Boulder Dash ReviewOverall - 8.7
Boulder Dash on the NES is very fun to play. I remember playing this kind of game on the computer, but now I found this and it seemed similar. I like the way it plays. It is like a puzzle and it is sometimes tricky. I like these kinds of games where it gets tricky in some levels and it is classic. Boulder Dash is basically a title about this game cause you are avoiding boulders that may smash you. It is great, I would say an awesome classic game on the NES. There is no other game on the NES that is similar to this one. If there is, then prove me wrong. :P
Graphics - 9
The graphics are good. I like the way it has set up in the game play. You get diamonds and avoid boulders and try to get to the exit. The effects are slightly off because it does not have any flashy or anything that indicates any effects. It still has good graphics.
Sound - 8
The music is a bit okay, it is kind of annoying, but it has good beats. The effects are so cartoonish. When the boulder falls, it makes a falling sound that you would hear in a cartoon show.
Addictiveness - 7
I would play this often. I won't say that it is the best puzzle, but it turns out as an okay puzzle game. The only thing that keeps me playing this game is the trickiness. :)
Story - N/A
There is no story in this game. All you do is collect diamonds and try to get to the end of the level. I am not sure what happens if you beat the whole game, probably something that has to do with you being rich (I do not know).
Depth - 8
The game has a lot to offer like from the start, you can choose any color that you want your character to be. That is pretty cool. Another thing is the way you start off in the game. It is pretty much like Super Mario World on the SNES where you choose your levels. I am surprised that there is a game that is just like Super Mario World.
Difficulty - 5
The game is not quite hard if you get the hang of it. Like I said, it is tricky, which I like. If you mess up a couple of times on an easy level, you will understand on where to go and how to avoid getting hit by the boulders. Of all the levels, it seems to play fair to you. There is no mess ups or impossible levels in this game.
Wrap Things Up...

You're Rockford and have to dig through monster infested caves in search of diamonds. In each level you must collect a certain number of these diamonds, in order to open a portal to the next stage. Enemies can be squashed by falling boulders, which are released when the ground below them is removed or they are pushed onto empty ground, but be careful because these can also squash you. In later levels, difficulty is increased by many puzzle elements and shorter time limits.

Jordanv78 02-17-13 - 02:31 AM This game has graphic issues with both the default and mednafen
adrian1030 07-30-12 - 08:32 AM Not bad, but I still prefer the C64 version. This was quite enjoyable too, but I miss the bonus stages.
The music was OK.
