Action 52 (Genesis) Review
Overall - 6.5

Action 52 on the Genesis is a sequel of Action 52 on the NES.  It is a lot better, but the games are still bad.  I did a review on Action 52 on the NES and I am going to do the same way I did my review on it here.  I am going to review all the games that are on this game.  Some are the same and some are new games.

Games

1. Bonkers - This game is not that bad, it is in fact fun.  The only thing I hate about it is the 2nd level.  How do you get the keys?  I tried everything and nothing worked.  Useless on the 2nd level.
2. Darksyne - This game is a shooting game.  It is very hard.  You move too fast and you cannot hit the walls or you die.  It is good, just that the controls are not what you expect.
3. Dyno Tennis - This game has no 2-player game.  It is useless unless you play with someone.  It is a tennis game, but you are dinosaurs and the ball is like a caveman.
4. Ooze - This game is horrible.  You cannot shoot when you jump and you die if you get hit once.  Not bad of a game, but they make the controls suck so bad.
5. Star Ball - This is a pinball game.  Very good, but again, the controls are different and is confusing.  Once you get used to it, you'll be able to play this game easily.
6. Sidewinder - It is a shooting game.  It is very fun and is easy to control.  I would recommend this game. :)
7. Daytona - This game is like Rad Racer, only it sucks.  There is no songs playing while your driving and all you hear is the car moving, that's it.  This makes the game so boring.
8. 15 Puzzle - It is a puzzle game where you have to match the numbers in order.  It is hard and it is just not fun to play.
9. Sketch - All you do in this game is free draw.
10. Star Duel - This is like Darksyne, only you play with someone and battle them.
11. Haunted Hills - This game is a side scrolling game.  It is not that bad of a game.  I do not understand why the person is using a torch as a weapon.
12. Alfredo - All you do is catch things that are coming out of the pot.  You are a chef and if you catch something that looks like poop, you lose.  The items come flying out so fast that you can't run fast enough to catch them.
13. Cheetahmen - The game is hard.  The song in the game is so weird and does not even relate to the game.  I think what you have to do is get all the items that are in the level and you continue to the next.  It is a hard game.
14. Skirmish - I do not know what you do in this game cause it is a 2-player game, but what I think it is, you just battle your enemy and try to kill every person they have.  It would be fun if there was a 1-player game.
15. Depth Charge - You are a ship that shoots bombs down underwater to destroy the submarines.  That is all you do till you get to the nest level or something.  It is pretty easy.
16. Minds Eye - I have no idea what it is, but it is kind of like Minesweeper or it could be Minesweeper.  I am not good at that kind of game.
17. Alien Attack - This is a side scrolling game.  You are a person that can shoot aliens that come to you.  This has to do with a lot of concentration because some enemies can move faster than you and you can only kill them with 3 or 4 bullets.  It just hurts my brain.  the worst part of it is that when you move to the right or left, you are like one second away from dying when an enemy appears.
18. Billy Bob - This is a pretty cool game to play, only that it is hard.  It is like a shooting arcade game, but the enemies shoot fast and they are small when they appear in the buildings.  Good game, but just hard.
19. Sharks - It is a rip off of Jaws.  What is cool about it is when you kill a shark, it gushes out a lot of blood. :P
20. Knockout - It is a 2-player game.  You are black boxers trying to knockout the other. Not that fun, but okay.  What is weird is that they can jump really high.
21. Intruder - You are a person in a maze that is trying to get to the end.  You cannot touch the wall of you'll die cause it is electric.  Hard to play, but you get used to it if you play it a lot.
22. Echo - This game is like Simon Says, only that it changes the pattern if you get it right.  I call it, Simon Says Extreme.
23. Freeway - This is one of those games where you try to get to the other side of the street, only you are a dog walking through 2 roads trying not to get hit by a car.  You just get the things that are on the other side of the road and bring it back to where you started at, not that hard.  Why does it have to be a dog?  What happened to the chicken?  What I don't like about the game is when you get run over, the dog splits into pieces.  That's horrible. :S
24. Mousetrap - Wow, you are a mouse trying to get all the cheese and trying not to get eaten by the cat.  Kind of like Tom and Jerry if you know what I mean.  The mouse can move very fast, while the cats are just moving horizontal and slow.  It is a very easy game, at least you are not the cat. :P
25. Ninja - This game is confusing.  You are a ninja and the rest is so confusing cause I was walking all the way to the right and then I decided to touch the enemy, which are ninjas, and I get a Level 1 Complete.  I do not even know how I did that.  This game is weird.
26. Slalom - You just ski down a mountain and try to not hit the trees.  What they didn't think about in this game is that you can move backwards.  You cannot do that in real life, that would be crazy.
27. Dauntless - It is a side scrolling shooting game.  It is so hard to see cause the clouds are in the way.  You just shoot the planes down and continue to the next level.
28. Force One - This is a shooting game.  You are a ship that can shoot from two cannons (whatever it is called) and just shoot the enemies down. I do not get it, they so not shoot at you, they just move around like an idiot.  Too easy.
29. Spidey - This is just like Mousetrap only you are a spider trying to get all the flies that are stuck on the web and trying to not get touched by ant-looking spiders.  This is way too easy, but does get harder each level.
30. Appleseed - You are a farmer-looking person that is trying to catch apples falling from the trees.  There is no mess ups if the apples fall down on the ground, but if you get something that is not an apple, you lose.
31. Skater - You are a skater that is skating in the street, trying to get stereos and to prevent from getting hit by beach balls and dead cats on the road.  Why would they really put dead cats on the road?  That is just weird.
32. Sunday Drive - This is one of those games that you just dodge things.  In this game, you dodge cars on the road and you just get to the end.  What is weird is that the exit is the same exit over and over again (Segaville next exit).  There is a button that you can press to honk, which is useless.
33. Star Evil - It is a shooting game and it is very easy.  The enemies are mostly at the far side of the level.  What is weird is that if you die, your ship blows up with blood around.  That is just so messed up.
34. Air Command - Another shooting game.  You just shoot the planes down, that is it.
35. Shootout - It is just like Billy Bob, but it is like playing at a circus and you just shoot animals that are moving horizontal.  You have a limit to shooting.  Not hard if you are good at it.
36. Bombs Away - You are a person that is running from missiles coming down from the sky.  You can jump higher than the houses.  I do not get that at all.  This game is basically easy if you just move to the far right cause the missiles barely go near the end of the levels.
37. Speed Boat - All you do is drive a boat and dodge anything that is in your way.  You cannot shoot or get items.  Just a simple easy game if you tell me.
38. Dedant - You are an ant that shoots blood-looking projectiles at caterpillars.  What I do not get is that when you shoot at the caterpillars, they sound like they are taking a crap sound effect and there was a spider that you could not hit.
39. G Fighter - A side scrolling shooting game.  Basically the same as the others.
40. Man At Arms - You are an archer that is shooting knights that are trying to get into the castle.  It is a pretty fun game, but the song is just so annoying.
41. Norman - It is a tank game.  You are a tank that can shoot other tanks and people.  What is stupid is that you can't run over the people.  The tanks don't even shoot so this is an easy game.
42. Armor Battle - Just like Norman, only it is a 2-player game.
43. Magic Bean - You are a person that is climbing a bean stalk and trying to get to the top.  What I don't get is the things that are falling does not make sense.  The items are shoes, horseshoes, a bottle of rum, and others.
44. Apache - It is yet another shooting game.  Not going to say anything about this cause it is the same as the others.
45. Paratrooper - You just get items in the area and try to not get hit by robot-looking creatures.  What is annoying is if you hit the wall, you get the sound effect of getting pushed, but you do not die so it is annoying if you hit the wall so many times.
46. Sky Avenger - Lol, the level looks exactly like Bombs Away.  What sucks is that it is another side scrolling shooting game.  The enemies can appear from the front and from behind.
47. Sharpshooter - It is another circus game, but you have unlimited ammo and you shoot weird creatures.  I do not think you can die in this game cause I have not died yet.
48. Meteor - A shooting game.  You just shoot meteors that are falling from the sky.  The good thing is that you do not have to worry about the town cause it does not blow up if the meteor hits it.  So basically, it is one of those easy games.
49. Black Hole - Yet another shooting game.  In this game, the camera moves the screen by itself, which sucks.
50. The Boss - It is a good game.  You just grab the items that appear and try to not get touched by enemies.  One of those classic games.
51. 1st Game - It is Ping Pong.  Nothing to say, it is just a ping pong game.
52. Challenge - This is not a game.  It is just picks random games and make you play them on a higher difficulty.

Wrap Things Up...

Action 52 on the Genesis is a whole lot better than the one of the NES.  Most of the games are fun and good.  What I found out is some of the sound effects are in other games like the screaming and the explosions.  I would not recommend this game, but if you want to try out the games that are fun, be my guest.  Some are just fun to play. Another thing I like is that some of the games that their own title screen, which is cool. :)

Action 52 features 52 different games in a single cartridge. Some of them are the same as those included with the identically entitled NES compilation, though most are unique to this release. The games are selected from a colored menu and are mostly side scrolling, platform or shooter action games. Each game is written in one color, yellow meaning "expert", purple "intermediate", green "beginner", blue "two players" and white "special". The games included are:

The game also offers a music demo screen and a randomizer, which picks a game at random.
