A new video was released today that showcased a new game, a combined effort by Dimps, one of the teams behind what is arguably one of the best games for the PlayStation Vita, Freedom Wars, and Bandai Namco, the company behind the Sword Art Online games. The game? Sword Art Online: Fatal Bullet.
The game is based on the third arc (first half of SAO II) of the show, which sees Kirito entering the world of Gun Gale Online to investigate what appears to be serial killings occurring from within the game. And while the reveal didn't make mention of Freedom Wars, the gameplay video makes it quite clear that Fatal Bullet combines the two series in it's gameplay mechanics.
Aside from a reveal video that was posted with no pomp on YouTube, and one gameplay video, we don't have much to speak of on this for now, but we can note one key point on the story, and that there are very strong similarities between the gameplay of Fatal Bullet and the gameplay of Freedom Wars.
In regards to the story, the game will follow an alternate story from the show, as is the case with all SAO games, and this much is evident by the fact that the party in the gameplay video consists of Kirito, Sinon, Leafa, and Asuna, which, as you know if you watched it, wouldn't be possible with the show's storyline.
So there you have it: a new SAO game, this time with added gun mechanics. It won't win game of the year, and we don't know much about it yet, but the news had to be relayed for Vizzed's like...three resident SAO fans.
