Here Fishy Fishy   bazboyd
I'm gonna say it now, I love writing reviews, and I hope you guys love reading them. Well, lets get to it, Insaniquarium! A game about feeding fish! Yeah, I'm not gonna lie, it sounds boring, but don't leave yet, it is a good game. You feed fish! ... I am really not helping my case here. Well, lets get to it.
Graphics: 8
The graphics are great for 2004. Nowadays, they still look pretty good. The backgrounds are very detailed and beautiful, the different fish are nicely designed, and the bosses ( Yes, you read that correctly. ) are creative and nicely done.
Sounds: 7
The music is nice and cheery, not to mention catchy. The sound... eh. The sound can get annoying sometimes, like the repeated gun blast sounds... gun blast sounds? Yeah, there are guns in this game. This game is full of surprises.
Addictiveness: 8
Now, don't get me wrong feeding fish doesn't sound all that fun, but the game is incredibly addicting. Now, let me explain the basic mechanics of the game. You feed fish, they poop money, (Yeah, I know.) you buy more fish, repeat till you have enough money to buy pieces of the eggs, which unlock pets. Yeah, it sounds weird. But, believe it or not, it gets even weirder. In the next level, you have to protect your fish from aliens coming into your tank through a rip in space time. And no, that wasn't the story. The story, is amazing...
Story: 10
Now, to be fair, this shouldn't be here, cause I don't think there is a story. But, I'm gonna make a story for it, ready? Here we go.
You come from a long line of fish caretakers / breeders. When your grandfather died, he left his fish tank to you. Thanks granddad. But little did you know, these fish were special. They poop money! But intergalactic space aliens from outer space want the money. You arm yourself with a gun and pets, and you get ready for the best fun ever.
Phew. We all need a little time to be silly, right?
Depth: 10
This game has a LOT to offer. Fish, different kinds of fish, different bosses, different weapons, pets to unlock, and different modes.
The different modes include, Challenge mode, Time Trial, Adventure mode (or campaign mode, if you will), And virtual tank. Adventure mode is your basic campaign, as you go along, you unlock different pets, which do a variety of things, including, but not limited to, Fight aliens with you, give money, feed fish, collect money, and give birth? Yeah, that's a thing. Time trial is trying to make as much money as you can in 5 minutes. Challenge mode, if I remember correctly, is trying to complete a normal level, but the prices on things increase over time.
Virtual tank is just that, a virtual tank. You earn shells (the virtual tank currency) through playing Adventure mode, time trial, and challenge mode. You also get shells from your virtual tank fish. You buy Virtual tank fish with shells. And if you want to get some quick shells, here is a tip. Take a normal fish, buy it, and name it Santa. When you do that, you will get a fully grown fish that is white and red, sings Christmas carols, and drops 20 shells. Pretty cool.
Difficulty: 7
Like all good games, the difficulty has a learning curve. The farther in you get in to it, it gets harder. But this game gets hard. And I mean HARD. This game will chew you up, spit you out, insult your mother, insult your father, and yeah its actually not that hard. Its very tedious though. It can get hard though.
Overall: 8
This game is good. You should definitely try it out. If you hate fish though, whats wrong with you?
Man, I feel like this dragged on a little.
I hope you guys liked this review, because i sure love writing them.

Insaniquarium Deluxe! PC   classgame
And now for a brief essay I would like to call: Why I'm doing this today instead of tomorrow......I screwed up the Adventure Workshop review real bad, I put the wrong content in the wrong game and now on with the review already in progress
ah, does anyone remember a time where you could download games off the internet, not really caring if you caught a virus or not? I do! I would download games all the time, even though they weren't full version (basically you will be allowed to play the game for about an hour and then when times up you have to pay for the game, some games will allow you to add more time like 2-5 minutes for free, depending on where you download them from). PopCap put out some real gems.....literally my first game from them was Bejeweled, but I'm not going to talk about that today, I'm going to talk about Insaniquarium, but what's so exciting about a game about a fish tank? well I'm going to tell you
Story: You are raising goldfish in a strange aquarium where you have to protect them from aliens, oh did I neglect to bring up that the fish in the tank poop coins? the baby guppies don't poop anything but as they grow they eventually poop silver coins, gold coins, and if they survive long enough eventually they poop out diamonds. When you defeat the aliens they eventually turn into Diamonds. There are other fish you can raise like Piranhas but they eat the Guppies (don't buy them unless you have the preggo the mama fish on you and you are satisfied with the number of grown fish you have) however the Piranhas also poop diamonds. In the second round you can feed the fish some formula that will turn them shiny and they poop stars, and then you'll need the star catchers that are basically bottom feeders but they serve a purpose they catch the stars and they turn them into diamonds, but this round also introduces Gus, clicking on him won't defeat him you have to feed him til he dies so upgrade the food often. The third round will have another bottom feeder that pukes up strange looking beetles, not really worth much but if you get the beetle catcher which is a strange looking creature that will turn the beetles into pearls. Oh and get this in the 4th round you won't need the mama fish you will have a preggo fish that will pop out babies CONSTANTLY and you will need those piranha's more than ever, especially when we have this HUGE fish that eats pirahnas and poops out treasure chests. Now why is this all important? you will need the currency for food and weapons upgrades, as well as well as purchasing formula for level 2, and you need to build your egg, every time you finish that egg you get an extra pet you can keep in the aquarium and they can help you out, the Preggo fish can help you save money on fish, Meryl the Mermaid sings and make the fish poop at a fast rate, you will need something like a jellyfish to gather as much as you can or the snail that can catch on the bottom. There are also pets that can help you defeat these aliens like a sword fish, or a whale that can hide the guppies. There are some pets that are kind of pointless like the electric eel, I don't recommend having that in the tank u nless you have the angelfish with you that would revive dead fish. After you've bought all the pets, there are four bonus eggs you can build eggs for for the bucket rounds. Those four pets aren't really essential but there's a nose that can sneeze and delay an alien attack, you can feed this elephant that will give you currency (usually stars a majority of the time, they won't give you coins they'll give you the higher stuff) there's this other one where it can help with alien attacks tossing balls around, but I don't remember what the fourth one provided
Graphics: The backgrounds change every round but the 4th round background is such a graveyard, the final boss round is better to look at than that.
Sound: I love the soundtrack to this game, it's so relaxing especially the soundtrack for Level 1 and 2
Addictive: Well there's a reason I kept downloading and redownloading this game until I had my own physical copy
Depth: Four Levels including the Final Boss round. There's also a bonus feature where you can have your own virtual aquarium where you can name you fish and later sell them at a different rate, and it can act as a screensaver that way your fish will be well taken care of even if you aren't playing the game at the moment
Difficulty: Well it was difficult on my hands I can tell you that, and it does take alot of patience, eventually you will be dealing with aliens that will fire rockets or fireballs at your fish, and there's an octopus that can regain it's health and if you click on it while it's recovering it will regain it's health faster. There was another alien that was brought in in the fourth round but I can't remember what it was.
Post review follow up: This is a very memorable game one of Popcaps best, I mean sure they have bejeweled and Plants vs Zombies and Zuma, but you can't forget something like Insaniquarium. I love it enough to give it a ten
This concludes my review, tune in tomorrow when I review Atlantis The Lost Empire: The Search for the Journal
