So, as the title suggests, share some moments in video games, where you were so close to a loss and at the last second you managed to turn things around and pull a rescue, victory, save, etc. Here's one.

I was playing Hyrule Warriors Legends, the commander was Impa. For those who don't know, when an ally's health run out they flee. If the commander flees, I automatically lose. Once a character is in danger, I can rescue them by running into a small circle around them and restore their health. Ok, so, she was in danger and I was on the other side of the map. So I ran all the way there, and when I saw her, I didn't see any blue in her life bar, but I kept running and managed to rescue her, but a split second later, a Darknut hit her with its sword. If that happened first, I surely would have lost it.

Now, would love to hear some of your moments.

I once attempted to beat X-Men: Next Dimension. I was playing as Wolverine, but started to get so hardly beaten up down to the last third of my health.

When there were just a few seconds left, I was on the verge of losing for having the lowest health, but then I realized my super power bars were full. I managed to pull off the highest level of super power for Wolverine, which meant regenerating more than half of my life bar, which in turn gave me the win as I had the highest health now.

I spent what seemed like minutes laughing endlessly. All the time neglecting to use super powers to deplete my opponent's health so I could win by time out via regeneration. Could be seen as a low move, but when you use it for the first time is worth of a good laugh.

I actually have one of yesterday when I was fighting this extremely annoying boss in Dragon Quest 8 Journey Of The Cursed King. You see I started off with the usually with raising my parties defences then attacks. I always us this method the boss gets a two time attack on you and what annoyed me is that this boss does a lot o critical damage attacks. Its not as if I wasn't strong enough the face the guy I was. It was for the fact he kept on using a certain move that decreases my parties heath a lot. Or attacks one of the party members I don't want him to hit. He had come to surprise me by attacking me where I didn't see it coming. Funny enough I have played this game millions of times. He managed to kill at least 3 of my party members somehow during that boss fight that put me off. So what I do is go on red alert mode. Have whoever is still alive go on defence while the other is to bring the rest back to life. When that happens I still have them in defence mode until I am able to sustain the boss to stop his attacks and decreasing the amount as well with them on full health, that's when I go back to deliver the blow out attacks. I end up having the last laugh from that, because I managed to pull out from a situation not many people can do when fighting a boss on that game.

I think I've mentioned these both before, but two spring to mind instantly.

First was when I was seven or eight. I was playing Mortal Kombat on an arcade machine. I was fighting Kano (I was probably Scorpion or SubZero, not sure though) and I was down to one hit's worth of health while Kano had full health. The chips were down and my game would be lost soon. Then a kid walked up and informed me "you don't stand a chance".
That was all I needed to hear. I managed to come back and completely empty the health bar of this guy who I hadn't managed to even touch, without taking another hit.

The second was when I was ten or eleven. I was playing Mario Kart 64 at home and my brother and dad were watching me. I was playing as Toad on Toad's Turnpike, and I was in eighth place and half a track away from seventh. My dad then told me I stood no chance and the race was as good as over.
Hearing that spurred me on like no one's business. Lol I managed to come back somehow and nearly took first. I had to settle for second or third because a truck hit me right before I crossed the finish line, but that still felt good enough for me. It was so great hearing their reactions of disbelief as I quickly climbed back to the top from a situation that appeared hopeless. xD

Moral of the story: if you want me to succeed at something, tell me I can't.

A couple weeks ago I pulled off my greatest sports gaming moment ever. I was playing NBA 2K17 and my team was losing the whole time until we tied at the end. The other team scored and I got the ball with like 4 seconds left and made it in to tie. The buzzer rang when the ball was halfway between me and the basket. Then we won in overtime.

I'm pretty sure this is the closet call I've ever had in a video game. I was fighting Brock in Pokémon blue and my Pokémon were fainting left and right. It was down to the wire and I was down to my last Pokémon my Caterpie while Brock was also on his last Pokémon his Onix. Both of our Pokémon were low on health and I used tackle on his Onix and then I won. I think I was five or six when I did this.

Too bad I deleted the photo, I could've shown you the situation I was in while playing FFV. It was pretty early on in the game when I was fighting a boss and my team started fainting one after another. Finally Lenna was the only one left with around 10HP. I thought oh well, I'll just attack once and die and try again with another strategy. I remember, Lenna dealt only a few damage points and the boss died (she was a white mage and very poor in physical attacks). I was truly surprised since I had been hacking away at the boss for quite long so I knew it had a lot of HP, but in the end it was only a matter of dealing a single attack. I guess I can get lucky sometimes too!

EDIT:
Found the photo after all!

Game : Pokémon Platinum
Year: 2010
Luck: Over 10000.

I was fighting the sixth gym leader with my pokémon and suddenly had one pokémon left: An useless pokémon from level 2. The pokémon i fought at the end killed everyone and was level 40. But a glitch appeared: The enemy's pokémon only used an attack to raise its defense once i sent my weakest pokémon in battle. And i kept tackling him, not even a single stats-changing attack was used. Finally, after literally 16 minutes, i defeated the level 40 pokémon and won the sixth gym. My weakest pokémon suddenly became the second weakest because it evolved when reaching level 18. It was outrageous. In this close call, i had a lot of luck...

So, remembered another I had some time ago.

I was playing one of the Yu-Gi-Oh video games, backed into a corner with only 100 Life Points left, nothing on my field and the other had 3 monsters and Gravity Bind out. Four of my cards were the pieces of Exodia. It was my turn and out of desperation I whispered to myself "Heart of the cards, heart of the cards, heart of the cards" and then I drew the last piece and won.

There can be so many close calls in Yu-Gi-Oh! and by extension any card game, basically for the factor of luck. Who hasn't obtained the winning hand at Texas Hold'em in the River, that single card you need to be out to win is then turned face up to everyone's shock.

Speaking of luck, not long ago I was playing Kirby Air Ride, in the City Trial Mode. Throughout the match, barely a couple of machines appeared in the city, and since I was playing against three high-leveled NPCs this meant I couldn't change my starter Compact Star without getting sniped. After the time ran out, all I managed to get was my machine to go beyond double its original speed while the NPCs had nearly beastly stats for gliding, offense, defense and HP. Unless we participated in a drag race or single race, my machine was the worst.

With the stadium set at random and still in shock after what happened in the city (it's the only time I've seen less than a dozen machines appearing in a match), the goddess of luck decided to stare at me and make us participate in a drag race. Despite the machine differences, mine was so absurdly fast that I wiped out everyone. I tuned its top speed so much that the "engine sound" was almost chipmunky, but in the end it paid off.

EX Palen : Lol, yeah, Yugioh is the best at close calls. I had games on Forbidden Memories where I was about to lose and the guy was at full LP, and somehow I draw the one card that just causes a chain reaction that destroys all his monsters and allows me to win. Of course the complete opposite can happen as well, you can lose in a heartbeat.

Lol I had another one some time ago that I just remembered about.

It was many years ago, I was playing Pokemon FireRed, I was at the Champion's battle. At that time, I didn't fully grasp everything Pokemon related so I didn't train a lot and didn't stock up on a lot of items. I was out of revives, Full Restores and PP Restores. I was down to my last Pokemon, a Charizard. The Rival, the opposing starter, a Blastoise. He hit me with a Hydro Pump reducing me to just one HP. I was down to my last move, Fire Blast. I used it, and wo and behold! CRITICAL HIT! I won the fight and beat the game. Now, that was amazing.

I had quite a few close call moments, but I will never forget, playing Madden 15 with a friend of mine, I was down 3 scores, with 6 minutes to go in the 4th quarter. My friend threw an interception, I ran it back for a touchdown, he threw another one, ran it back about 30 yards, and then he finally stopped me, and I ended up throwing a touchdown, forced him to punt, ran it back for a touchdown, we were tied, he throws a interception with 25 seconds to go, I had no timeouts left, and I was down at my 10 yard line, I threw a long pass, and ran it for a touchdown, it was awesome, we both were laughing are asses off. Some friends would probably get mad, but it was just amazing, wish I would of recorded it and posted it on Youtube.

Another close call was playing rFactor, and doing a road course race against 25 others, and winning on the last corner in Formula One cars, it was awesome, especially since I spun out earlier, it was a 50 lap race too, and it took like 4 1/2 hours to do. First time winning a race online too.
