Final Review of my review-a-thon. (I wanted to go through the whole week, but my creative juices stopped flowing at this one)

This one might actually be one of my shorter reviews, as this is just a little Gameboy game about taking care of these cute little aliens called Tamagotchi. However, customary to my reviews, I'd like to talk about how Tamagotchi got started. This didn't start out as just a game for a Gameboy. In fact, the Gameboy game was inspired by the actual Tamagotchi!

You see, during the '90s, Japan released these little digital toys that you can put on a keychain, sort of like these little keychain souvenirs from Weeki Wachee that has your name written on some sand on a beach. When you turn the toy, the waves move. The Tamagotchi keychain toys were like that, only you can take care of a virtual alien instead of tilting the souvenir and watch waves move. Later this toy got released in America.

It EXPLODED in popularity and became a huge fad. They were so popular that it wasn't the norm to say anyone without the keychain toys! It also got so famous that the little Tamagotchis even got their own TV shows! One school even banned them because the students would fiddle with their Tamagotchi instead of learning.Later that year, Bandai, the company who made the toys, released a game for the Gameboy of the Tamagotchi. But as I said before, they were just fads, so not many people ever owned or heard of the game. In fact, I myself knew a bit about the keychain toys, but didn't know this existed until I saw a ProJared video covering it. So now that I've played this game enough to know about it, I'll stop rambling and we'll begin!Graphics - 5The graphics are pretty average for the time. The Tamagotchi don't have that many animations, and the backgrounds are kind of bland and the same. If you don't feed/play with them, the Tamagotchi will constantly bounce around, occasionally poop, and, if you take good care of them, they'll evolve!Unfortunately, there's not really much to say here. Hopefully this isn't a recurring theme throughout my review.Sound - 4

As this is a Gameboy game, this is where the sound is lacking. There's little music and sound effects, but, in this game, there's a sound test that you can unlock when you win first place in one of the contests for the first time! Don't worry, if this sounds confusing, just check out the Depth!Addictiveness - 9

You've got quite a few eggs to choose from and raise, and depending on how good you are to them, such as feeding them, playing with them, making sure that they exercise so that they're not incredibly fat, and scolding them when they don't behave, they'll evolve into different kinds of Tamagotchi. If you're a good parent, they'll evolve into a happy Tamagotchi that lives a long time with very few complaints in life. However, if your parenting skills aren't good, to the point where you're neglecting them and not helping them out when they're sick, then they'll evolve into ugly Tamagotchi who are spoiled, selfish, and don't live for very long.You're drawn towards this game, trying to play it right so that you can see all the kinds of Tamagotchi that you can get. I even hear that there are some secret evolution forms that you can get! Unfortunately, I don't believe I've gotten any of those, yet, so I can't describe them for you. You'll just have to find them for yourself.Story - 4

The story is pretty simple as to how the Tamagotchi came to earth and why you need to take care of them: One starry, sleepy night, a comet came shooting down from space and into your backyard! This comet turned out not to be a piece of rock, but rather a spaceship with little eggs in them!A doctor and his nurse took them for further research, and, with their analysis, safely concluded that the eggs were friendly and the aliens that were in them wouldn't try and blow up the world or anything, and so, it's your job to raise all the little Tamagotchi and give them the happiest life possible.Depth - 6

This may come as a surprise to you, but you don't just take care of the Tamagotchi! Sure, you feed them, clean up their messes when they poop, and give them medicine when they're sick, but you can also make them exercise, which is where they jump around, trying to catch falling baseballs, increase how intelligent they are, by playing some math minigames, and you can play with them!The game that you play with your little aliens is called "Left or Right" where your Tamagotchi will look either left or right and you have to guess where they will look before they do that. If you can guess at least three of the five rounds correctly, then your Tamagotchi will be super happy, and their fun meter will rise.When they evolve into a certain stage, which is what I like to call the teenager stage, you'll be able to enter them into contests! There are three contests: Beauty, Intelligence, and Fitness. The intelligence is what you'd expect: Your Tamagotchi are faced with math problems, and must answer them correctly.Fitness is a race, where your Tamagotchi competes with a bunch of other Tamagotchi, who aren't player-controlled, and the four of you will race to get to the finish line. Beauty may seem like it's completely randomized, but it also counts toward how you take care of your Tamagotchi, because, as I said, if you treat them right, they'll grow up pretty, and treat them wrong, and they'll become ugly.Difficulty - 5

This game is actually mildly difficulty. The first time I played, I completely skipped the exercise minigame with my first Tamagotchi, named Iris, and what do you know, she died. Then my second Tamagotchi, Mia, I tried to take care of better, but she grew up into the form that your Tamagotchi take when you treat them badly. There's not much to say here, other than it's more difficult than you'd think.Overall - 5.5This is a charming little game for the Gameboy that I'd actually recommend to you all! I played this constantly when I was on vacation earlier this year.
