HotWheels Turbo Racing Review HellBoundLycan
Hot-wheels Turbo Racing (HTR) is a game using the classic metal cast vehicles created by the Hot-wheels company, varying from the well known "Twin-mill" and "Twin-mill II" all the way to the powerful Jet Engine powered "Thunder-Roller" This game possesses many astounding race types as well, Time Trials and championships are available to best yourself against the track and A.I controlled competition with a difficulty ramp that becomes slightly annoying on the final championship.
The cars have their own stats that give each vehicle a different feel when driving and allow the player to try different race-styles depending on the track. This game has another variant available on the PlayStation which has far better graphics, longer music clips and also has a voice which says the name of the vehicle, the N64 variant is a bare-minimum of what it progressed into for the PSX.
Expedition race or standard race: allows you to race in a single map with a car of your choice against opponents that you can change the difficulty of in the options.
Time Trial: think you have what it takes to beat your previous times? Choose your car and give it a whirl in this race against the clock! No competition aside from the time and your own abilities as a driver.
Championship [Cup series]: there are three championships, each with a different difficulty and a longer list of tracks. With each championship you complete, you unlock more tracks. Upon completion of the third, you unlock the Twin-Mill cup.
Twin-mill Cup: you are put up against three other Twin-mills in a 4 car race on some of the most difficult tracks in the game, these competitors are FAR more difficult than the ones in the previous races.
Rating:
Graphics: 7/10. The graphics occasionally have their glitches such as vehicles fading through the map or flashing objects from too many items on-screen but the game runs solidly compared to the visual effects.
Sound: 6/10. The music is repetitive and also does not complete the entire song! There are many songs which only loop the first portion and make it sound as though it's a skipping record player.
Addictiveness: 10/10. The game has a lot of replay value thanks to the championships and the ability to unlock more cars via hidden passage-ways within each track. Couple that with the reputation that Hot-Wheels had as a company (and still does), and you have one heck of a game to let die.
Story: 0/10. There is no story, no point except to win each race or time-trial and become better than the rest.
Depth: 8/10. The vehicles are depicted very closely to their real-life toy counterparts with stats that are different for every car in the game.
Difficulty: 7/10. Controls are very easy to learn with a controller but on the keyboard it's a bit tougher, there are many times when you need to press more than two buttons (which most computers don't allow), such as taking a sharp corner and hitting the boost right before a jump (a beep of rejection normally happens causing the last button to not respond and end whatever move you were doing, forcing you to press the button again).
Over-all: 8/10. The game is great, but I would highly recommend playing the PlayStation version for a better experience without as many glitches and music that plays through the entire clip before looping.

Hot Wheels TURBO RACING! blackninja778
I remember when I was younger a lot of boys my age back then would play with Hot wheels.It was the hottest toy in it's time and it's still popular today.Then every popular franchise gets it's own game.This started with Hot Wheels for the C64 in 1985.Now the Hot wheels game's are known for being pretty high quality even for a kids game.So I'll be reviewing the first game that came to home consoles.That game is Hot Wheels Turbo Racing for the N64.The game is also for the PlayStation which I think is the better version which I will talk into later.Now this game focuses on doing aerial tricks to earn boost to win the race.Sounds simple right?Well it is,but that's what makes it such a fun pick up and play game,But now enough talking On to the Review!
Graphics:The graphics look good for it's time.Cars look more detailed and there's less pop-up unlike another version I know. {7}
Sound:The music in this game is pretty catchy,but it's too bad the engine and car noises over shadows the music since it's more louder.Oh well that's what the sound options are for. {8}
Addictiveness:The tracks are very well designed and some even have some special design like for example in Helicrash.Not only that ,but the mutiplayer is tons of fun.This is a game you'll keep coming back to. {9}
Story:Nope,Nothing here. { }
Depth:This is when I'll start bashing the game.It has one problem........It's too SHORT!The game only has 8 tracks in all,but It has a good number of cars spanning to about 40 actual Hot Wheels.Also It has Exhibition Race (Quick Race),Airtime challenge (Get the most points),Hot Wheels Cup (Do tournament note:There are only 3 of these in the game),Practice(Do whatever you want),Practice Airtime (Same thing as Practice).While it is a nice selection all you need to do to beat the game is the Hot Wheels Cup everything is pretty much extra which mean if you're pretty good you can beat the whole game in like 2-4 hours. {4}
Difficulty:I got to say for a kids game this can get pretty hard at times.I mean the Twin mill Challenge was hard even on Easy and also I forgot to mention the way you adjust the difficulty is a sliding bar.So for example crank it to the red for Expert and crank to the yellow for Easy or just put it in the middle like me for Medium. {7}
Emulation Problems:Welcome to the new section called Emulation problems.Here I will talk about problems that happen in the Vizzed emulator.There is only one problem and that is once you start a race and it ends The main menu gets all messed up not like it makes it impossible to see I thought I'd mention it.
Version differences:Another new section so if a game has multiple versions I will go through the differences.Note:Both only support 2-Player.
N64:Sharper graphics,Less Fog and Pop-up,Voice clips,Short songs and missing one of them.
PS : Pixels can be seen in graphics,3 extra Tracks,Full length Songs,More fog and Pop-up.
Overall:Hot Wheels Turbo Racing was a pretty good game for the time and it still is.With it's good track design,Graphics soung and control I say I would recomend it.If you're a fan of Hot wheels or a big racing fan I would you should try it.

Hot Wheels Turbo Racing Review Marcmoney
Overall - 9.2Hot Wheels Turbo Racing on the Nintendo 64 is quite an amazing racing game. I actually own this game and it is still fun to play. I remember just doing free play by myself and just doing crazy tricks on the vehicle. I am not into racing games anymore because I am not good at them. I guarantee you that this game is worth trying.Graphics - 8The graphics in this game is very good. However, this game has some coloring problems where you can just fly out of the area and just go through something. The effects, however, are impressive for a Nintendo 64.Sound - 9The sounding in this game is great. It has good songs to play in each area and the sound effects are just amazing, especially when using the turbo. It is insane.Addictiveness - 8This game used to be addicting to me back in the old days, but as for now, it is quite addicting if you like racing games.Story - N/AThere is no story in this game. It is just racing in different types of areas.Depth - 7The game does not have that much things to do. Most of it is playing campaign, playing with friends, or just playing by yourself and doing tricks. Also, this game has items that you can use to help you in the game.Difficulty - 4This game is not too hard to play or to win. It was not too bad for me, but I never did try the hardest difficulty. The only problem that I experience in these racers is that they would always be in the way if you are not in 1st place. Other than that, everything is fair.Wrap Things Up...Hot Wheels Turbo Racing is a good racing game to play on the Nintendo 64. I would recommend trying this game out if you have not already. It is worth playing if you love racing games.
