play another , also I mainly ever play this game so often . I could play Pokemon Green once or twice a month because again its a little bit boring . Also i bet a lot you will only game for like few minutes and go to another game ,
Story
Pokemon Green has the same story like every pokemon game just with difficult plots . But let me tell the story in my way . As you begin your adventure as Trainer Red you will encounter different pokemon and Trainers . You will have to Defeat Different Gym Leaders to earn your Badges to Become a pokemon master . But Beware , you will encounter enemies and possible perils .
Depth
The game has good Depth . Let me explain in a way that i think is go for men . Pokemon Green offers a lot , From Defeating Trainers and Catching Pokemon , To Beating Gym leaders , Training your Pokemon and Becoming a pokemon master by Defeating the Pokemon League .
Difficulty
Pokemon Green Version has fair amount of Difficulty . Some spots in the game are kind of hard to get through . Like the Seafoam Islands and The Pokemon Mansion , also maybe Mt . Moon if you never played the game . But if this game didn't have a difficulty it would be way boring . Any way the game is not that boring at times .
So thats the end of my game reviews . I hope you like my game review and have a great day .

If the walking isn't working, play the plugin version or double click and fix your controls. Also, Ekans does not have a Bellsprout head.. It's not a glitch, that's how his original Green sprite looked!

We prioritize the community over the site profits.  This is why we avoid using annoying (but high paying) ads like most other sites which include popups, obnoxious sounds and animations, malware, and other forms of intrusiveness.  We'll do our part to never resort to these types of ads, please do your part by helping support this site by adding Vizzed.com to your ad blocking whitelist.
