OVERVIEW

I fell in love with this game the instant I played it. If you have played Scrabble for the next-gen systems then you will have a leg up on this game in knowing what words you can spell. On the flip slide, if you played this game first then it will give a leg up on Scrabble and then some since legal words will be highlighted here.

Originally released for Android and Iphone platforms, the remastered versions were released on PS4, Xbox One, and Wii U. Your job as either Grimm or Rose (a couple of grim reapers) to spell out words to damage enemies. The longer the words then the more damage that is done to the enemy.

GRAPHICS - B

The graphics for the remastered version are made possible due to everything being vector based thus allowing the graphics to be scaled to higher resolutions without the graphics becoming pixelated and distorted unlike all those recent PS2 games that have been released onto PS4. The vectors also allow for smoother mothion. There are many enemies with many variations to them to determine their difficulty and time it takes to kill them. The titles used are well colored to determine which ones can be helpful or hinderful. Red ones and cracked ones do no damage. Green ones and spiked ones damage you if you spell a word, tornado ones switch letters every turn and flipped ones turn the letters upside down.

SOUND - B

The music and sound are OK, I never really paid either of them any mind. I was more drawn into the gameplay. You do get an indicator on whether or not a word is going to be legal to use against the enemy. You also get your usual hit sounds, whiff sounds, etc. and that is all I got to say about that.

CONTROLS - A-

The only main peeve I have about this game is how too quick on the draw the game can be when getting ready to select an option. Accidentally press a button and it will act before you can react in time. I always find myself trying to get back to the map and once I do, I accidently press the action button and end up back at the fight screen.

REPLAYABILITY - A

This game is highly addictive as you are not only playing to advance through the game but to replay levels to earn stars and jewels to buy upgrades. In fact, it takes 30 stars to make Rose available to play with. Each character has unique traits such as default damage that is dealt and damage that is taken. Further upgrades make the game easier to play. Another good thing about this game is you can learn a lot of vocabulary into your brain as each legal word has a definition to it although some definitions are questionable.

OVERALL - A

I apologize for not being so talkative this time around in this review. I was just not in the mood this month and had a lot on my mind but I did not want to end the month without posting at least one review and I decided to do a review on something that caught my eye the moment I first got it on Black Friday.

I've actually played this game before. I played the original version and then since I had that on steam I got the remastered version free, and honestly the game is absolutely wonderful just like your review states.

Nice review, I definitely recommend this game to anyone who's particularly wordy and likes quirky combat systems.
