Far Cry 3 - AmazingI just started playing this game a few months ago. Well after it had been released. I didn't know if it was going to be a good game or not. WELL let me tell you. This game is absolutely amazing. If you like games like Fallout 3 and New Vegas, the Assassins Creed series and the Uncharted series you will love this game. This is a game for adults only though. Lots of swearing and adult content and subject matter.
This game is a first person shooter with a lot of role playing game elements such as side quests, gathering collectables as well as hunting and skinning animals to upgrade your gear. To make your life easier in this game I suggest starting on hunting early in the game. As you level up you also upgrade your skills and as you do that you get a pretty awesome "tatau" on your characters arm. Some of the upgrades how ever you can only unlock by completing certain things. An example of this would be "attack 5 enemies using a certain previously unlocked skill." HEED MY WARNING some of these are miscible and getting the trophy or achievement regarding completing the tatau will be rendered impossible without restarting the game. And this is a long game, you do not want to have to do that as I now have to.
Graphics - 9
I gave this a 9 because the graphics really are amazing. So much time was put into this game and the detail of it. I imagine the PS3 version is even more crisp. This game is set on an island and they made sure to put the time and effort into this games graphics to make you believe it is real.
Sound - 9
The score in this game is amazing. Lots of diversity. Some of the songs in this game are even on my Ipod. When you are driving around in a car you get local island music. during quests you will be shocked to hear some of the songs that have been thrown in. I don't want to spoil it all but there is some Skrillex, Die Antwood and MIA. Every song that you hear works perfectly with what is going on at that point in time in the game.
Addictiveness - 9
DO NOT Play this game unless you have tons of time to devote to it. It is one of those games that you say to yourself "on more quest then im going to bed" but you end up finishing the quest then something opens up and you go explore it and get doing something else. Then that leads you to start doing another thing, so on and so forth. I personally spend 20 hours just doing side quests before even finishing the game. Every element of this game just pulls you and takes hold of your soul.
Story - 9
One of the most amazing stories I have ever played in a video game. It took elements of real life and issues we have in this world today mixed it with some fantasy and made it work amazingly. Jason Brody and his friends are vacationing on a tropical island when things go wrong. Jason must race to save his friends from pirates as he discovers the truth about this tropical paradise is not all as it seems. You meet some helpful friends along the way in your journey to save your friends and brothers from certain death.
Depth - 10
As I have said this game is very in depth. There are lots of things to do. Tons of places to explore. Just when you think you are done you realize that you couldn't be further from the end unless you started the game over. The story itself alone is so in depth, that even if you just play that you will be satisfied. I strongly suggest doing everything in this game. I promise you its well worth it.
Difficulty - 8
Once you get the hang of this game its still difficult but in a good challenging way. It has different difficulty levels and I suggest you play it on easy first for the story. There are some really challenging parts of this game and even on easy you will never complain that this game is to easy. I never found anything impossible though. Just frustrating at times when you know what to do but cant seem to do it. And never rush anything in this game. This is very much a "take your time and be as stealthy as possible" type of game.
Overall - 9.5
I give this game a 9.5 and I feel it has truly earned it. I don't think I will ever get bored with this game. Once you have it %100 game play and %100 trophies and achievements I'm pretty confident that before to long you will want to start from the beginning all over again. Whether it be for the story, a new difficulty challenge or to simply run around and explore. I don't think this game will ever get boring. I just hope the next Far Cry surpasses the amazingness of this one and is not a huge upset like some games trying to live up to its predecessor.
I strongly suggest this game to anyone looking for a great story, an amazing setting, and hours worth of game play. I hope everyone else enjoys this game as much as I did and still do.
