Grinchs Digimon World 2 Review iiGrinchii
Hey, what's good. Grinch here, Let me tell you, I've played this game so much, and I always just come back for more, it's that addicting. Especially if you love rpgs. And grinding... and.. Grinding.. and yeah you get the point. So let's start this review.
Graphics: 7/10
For a game that was created during the playstation 1 era, the graphics are pretty good, but they're not the best. I feel as the game has really good graphics in some points of the game, but the battling system for graphics, was pretty sad. But it was still amazing. There is points in the game, where your mouth will drop from how beautiful the graphics are, and then there is points in the game where you will just wonder what the creators were doing lol.
Sound: 8/10
You know, for most games that come with on an emulator, and you use the speed up, it sorta.. actually it does kill the music. But if you're one of those few that actually play through it without FF(fast forward). Then the soundtracks to this game, is beautiful. The sound differs on each city you enter, it differs on the battles, not each battle, but the important ones! The sound is great, I love it. I actually could maybe one day probably not actually sit down and listen to the 2 hour soundtrack .. Onto the next one!}
Addictiveness: 10/10
10 outta 10 seems a bit reckless, well let's be straight, this game is addicting without any doubt. I always come back to this game, always, at least once a year, I have to play this game. Why? There is so many different digimon on this game, that you just want to try as a team, or possibly pick a new starter, or try a new strategy. There is so many different things you can do when you replay this game, or possible just relive the memory, either way, I always seem to come back to this game, and waste hours upon hours defeating it. Now as a kid, i probably would never do that, because this game, requires.. TIME. Thank the lord for the fast forward :D.
Story: 8/10
I'm not going to spoiler you with much based on the story, but it's actually pretty good. The whole training to get stronger, and to destroy the wait.. i'm not allowed to spoil. That being said, I really personally enjoyed the story, and if you play through the end, i'm sure you will as well.
Depth: 10/10
This game.. has too much to offer.. it will take.. a while.. more than a while.. to beat it! Seriously, If you attempted to beat this game without speed ups, oh man, you're looking at half a year haha, not sure really but it's long. Why is it long? The story isn't that much in depth, but it's the time it takes to get through the story is extreme, and why is it extreme? Because you need to grind and grind and grind, as I said in my opener. When you get something like "99999999" exp. That simply means, more time to get your guy stronger. Not only this, but there is so many levels for you to complete, so many upgrades for your "beetle", so many possible outcomes, you have the tournament, you have the daycare, you have missions, you can catch new digimon, train that. Etc. And not just that, but they even implemented a final area for you, after you defeat the game, and in that area. is over 100 floors for you to explore. Like i said, this is a 10/10.
Difficulty: 9/10
The difficulty of this game is rather extreme. Why is it? You simply train till you get 999999 exp, then you have to infuse it with someone else, to get a bit better stats, then to get a lower level of that max cap, to train it past the cap, then you simply gotta do it again, and again, until you're either 11, 21, or 32, so you can digievolve, then you gotta do it again when you get 99999 exp cap.. over and over and over.. and over. The game is difficult. Very. And it takes a lot of time. Now is the bosses hard? Not really, if you over train. like I do.. But the game is difficult in the time it takes, the way it works, hard to learn and so on.
Overall: 8.9
I'm rating this 8.9, simply because this is how I feel about it, and taking the other rating i've used, this number seems to make more sense, part from that. This game is absolutely one of my favorites, and I hope when you play this, and hopefully dedicate more of your life to it than I did, I hope you enjoy it, have fun with it, and kick butt.
Thank you all for reading my absolutely amazing beautiful sexy review.

Digimon: Digital Monsters Kelgate
Digimon World 2 comes from a trio in the series of Digimon World games for the PlayStation. The first one was a pinnacle of the breeding, tamogochi style keeping the Digimon happy so that it can digivolve, get stronger and go through several quests in the process. Digimon World 2 decided to throw it all out of the window and gave it a turn based RPG flare which I think was a classic change to the series. This paved the way for classic video games like Dark Cloud and Pokémon Mystery Dungeon by having the dungeon randomly generated and only able to move so much before you have to leave before your Digi-Beetle loses some vital parts. Here is my review of the innovation that is... Digimon World 2.
Graphics: 9/10; Digimon World 2 has graphics that will sometimes make your mouth gape wide open and just look in at awe as one of your favorite Anime shows come to life before your very eyes. The dungeons themselves, aren't very detailed, mostly staying flat with just walls of a different tile color to each level but the Digimon themselves is where it shines. The developers go to great lengths to make each Digimon look as it should, fully rendered 3-D graphics when they spot you out of the corner of their eye in the dungeon, how they creep up towards you slowly looking for a battle. And when combat starts its very clear that the PlayStation was put to good use in keeping these graphics solid and cohesive. The different teams all have a unique base-outline and provides an added splash of color to the game. Since this game is all about the Digimon, I think they did just fine with the graphics because the dungeons, are just there to move around till you get to the final boss anyway.
Sound: 7/10 Diiiiiiiigimon.... Digital Monsters..... Digimon are the Champions! Everyone that knows of the beloved franchise knows that, that theme song is by far the best song with lyrics in a long time, so where is it?.. Not in the game?!?! I have to give the sound a knock for its lack of the classic soundtrack, and while the music that does play is more.. Digital for a lack of a better word, trying to get you right into the action with loud music, thumping bass, its just not the same. Don't get my wrong, the music is good and the Digimon when they attack, do make a rather adorable sound at times.[Though they don't for a large part if I remember correctly actually say their attack like they would in the anime.] I just know for a fact that they could have done better to give us an enriching experience with the thralls of music as much as they do with the graphics and the overall game play.
Addictiveness: 9/10; To help you with the idea of how addictive this game can be, you have three different starting points in which you get three different Digimon starting out.[Similar to how Pokémon does their own starters in a way.] Each place represents a different type of strand that each Digimon falls under. They are: Vaccine, Virus, and Data. Now with that said, you can collect Digimon in the game much similar to any other collecting game that you may know, you have to give them the item they want best or best works with their strand. By doing this, their heart will grow and grow, until it can't grow any further in which case you then enter the battle and knock out the Digimon you want last. Even though you may raise the heart the largest it could, its not always a 100% chance you will get the Digimon thus providing some randomness to the game. On top of that, each Digimon you get, you can Digivolve to make it even stronger. This can be a little tiresome and will cause some grinding because each time you Digivolve, you can only get to a certain level, then need to devolve and work your way up again to progress your level further. This, will cause some unwanted backtracking but overall there are a ton of different possibilities of Digimon. [Devimon, Myotismon, and Etemon please!...]
Story: 9/10 The Story is a bit different then most Digimon games yet it still has that certain similarity between them. When you start up the game for the first time, you become responsible on deciding which team you are going to join to help contain the wild Digimon that are breaking out and getting rowdy. By determining if you want to be Vaccine, Data, and Virus you then get to see your very first Digi-Beetle. The Digi-Beetle is your mode of transportation when going through tunnels and has its own movement ability and how much damage it can sustain before it gets destroyed so be careful! After that, you get to go on your very first dungeon run, and its a very easy one to show you the ropes of the game, show you how to fight and move, and do a few battles. You quickly realize however, that not everything... is as it seems and there is something very troubling going on in the Digital World, and something that your tamer training as not taught you how to handle.
Depth: 10/10 Many of the Digimon World games shows off its distinct depth and ability to provide you with a large, and lush world for you to play in. This is no different with the plot sending you on a roller coaster of adventure and furthermore, providing you with different options of what Digimon you want to keep, and what ones you want to play with. You won't be disappointed when you start to realize you are spending hours, after hours into the game and still finding out where to go, and how to get there next without your Digibeetle exploding, and figure out what items you need to equip with it to continue on your world of adventure.
Difficulty: 8/10 This game you will take damage with your beetle more often then not and have to leave a dungeon several times before you are able to complete it, especially the longer you progress through the game. With that said, I don't think this is a hard game and the reason why this game is such a high ranking in difficulty because there is going to be a lot of needless grinding in order to get a Digimon at a certain level or evolution needed to continue the game. I don't have a problem with the grinding, but some may have this issue and thus it becomes hard for others to stay into the moment, and keep playing so it is difficult for some to keep involved and that is why that is such a high score. The game however, I think is still innovative and fun so don't give up if you get stuck or frustrated at a part.
Overall: 9/10 Overall this game is very fun, a unique experience and an adventure I think mainly should give or try to see how far they can get and see if the game is for them. You have different RPG mechanics such as the Digimon themselves, and the Digibeetle and you have a bit of a roguelite game with random generated dungeons that keep you guessing on where to go next. The game is a marvel and an innovation to what the Digimon World and other sequels for Digimon has turned to in their dire need to become a franchise staple alongside the likes of Pokémon, Final Fantasy and so forth. Digimon World 2 paved the way through this RPG innovation and the idea of random dungeons to keep you interested even if you've been through this dungeon three times. I recommend this game to everyone that is a fan of Digimon, to RPGs and of course to those that liked the Pokémon Mystery Dungeon games to give it a try and I hope, that everyone enjoys themselves.
