My goodness, this game brings so much back. This is the very first in the Putt Putt series and it is perhaps a classic. I didn't play this as much as I did with the others in the series, but I easily have the memories. But is this game as great as I say it is. I don't quite like this one as much as I do Moon, Time, or Zoo, but this is still a good game despite not liking it as much. It's the easiest and most straightforward of the series and is the same (minus a difference or two) and isn't quite as randomly generated as much as say, Pajama Sam or Spy Fox or something to that effect.
++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

Graphics: This game shows it's age and retroness. Later games after Moon don't show quite as much age. Still, things are cute and that's all that matters. There are a lot worse games out there from the time period that still don't quite muster or come close to holding up. These just barely reach the line where they are safe. Nostalgic adults and people who relive their childhood won't really care all that much

Sound: The music is the ear wormy kind of tune that stick with you and never leave like they are supposed to. One song always reminded my 6 year old self (ages are not exact)of a song from the Clifford show (what little VERY little I watched of said show anyway) and would drive me to madness. It's the song that plays when you mow the lawn. It just reminded me of Clifford just a tad. I have no bloody idea why. Music pretty catchy and you might have it stuck in your head afterwards. But it's not quite up to the proper sound quality in later games though.

Addictiveness: While a very short game that can be beaten very quickly if one doesn't go wandering, the game still has that addictive nature this franchise can be known for. I wasn't coming back quite as much as I did for Zoo, but it's still very addicting. I remember countless hours spent changing Putt's color and giving him a shower. Simple things like this took up hours upon hours of pure nothingness. Sometimes I would go good Samaritan and mow various Cars' lawns. Sometimes if I wasn't supposed to. I would mow the entire lawn, not just enough to pass the hidden requisite that tells you to actually put in effort. These things were endless and I just wasted all of the day away doing them. Much better than actual chores!

Story: Putt Putt wakes up, decides he wants to join a parade and that's pretty much it. You have to collect a few plot tokens before you are allowed to join the parade (including what is now a very iconic game pet in Pep.. Yes, this is how the two meet and it is epic!) but that's pretty much the short end of the plot. Nothing else happens. Putt Putt wakes up, collects a few things, does a few chores, and joins the parade. Simple and doesn't take up brain space)

Depth: The game is very short. I belive it is the shortest main game in the series. If you don't deviate, it can be completed within 20 minutes or so. Maybe more, but it sure does feel that way sometimes. The game isn't that long when you get down to it so it doesn't take up brain hardware space trying to marathon it. Except starting place to mow, the game isn't very random. Things are pretty much the same, and if you are trying to speed run this game, it can be completed very quickly. Just pay attention from Smoky the bear, eh, the fire truck, and once you find out where to start mowing, then off you go.

Difficulty: If you get stuck anywhere in the game, then there is something clearly wrong. The game is easy. So easy you can probably train your brain to do it blind. That might be hard. But point is, it isn't very hard. Mini games and player challenges might keep you stumped, but the game is meant to be completed when you play it.

Final Score: The best parts of this game were mowing lawns, doing random chores for Mr. Validini (I think that's his name) and just messing around made this game a good childhood classic. Compared to Moon though, it isn't quite as good and it might turn away some people. Voice acting isn't quite as good as later games, as it reeks of preschool based 4th wall breaking shows of the ilk. Everyone sounds just way too over enthusiastic and there is some overacting excitement over menial things, but I still love this game. If you want to relive your past with the first game in the series, then go ahead. I won't stop you. The game is fantastic if slightly underwhelming compared to later entries. The actor playing Putt Putt is great in later games but here, he is clearly new and doesn't have that professionalism he has in Zoo.

If this doesn't appeal to you, maybe start at Zoo and go up. My personal favorite game in the series is Putt Putt Travels through Time, but the actor shines more in Saves the Zoo.
