The long awaited Level-5 vision event was held yesterday revealing information on several of the games they're currently working on. Among these were the new Layton game that was teased last month. It now has an official English title which is: Lady Layton: The Millionaire Ariadone’s Conspiracy

The new protagonist was also revealed. It will star Kat (short for Katrielle) Layton which is the professor's daughter who will be joined by what seems to be her talking dog. It willbe taking place in their rendition of London and feature a ton of characters completely new to the series. Level-5 also revealed that it'll have less of a focus on dynamic problem solving like that of previous main series Layton titles, in stead focusing more on solving multiple cases dealing with the lives of London inhabitans. This in an attempt to bring a most fast paced and comical tone to the series. Lastly, following the death of the original puzzle designer for the Layton games Akira Tago, a new one was also introduced by the name of Kuniaki Iwanami.

The game is set to release in Japan during spring 2017. With a later 2017 western release being likely. It will be releasing on both the 3ds as well as mobile devices (android and iOS).

This looks...Interesting. I like how, unlike the other ""Layton"" games on Android and iOS, this one at least awknowledges Professor Layton. Or at least is pretending to.

This looks like it could be pretty good. The talking dog could be hilarious. I mean, Luke could talk to animals, and there was a talking bunny already.  I really hope that this will be a great addition to the already amazing Layton series.

A user of this : Unlike previous games that were released on mobile (at least to my knowledge) this is actually being touted as a main series Layton game. That is kind of interesting though since I doubt it would be retailing at full price when releasing on mobile so it does make me wonder if this will possibly be shorter. Either way with that in mind, to not acknowledge the Professor and events of previous games in some way would be kind of odd.

Zlinqx : Yeah, I noticed that myself. They were all like "Layton? What's a Layton? You are a big stupidface pay for my microtransactions." Them showing Layton clips, and actually having his name on the sign of her home base is at least a glimmer of hope and continuity. I noticed that this was being made for both mobile AND 3DS. I am not sure what to feel about that.
